#1 Pet Store in My Eyes!

by Mary S.

My family has had nothing but extremely pleasant experiences with Pet Wonderland. We bought a long-haired mini dachshund and she has been the best dog I have ever owned in my life - and I have had a lot of pets - including 3 dogs now! We have had her for about a month now and I just took her to the vet yesterday and she is a healthy puppy! I have had nothing but the best care given by the employees and management. We saw the pup one week when we were in shopping for turtle supplies, went back the next week and saw her again with my husband and my kids, and bought her the day after. I have been in Pet Wonderland so many times, and whether we are there just to look around or purchase, we have always had such great interaction with the employees and management. Not to mention, the store is so well kept - nothing like other pet supply stores in the area! I hope to be visiting Pet Wonderland for years and years to come!

Sick Kitten

by Briana S.

My mother, my sister, and I went there to get a kitten. He was a longhaired orange that was discounted bbecause he was older than the others. When we brought him home he was fine for the first few days, but then he wouldn't eat his food, he would eat our other cat's. Our other cat is 2 and will not bother the kitten. Suddenly, our kitten wouldn't eat or drink and you could feel his bones. When we took him to the vet they said he had an intestine bug where his body wouldn't absorb the nutrients in his food and he had FLEAS (Our cat has never been outside so theres no way he could have gotten them from him.) My cat just recently died from the disease and I am absolutely heartbroken. I do not like the fact that all these people are getting sick animals from this store and I do not recommend you go here.

Pet Wonderland Inc is a joke

by Christine W.

I was an employee of this place and let me tell you they are the rudest people that I have ever worked for. Everyone is right by stating how they care more about money than they do the animals. The owners are rude and cruel to all of the employees. They treat everyone like a peon. I am so glad that I quit but I do feel sorry for the animals.

Where do they get their pets?

by Judy J.

Does anyone who goes to this place looking for a pet ask where they come from? Weren't they banned from selling pupppies for a year when they were up on Kidder St? Why cant they just sell pet supplies instead of perpetuating the pet mill business? People need to take more responsibility when finding a pet. If you think you are "saving " one , check out all of the puppy mill sites on You Tube and see the horrors you are condemning their parents to. If noone bought these pets, the mills would have to close.

Scam

by Rob C.

Went today August 13, 2008 to purchase a cat from them. After they let us hold him and bring to register and THEN was givin the scam its our store policy that you but our $20 4lb bag of cat food in order to buy this cat.
My advice would be to avoid store and their scams and from what I have read here grief.

Pet Wonderland wilkes barre, pa

by Beverly V. | insider Insider | Rank: 28,875

Beware, this place has moved to 508 blackman st. I will admit the store was clean every time I went in their. But I too got a high pressure sales pitch. I don't know where this place gets its dogs and cats from but puppy mill comes to mind. Alot of people have gotten sick animals from their. I think if you want a designer dog then go to the ASPCA as it is full of them. Don't support breeders who have to dogs and want to make money. They are not regulated and have no breed standards in place to keep the lines from degenerating.

How is this place STILL in business?

by Angel S.

I had to post when I saw the reviews about kittens.. I purchased a kitten from this HORRIBLE place in 1997 & I see the Millers are STILL up to their old games... banning people from the store & trying to blame their customers for the death of these poorly cared for animals. Just check out the Better Business Bureau & you'll see all the other complaints people have against them. It's pretty sad that they are still doing this after 10 years.

i am 16 years old and my bus stop is right by pet wonderland. i have been in pet wonderland time afer time and have only found good. i got a kitten from there almost a year ago and it is one of the best cats i have ever had. she is healthy, playful, and just an absolute joy. i am in the process of getting a puppy and he is an absolute joy too. the people that work there are extremely nice. i dont have all the money all at once so i'm paying for him every other day and they dont mind getting him for me so i can play with him for a little bit every time i'm in the store. i dont know what bad everyone is seeing, but some bad always come with the good. I guess i am just one of those people that realy enjoy the store.

My poor Kitten!!

by Anonymous

Hi I'm 15 years old and my mom just bough me a kitten from Pet Wonderland. Well they aren't a wonderland at all!!! See I got my kitten almost a week ago. I was so happy when i picked her out she was very cute and she loved the family we brought her home too. After a few days she started to throw up and have diarrhea and wasn't eating that much.We had to force feed her. My mom talked to the manager "Amy" who also told her she was a vet Tech that she would take back the kitten and take care of her by feeding her every 2 hrs and just trying to get her better. So I went with my mother to take the kitten back. I cried because I really like her and I didn't want to see her go but they told me I would get her back and that made me feel better. This Amy girl kept forcing my mom to take a refund back and my mom kept saying I rather wait but she kept insisting that we get the money back. So my mom took the money and the other employees were like "Try another kitten!" I was like no no I like the one I have now. On Friday June 1st my mother calls me at school saying that she called the pet store and said the kitten was getting better and we will have her back in a couples days. I was very excited because I missed her already and I wanted her home. That sat I came home from a camp I was at in the morning to hear my kitten has been sold and there was nothing wrong with her! I broke down crying! How could they do that to me! I grew attached to that kitten. Then I heard that Amy the manger banded my mother and sister from the store. How can you get banded from a store trying to fight for the cat? I thought you had to steal something to get banded from a store? Anyways my sister showed me all the things that happen to other people. I feel really bad for them too. I just wished that place would close down and all those animals in there could be saved from that horror woman AMY!! I also wish I could have my kitten back but I know that's not going to happen. So please you see what happen to a 15 year old girl. Don't let that store fool you they are awful and I'm out to get revenge!!

The Kitten Catastrophe

by Tracie P.

Well, to start out I used to hear a high opinion of Pet Wonderland, and was advised to go there by one of my co-workers because I was looking for a kitten. I did end up stopping in and purchasing a kitten which my husband and I absolutely fell in love with. The kitten was scheduled for his first vet checkup that following Saturday - needless to say he did not make it, we went out to pick up groceries and kitten toys and came home to find him dead. This was reported to the Better Business Bureau - only to find the supposidly this kitten is alive. (I only cried over the body for a good 20+ mins) Upon further review, the kitten was only four weeks old and had internal parisites. Pet Wonderland was to give us an autopsy report, which never happened. My husband brought the kitten back to the store, and was laughed at by the store manager in reguards to the kitten passing. They then offered another kitten... We did decide to take up the offer, and took another kitten home... At the store he looked wonderful, healthy, and older. Needless to say, he had ringworm (which spread to us and our other 2 cats), and earmites. He had to get surgery for entropion which was 600.00, then recently come to find out he has kidney problems and the hospitalization costed 375.00 after I found him collapsed on our kitchen floor. Needless to say ontop of neutering shots etc, I paid not just the 72.00 for the kitten, but about 1,197.00+ in total... I highly advise anyone to NOT go there, unless you have a big wallet.

Think before going

by Heather H.

I had read the reviews already on this site, and thought i would check it out. They had turtles for sale when I called, so we decided to take the trip down. Well, when we got there, I will say the place was VERY clean, and they had some dogs out to play with, which I thought was great. All the cages looked very clean too. The guy was very pushy in his sales pitch, which that i agreed with to the other person that wrote on here about it. AND, they wanted 59.99 for a little red slider turtle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First off, these turtles are popular, and they are only 14.99 at petco right up the road. Their prices were just TOO high for us, and we didtn like the pushy sales person. They do care more about selling their stuff then finding 'Good homes". I will probably not ever go back.

PROS: Clean
CONS: everything else, especially price

pets

by Amanda B. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 10,058

I have been in Pet Wonderland Inc., in Wilkes Barre a few times now. From the outside you would think that the place is pretty small. There isnt much parking outside, but once you get in, its pretty nice. They have the puppies, kittens, and other small pets along the one wall. Sometimes they will have puppies (maybe kittens too) in playpens outside of the glass so people can play with them. I bought a dog bed from here. There prices are pretty decent too.

I got my cat here

by Audra C. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,780

This pet store is very nice. I was looking for a kitten and they had a nice selection of healthy kittens. They also had many healthy looking dogs.
The staff was very nice in that they let us hold the kittens and play with them and then instructed us on what we needed for our kitten after we purchased him.

Encountered High Pressure Salesperson

by A T. | insider Insider | Rank: 13,542

I stopped in to look for a puppy for my wife and son, and was surprised at the high pressure sales pitch. I dislike that they seem more interested in selling a pet than making sure the purchaser would provide the animal with a good home. I didn't make a purchase there, because I was really not comfortable with the sales practices. I understand that I may have encountered an overzealous salesperson.
