I was a member at AFC years ago and found it to be just average. I quit when I moved out of the area, and was hesitant to rejoin when I came back to Philly... until I saw the revamped club. I was sooo excited to see new locker rooms and equipment. And I don't remember the class selection before, but i do know they've added new ones like pilates and zumba. I am excited and glad to be back!

I was a member at The Aquatic club for years, and just rejoined. I have to say the nicest locker rooms ever!! they are brand new, more showers, facilities, lockers, and clean space. Great Job to management or owners, whoever decided to put that money in, was a homerun! besides having all tthose pools and the gym and aerobics, this place is agreat nang for your buck. Highley recommended!

I've been a member at this gym for several years. I have never had a problem. The equipment is up to date: several treadmills, elliptical trainers, bikes, a full circuit with equipment that was new as of last winter, a separate weight room with new free weights (last winter) for anyone who is serious about lifting and they have a beautiful aerobics studio. Whenever a machine has had problems or has broken it is fixed or replaced right away. Since joining the gym I have taken advantage of their swimming lessons and have used two of their personal trainers. I found them all to be professional and friendly. They also offer a variety of classes: several aerobic classes, yoga classes, tai-chi, pilates and spinning (in a separate spin room). They also have a master's swim team, swimming lessons (group and private for all ages), water aerobics, deep water walking and open swim times during the day. I've found them to be one of the more affordable gyms in the area, and when there was a threat that I would be on strike with my job for an extended period of time they were more than accommodating, offering to freeze my membership and personal training payments until I was once again able to pay on a regular basis. The 50meter pool mentioned in the previous reviews was just renovated 2 summers ago. In addition to the 50meter pool they also have a heated therapy pool and a sauna in each locker room. The locker rooms are clean and well maintained with showers, changing areas, and vanity areas in the women's locker room.I think the best thing is to see / experience this gym for yourself. If you're looking for something with more of a family feel to it this is the place to go.Check them out: www.fit-happens.com

Aquatic and Fitness Center offers an affordable membership plan to a so-so fitness center. Inside, there is an OK-ay selection of machines and equiptment. A lot of the machines were dated and didn't feel like some of the higher class work-out machines I had used before. Their pool I tried once and was very dis-satisfied with. First off, the exterior of the pool is dirty and gross, I found a band-aid on the cement, I was relunctant to go swimming. The pool was cold, very cold and I left after a few laps, stay away from the pool. There is a basketball court which is pretty well-built, it's large and spacious and the equiptment is clean. It was easily the best part of this fitness center. To sum things up, the pool is horrid, the machines/equiptment is OK-ay and a little old, but the basketball court is great (large and spacious), price is great, and employees can be helpful (depends on the employee)

The help is nasty with the exception of the lifeguards. The sales rep that signs you up is nice when you sign up, and then ignores you for the entire year. They have three pools. In the main largest pool the water is way too cold. They have a smaller pool which is perfect in temperature, but you can't swim in there. The showers are not cleaned properly. There is no privacy for changing.

PROS: Affordable
CONS: Dirty, surley help, no privacy.
