This is a great place. I had my first real introduction to Middle Eastern food at Al Dar. The owners are very nice and take great pride in their food and service. They get involved in their community. Good people.

best scallops & hummus i ever had. Menu has a wide variety with specials. warm, inviting atmosphere full of friendly staff & regulars. perfectly priced for the quality and experience. great place to catch up with friend and stay awhile. chefs, owner, & manager all from Lebanon so it REAL Mediterranean food. Pub tables for casual, long bar for a drink and an app, closed off back rm for larger gatherings, and cozy dining rm.
LOVE coming here.

The first time I ate there, i had just moved to Merion from Philly, and was really ticked off that I had to buy a full-price adult chicken fingers and fries for my five-year old kid (no children's menu.)

I hold a grudge so I had not been back for 10 years, Probably my loss, as they serve a pretty good variety of well-prepared stuff. Nice apps, and good Gyros / Chicken / Pasta dishes,

The food was sub-par at Aldar. The service was good with the exception that my glass of wine didn't arrive at the table until I had been sitting there for nearly 15 minutes. I noticed lip stick marks on the glass. The tables were greasy. The sliver was dirty and there were again, lip-stick marks on my coffee cup. I also noticed large clumps of dirt and dust in the curtains which hang above the tables. For the observant person, I would not eat there.

It seems that Mr. Charles is ignorant of the meaning of the word Al Dar in Lebanese. Well just to add to his glossary of terms, Al Dar means "the home" and you could really feel at home just by visiting the cosy Al Dar Bistro and the food is yummi delicious coming right out of the Lebanese Mountains. you won't regret making your reservation there.

PROS: Pita bread and spicey olive oil.
CONS: None that I could find.

Would you dare to eat at this place? The Wakim brothers only care about you paying the check. Make reservations somewhere other than AlDar. Do you know what al dar means in Lebanese?

PROS: absolutely none
CONS: too scared to eat there again

We've been to this place for dinner several times and haven't been disappointed. While you're waiting for your meal, enjoy the bread they service with olive oil for dipping. The decor is really cozy, although it can get a little noisy. Parking isn't great, considering you pretty much have to drive to get there.
