Althoigh I've had much better Chinese food at PF Changs, the food was slightly better than average. The restaurant has a interesting fragrance... but if you don't need a five (or 4 or 3) star restaurant then the House of China is OK.

The food at this "authentic" Chinese restaurant was anything but. Once I walked in and saw the host I should've turned right around. He was an overweight, scruffy, clearly drunk, Hispanic gentleman with piercings on his lips that almost made me lose my appetite. Had that been the case I should have thanked him for saving me $50 and a night of being sick. The food that me and my friends ordered was atrocious, it was all covered in a horrible greasy dark brown almost black sauce. The vegetables in every dish tasted like they had been cooked for days and the meat all had weird textures and consistency that made it hard to believe it was chicken or beef. The decor is horribly aged and decrepit as is the booth we were sat in. The whole experience was capped off by what appeared to be the cook peeking out of the kitchen was an older Hispanic man. I don't think there was a single Asian person working in this horrible empty "Chinese" restaurant. The only thing nice about the whole ordeal was our waitress. She was a young British girl who was very attentive and had an amazingly vibrant personality. I felt horrible that such a nice professional waitress was working at an empty restaurant that clearly no one cared about. I left the poor girl a $15 tip because we were the only table in the whole place and were there for an hour and a half. On our way out I heard the host with the facial piercings drunkenly yelling at her, I hope she finds a job at a professional restaurant and never looks back.

Let me start by saying the restaurant has a musty odor that hits you when you first walk in the door. More importantly, this was the worst food I have ever seen. My boyfriend and I both ordered the Chicken with Broccoli (comes with egg roll, soup, and fried rice). The soup was okay. However, the meal cannot be described. The chicken and broccoli was VERY slimy and the fried rice was even bad. I couldn't take a bite because I was getting sick from the smell. My boyfriend took three bites and got instantly ill. We left within 5 minutes of being served our meals. This was by far the biggest waste of $35. I am writing this review because I do not want anyone to ever go through what we went through. We are both sick (I only had about 3 bites of rice and the Won-Ton soup). I don't know how this restaurant is in business.

This is probably some of the worst Chinese food I have ever had, which is sad to say. They are hard to understand on the phone (at least I had trouble) and delivery seemed to take eons. If you are really in the mood for Chinese food, I'd order from somewhere else.

Depending on how much you are in the mood for chinese, this wouldn't be my first choice. The food isn't that great and the delivery takes a ridiculous amount of time.
