Sushi on the Avenue is a small BYO that has a very unsteady flow of business, but that doesn't stop the chefs from giving you a fresh quality meal. The lunch specials are the best deal on the menu, as any break on sushi in general (and specifically in center city) is always a good thing. The miso is great. Spicy Tuna and salmon/avocado rolls ("Maki") are always a popular favorite, but be sure to get a little fancy with the other maki like the Dragonfly or the Hurricane rolls. Follow up with some Mochi ice cream dessert or green tea.

SOA's atmosphere runs a typical Japanese theme with two stark colors (a reddish orange and black) with a sushi bar at the front of the restaurant, and intimate seating in the back that is low to the ground. As said before, the fluctuating masses is contingent on the concerts at the Kimmel Center right across the street, but at times it can get a little barren and awkward in there: just you, your chopsticks, wasabi, soy sauce, ginger, and beautiful arranged slabs of fish.

Price-Wise: Lunch specials are recommended. If i can recall correctly, there's a soup and maki combo worth the consideration. The regular menu holds modern day midtown philadelphia prices (about $6 for a basic Maki, and up to $15).
