Kay M., what an obnoxious response. (Did I spell that o.k.?) I do like the theatre, though. Lovely people, good prices, and a good location. Only negatives might include sharing a theatre with a REALLY SMART tenured professor!

While my movie-watching experience at the Cinema 5 was fantastic (Pirates of the Carribbean lookedgreat, sounded even better! and good, delicious popcorn (yellow, just like I like it!!!) I do have to complain about the management style at the theater. When I asked for my matinay ticket, the cashier, who was obviously working his first day, pressed a button that made the system go haywire woth buzzers! The manager, Mr. Thompson, was standing directly behind the poor guy and made a scene about trying to correct the buzzing (which it took him a while to do..) it must have been quite a feat!) After printing me a ticket that said "VOID", Mr. Thompson asked the poor kid to his office right then, but there was still a line out the door!! I hope he wasn't fired for that mistake!

Ovreall the service at the Cinema 5 was very good/world class, but I wish the managers wouldn't get involved and try to embarass the poor workers right infront of customers! The only ones who look bad are the managers in that case!

Miriam L's review of Carmike Cinema V was rife with mischaracterizations. As a tenured professor at Penn State, I have been a faithful patron of Cinema V for several years, as it is the only theatre in the downtown area (conveniently located just blocks from campus). One can finish delivering a lecture in the Willard Building, take a casual stroll across the Old Main lawn, and be seated in a comfortable theatre, popcorn in hand, all in the span of a mere 20 minutes.

The staff members are courteous and professional, the snacks are fresh and are served with a promptness unrivalled in State College, and the theatres, restrooms, and lobby are consistently kept clean.

In the academic world, intellectual dishonesty is considered a sin. In Miriam's world, it is apparently something to be proud of. Perhaps if Ms. Miriam L. had devoted more time in her life to developing her own character rather than trashing the good work of others, she might have been able to spell the word "virgin" correctly by now.

Visitors to State College should ignore Miriam's juvenile screed and see this charming little theatre for themselves.

the movie was off screen for about the half of the time. The floor was very sticky and their soda was flat. they still use the old ticket system. Offering very little selections, they had the 40 year old virigin still on when it came out in the university theatre.
