Free Me! I want to go to Cubra Libre. I just don't want to have to wait in line. Maybe I should say free me from the long line. Move me onto the delicious appetizers.

I went just last week on a romantic date and this place

I recommend getting the "15 item tasting menu" if available. It's a great way to sample so many different things. My bf and I were visiting from out of town and came here on a Sunday. I've never had cuban food like this before. MMMMM. Really good flavors. That mango butter is to die for. haha.
The service is great, the restaurant decor is cool too.

This place is amazing - I have been there several times and it just makes for a great night out. The mojitos are the best I have ever had and depending on who you are with, it could be very romantic or really crazy fun.

My Husband and I dine at some of the best resturants in the tri state area, Cuba Libre is not one of them. Appitizers were good, Entrees, awful in a word. We never mind a costly dinner, be cause you pay for what you get, not this time. Service was just ok, quality of the food was below average prices not so. If only the food could match the atmosphere. Definitly not a second visit!

I went to this place with my girlfriend looking for a good cuban meal. The quality of the food was mediocre. The environment is decent but not honest. Looks like a Hollywood parody of Havana.
If you are looking for romantic night and good cuban food don't go to Cuba Libre. If you are looking for a bar and dancing just go there after 10 PM and don't dine.

I'm a regualar at Cuba Libre. They have excellent food and drinks. Naturally, I reccomended Cuba w/o hesitation for my friends birthday. Unfortuntely after our experience I was embarrassed for suggesting it. We had a party of 6 and were seated by the kitchen entrance and restrooms. There were constant smoking skillets passed above our heads and drunk patrons fell on us waiting for the restrooms. This definately affected our celebratory mood. If we had seen any other available seating I would have inquired to be moved.I had specified when making my reservation we were celebrating a birthday. I was suprised they hadn't sent over a complimentary dessert of some kind. While paying our bill someone finally come over with a "dessert" to my relief. But, to our dismay it was a plate with whipcream and a candle! Seriously? I informed management of my experience. She only advised me to specify seating next time because they really dont have much seating for 6 or more. There won't be a next time

I took a trip to Philadelphia and decided to go into this elegant little Spanish restaurant. Cuba Libre has a wide variety of Spanish dishes that will definitely satisfy your taste buds. The price was very reasonable and it also included a dance lesson in which you learn the Salsa.

I went to this place for the first time last week. This place is very nice inside. Very nice decoration. The service was great. We got seated right away. Must make reservation at least a week early. Food is great. If you don't know what to order just ask they will explain everything in the menu for you. Try grilled pineapple mojito. its amazing. This place can be very expensive so try to go during the restaurant week. I would definitely go back again

The staff here... what is their problem?? I have only been here at night while they were functioning as a club. I remember being ignored by the bartender, even when he'd seen me try to get his attention and wasn't serving anyone else. The bouncers walking around were pretty obnoxious too. It felt like they were constantly telling me and my boyfriend that we couldn't stand places, and we had to move, and they were just very controlling and pushy. Then as soon as 2AM came, it was "everyone get out immediately, no you can't wait inside." It was December at the time, and freezing outside. The music and dancing is pretty good if you manage to not let the staff get to you. Drinks are expensive.

I first went to Cuba Libre in Atlantic city and it was absolutely amazing! My friend and I wanted to go to a fun place to eat and drink and I thought Cuba Libre would be a great pick! I was wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!! The appetizer was decent but the entrees were disappointing especially for how much they were priced!!!!!!!!!!! The rice tasted like take out chinese rice and both our entrees were barely mediocre and plain. They need some advice from their Atlantic city restaurant. It was also interesting because we noticed a group kept on complaining to the manager and it seemed they ended up leaving without paying the bill and eating their food. However, The atmosphere was cool and they did have late night dancing.

My significant other and I had brunch here this past Sunday, and it was absolutely fantastic. The stuffed French Toast was to die for, as was the Cuban Coffee with coconut milk. If I could make both of these things myself, I'd never eat anything else. Also, I loved the ambience - the music was fantastic. I can't wait to go back!

I went there for brunch with my girlfriends on a recent visit to Philly. We are all from New York city so we know good food when see it, and this was really really good food. The manager of the restaurant was so nice and friendly and recommended some excellent dishes. I tried the omelet with crabmeat and hollandaise sauce and the cuban coffee with steamed coconut milk, both were out of this world. I would definitely go back and try dinner.

My friend and I were there recently, and we left the restaurant feeling very underwhelmed. I could not agree more with the previous comments posted by Jeffers. The interior of the restaurant was beautiful, our server was professional and pleasant. The only ambience that was a bit off kilter was the lighting, which I found to be a bit on the dark side (I wasn't able to see the food on my plate).

I had the tuna entree which, as Jeffers notes on another dish, was supposed to come with coconut. The coconut ingredient was imperceptible, and the sugar cane skewer through the tuna did nothing for the meat, but added to the frustration of having to deal with it. My friend ordered the Pollo al Ajillo , chicken stuffed with chorizo, which was, again, a main ingredient that was MIA. He had to cut through at least half the chicken before getting a small hint of chorizo. The part of the chicken that did not have the chorizo was extremely bland and seemed underseasoned. The food wasn't terrible, but we both expected the meal to be a lot more flavorful as befits something from the Carribean.

The only item that we enjoyed were the fried plantains appetizer. Mojitos were very tasty. Overall, the dinner check was a little too much for what it was.

Any recommendations for good, authentic Cuban food?

Let me get the kind words out of the way. The restaurant is beautiful. However, as you take each additional bite of the incredibly mediocre, overpriced food this fact will irritate you more and more. It's about this time when you realize that you are sitting in one of those restaurants that lures you in with the great "concept" decor and then begins to roll you through a dining experience that makes even a native feel like an exploited tourist. I dined with three others and was amazed that almost every one of the three appetizers and four entrees started off with an incredibly flat first bite which was quickly followed up with a series of increasingly boring consecutive bites. To start, the rock shrimp and scallop ceviche presented me with a tedious duel between my fork and another one of those totally impractical edible garnishes. When I finally got to the goods, I found the rock shrimp and scallops to be lacking in flavor and the supposed coconut component of the dish to be completely absent. I mean, this is Cuban food - bright, fresh and explosive with flavor, right? The best part of this dish was the completely unadorned avocado on top. The trio of empanadas appetizer contained a sample of thee different fillings which were only slightly distinguishable from each other. They were also dried out. If you barely let your imagination run wild you could envision them sitting for some time, precooked under a heat lamp. They did at least have a tasty sweet relish that accompanied them. Well, I think that it was tasty, then again I could have just been desperate for flavor of any type. The Arroz con Pollo was fun, kinda like going on an easter egg hunt - barely any chicken or chorizo to be found anywhere. The flavor was pretty uneventful until, ...until you got to the garnish, a wonderfully vibrant sprig of cilantro. The red snapper was covered in a sauce that emanated a canned tomato fillet flavor. I'm Out of room. Rushed service. If you don't value Ur money, go for it

Not authentic Cuban, but Cuban with a twist. Mojitos are good, meals very good. Chorizo stuffed chicken was delicious. Appetisers a little small, and the menu was not cheap. But if you're up for a nice evening with friends, or somthing kinda trendy/romantic, this is a great place.

There are two reasons why you would want to go to Cuba Libre. One is the food. Here you will find some great Cuban dishes that will sure to fill you up. If you should come here without reservations, there is a full bar where you can sit and wait but be warned the drinks are expensive. The secodn reason why you would come here is for the dancing. The main room turns into a dance floor where you will be able to Salsa to your heart content. A great place to go if you ever visit Old City.

Just went there last for the first time and being in the business, I was appalled that a mojito is $10! There's little to no alcohol in it anyway, but for that price, there should be. We didn't have reservations and was told by the host that it would be no problem, just let him know when the rest of our party arrived. Well, they did and when we went to be seated, he rudely said that he did not tell us it would be okay not to have a reservation, but, he will "see" what he could do. So, right off the bat, it was not a good experience, but...we were seated upstairs in what seemed to be a VIP section, even though there isn't one. The table was aweseome! The food...okay. I had the Ropa Vieja and it was overpowered by the stewed tomatoes and the rice side dish was seriously hard as a rock. Our server was really great thought and the dessert was fantastic. Try the flan! I'd go back...with a reservation.

Cuba Libre is one of my favorite places because the atmosphere is so lively and entertaining. With its salsa performances by professional dancers and the chance to take a salsa lesson, this fun, trendy place is a great place to hang out with a small group or even go solo. The drinks are pricey, but well worth it!

Unbelievably terrible service - hostess was in awe that we wanted to have a server take our sangria pitcher to the table we were going to be seated at (she told us to bring it ourselves), we waited over 30 minutes with a reservation, our entrees were good but the ceviche on ice was almost nasty, they didn't bring any change as requested (and kept a fat tip), and then actually asked us to leave after we went to the restroom so they could seat another party. Never again!

My husband and I are regulars here, and we love both the food and the atmosphere. We booked Cuba Libre for a welcome brunch prior to our wedding as a special treat for our out-of-town friends who traveled to share the weekend with us. We had a great experience making a large group reservation for a Saturday brunch (we had about 30 people). The food and service were great.

For dinner, the guava ribs are the way to go.

When we got there we were glad that there were only 2 tables cause we were very hungry .. it was around 1pm. We wanted a light and quick lunch. So we ordered ceviche, soup and salad. From the appetizer to our soup and salad...it took them exactly 30 minutes to come out. We asked the busser to follow up our order because the waitress doesn't seem to care. No apologies from our waitress. The worst part, 2 more tables were filled after we came...and they were served first. This is an over-rated and definitly over priced resto...Now, my husband works for a 5 star hotel in the city will definitely have a chat with the hotels concierge re: this experience and hopefully their guests won't have the same experience. An hr to have soup and salad! The food in not worth the wait...

Having brunch here is like taking a meal at a fabulous island resort - straw fans, salsa music, and mojitos! What's not to love? The menu is very inventive, and it's genuinely difficult to choose. We ordered a bread/pastry assortment appetizer, which took about 10 minutes to arrive, so the manager comp-ed it (we hadn't even noticed the wait, but really appreciated the gesture). The staff was very accomodating and they served some of the best coffee I have ever tasted. I will be back, and I absolutely recommend it for brunch.

i've eaten here numerous times and the food is nothing to brag about. they have quite a few interesting dishes but overall the food feels like its rushed. this definetly isn't 4 star cuisine. i prefer to order drinks at the upstairs bar. upstairs doesn't feel as conjested as downstairs and your more likely to get a seat there. the drinks are good for the most part but for the price they could pour a little more. i like the cuban sandwich for lunch but save your money otherwise.

Cuba Libre is an incredible restaurant and nightclub. They are kind of pricey, so you may want to check the prices before going in (at the door and perhaps online) It is a very classy place that is absoloutely beuatiful on the inside. The food is delcious and the events I've gone to in the past have been amazing.

I WENT TO CUBA LIBRE IN 2003 WHILE VISITING PHILLY, FELL IN LOVE WITH THE COFFEE, MOVED HERE FOR THE FOOD.EAT HERE NO LESS THAN TWICE A MONTH, CAN'T SAY ENOUGH GREAT THINGS,YOU SIMPLY MUST TRY THE "GUVA GLAZED RIBS". THE WEEK-END LATIN DANCE PARTY IS FULL OF HIGH ENERGY AND THE WAITERS AND SERVICE IS WHAT ALL RESTAURANTS ARE EXPECTED TO BE LIKE.

Pros: Great Cuban Coffee, Food Presentation, Perfect Location

Cons: No Parking, Kitchen closes early

We visited the Cuba Libre in Atlantic City, NJ. It's beautiful. I was very impressed. We thought both the food and service was great. The girls were very helpful. We shared this app that was 4 or 5 different items on the menu and of course....mohitos! Their drink menu is original. There were drinks on there that we've never had before. We had a good time just trying them. This location also provides 2 different clubs in 1. The ever so popular "salsa floor" and then upstairs they have more of a "top hits" club. It's very cool. It's located in the Quarter at the Tropicana. The best part about it, is that it's located in a cluster of other night life that's only feet away from one another and you never leave the building. IT'S A MUST you try this out. Then report back on what you thought

On a weekend trip from Boston to see the Dali exhibit my boyfriend and I randomly chose Cuba Libre based on the name. We are both avid mojito and salsa lovers in Boston and were knocked dead when we walked in the door-there is nothing like this in Boston-music, rum, mojitos, and food, sure. But not the decor. As for the food, the oxtail and skirt steak were both fantastic. And of course no restaurant is ever dead on all the time-reading the other reviews there were comments on rice, service, wait, etc. Our original wait was an hour and a half and that turned into 10 minutes-you just never know. Our waiter was also fantastic and made some great recommendations. We had a nice corner table so it was also pretty romantic even though packed-what's wrong with being packed on a Saturday night?

With great food and great drinks, Cuba Libre is the perfect restaurant to enjoy a romantic dinner. The interior decorating and cuban music makes you feel as if you stepped into another country. Great for nice dates and a night on the town.

Airy restaurant reminiscent of a street scene from Havana with stained glass windows, tropical plants, and rattan fans twirling overhead. The food is hit or miss and a gamble (they have a new A.C. location...how fittting!). Good appetizers include churros dusted in cinnamon sugar served with hot Mexican Ibarra chocolate and plantain soup. Not good at all were the conch fritters that tasted like overfried breading and the chewy, overcooked shrimp that come with the soup. Ceviche in a coconut shell atop seaweed served smoking with dry ice was showy but below average tasting. Good main course choices include grilled skirt steak churrasco while the grilled fish special (tuna our last visit) and the sandwich cubano were only average. Desserts include overcooked chocolate tamale and delicious chocolate and vanilla sponge cake pair soaked in three milks with chocolate and fruit toppings.

With a bill of more than $100 for two, I was disappointed. My Tuna was overcooked and my rice was hard-like it was from the bottom of the pot. My husband liked his steak and the Chicharrones Appetizer was ok.The mojitos were blah, the dance floor looked like it was jamming and sit upstairs if you don't want someone salsa'ing into your Arroz Con Pollo.Recommended for the college crowd or single ladies scene.

Pros: Not too loud, Chicharrones Appt, Reservations Work

In a time when Philadelphia is being overrun by crappy $10 martini bars, it's nice to have a retreat like Cuba Libre where you can get something fun, exciting and fresh. The food and atmosphere also add to a wonderful night out. I hughly suggest the Sunday brunch. I brought people from out of town here and they were thoroughly impressed. Be prepared for somewhat sluggish service though. That's not one of their strongest suits.

settled close to great bars like blue martini and around the corner from tangerine, cuba libre is the perfect resturant/bar for a first date. I recommend a mojito from the bar, and the Sun Tanned Salmon as an entree. The service was impressive and we were seated within 10 minutes of our reservation.Overall, a memorable meal.
