I had been a member for 9 years and had to take about 2 years off for health reasons. Just rejoined again and I'm very impressed with the additional resistance and cardio equipment. The condition of all the equipment is very well maintained. I can't say enough good about the staff - very friendly! I've lived in different areas and have worked out at gyms for over 30 years, and I can tell you honestly that this is the best I've seen.
I have been a member at World Gym for 2 years and absolutely love this place. I work out very very early in the morning and Dave the morning guy is full of energy and super friendly as are all the staff there!...I heard Gold's gym's staff are very stuffy and don't even say Good Morning, why would they work there if they are miserable..World Gym is very affordable, the equipment is top notch, the parking is awesome and I have made some great friends along the way as well as improved my health.. They get involved in the community too, blood drives, car washes etc! Great place to get healthy!!!
5000) I have been a member for over 9 years. The gym is clean and the management friendly. They seem to always be adding new machines and upgrading. Parking is easy (don't know what the one review was talking about?). The clients range in age from teens to senior citizens and the atmosphere is friendly. There is a lot of cardio, which is great, because there is not ever a long wait to get on the machines.I do wish the weekend hours were longer.
I found this website by accident and felt I had to put in a positive plug for World Gym, the owner and the great staff. I have been going to World Gym in St. Lawrence for about 5 years now. I love this place! It is my second home. The staff is great, the owner is great and I always feel "at home". The equipment is fine and anyone can get a great workout with what they have to offer. Of course they have been working on improvements to the equipment and I admire the owner for not trying to "one up" the gyms coming into the area. Alot of former members fled the homeland for the "other" new gyms in the area. Personally, I like tried and true and like all the friends I've made along the way. There is something to be said for loyalty here people. The classes have dropped down, however, I still try to continue to support them. I really like this gym because I can be myself there and everyone is welcome here! You go Sam and the staff at World Gym! Thanks for all the great years and keep up the great work.
I recently moved to the area and joined world gym on st lawrence ave. I have found the staff to be very friendly and caring, especially early mornings (when I generally go) weekend hours could start a little earlier, but other than that, no complaints. Love the sauna, new equipment and trainers almost always available to help. lotsa tv's, if you're into that.
Gym is clean, decent size locker rooms, showers, tanning available, they'll watch your kids for a minimal extra charge (like maybe $5 or $10 extra per month) Lots of parking, don't know what that other reviewer was talking about - -maybe that you might have to walk 100 feet or so? Is that a nightmare??
I pay only 20 per month and am quite happy with all of the facilities and equipment.
Been a member to this gym for about 7yrs now and it has gone way down hill! The owner removed alot of free weights and machines and is now foucsing on cardio, I mean alot of cardio that is all that is left. Two other gyms are going in in the area and now he wants to remodel the place or at least try. Alot of the members that have been there for years are leaving and going to golds that is opening down the street. Now that he has some competition he lowered the rates, bad move it just brought in a bad crowed of people.
The facilities are quite nice, particularly the restrooms/changing area and the aroma/light therapy room. However, the gym's benefits end here. The classes are limited, the yoga program has been all but eliminated, parking is a nightmare, and the gym is usually stuffy and overcrowded. The hours are ridiculous and closed very early on Saturdays. Much of the equipment looks antique. However, the real problem seems to be that its management takes your money and then forgets about you ... they seem much more concerned with attracting new customers than they are with making their current ones happy.
