Green forest don't get me wrong is a nice palce, but way too expensive. Maybe it's just because I come from Massachusetts where they have Brazilian and it's roughly $10.00 a plate for buffet.

This is our favorite "treat" restaurant. We go here about 6-8 times a year. The grilled meat is fantastic - great selection and very flavorful.\r

The Atmosphere and Decor

This was my first experience at the Green Forest. I heard and read many good things about them and decided to try it. Once we arrived, I was shocked about the decor and atmosphere. I guess after eating at Texas de Brazil and Fogo de Chao you expect a certain decor and astmosphere. It felt like a cafeteria setting.

No Alcohol?

As soon as were seated, we asked for the wine list and our waitress said they do not serve alcohol, but we do accept BYOB. After spending an hour in the car to get their, we said "What, are you kidding us?". Basically, to enjoy a glass of red wine, I had to leave the Green Forest for the nearest wine & spirits store. Oh, there is a $3.50 corking fee.

The Salad Bar

It had hot and cold items at their salad bar. Cheeses, sliced meates, crab leggs, shrimp, salad fix'ins, oysters on the half shell, etc. I wouldn't say this was the best salad bar, but the cold items looked and tasted fresh. Also, the quality of the items was good.

The Meat

Their were sixteen different meats (e.g., top sirloin, filet mignon, parmesan crusted filet mignon, chicken, turkey, sausage, skirt, flank, lamb, etc.) that were brought to our table. The quality of meet was good. Some of the meat seemed well done at times, but overall was a good and a good flavor.

Service

The service was slow at times, but good and hospitable. The waitress kept us motivated and constantly kept giving us new plates. Overall, the service was good.

Conclusion

Overall, the experience was good, but for the $49.00 (including tax and tip) I paid, I guess I would have rather spent this at Texas de Brazil or Fogo de Chao.

I have been to Green Forest several times. July 08 and October 08. The first visit was outstanding. Julie was our waitress and she was wonderful. She was intuitive and friendly. She explained the process to us and got our drinks. I had the Brazilian Cherry Ginger ale and it was to die for. Service & food was wonderful. She came around at all the right times. She was just overall great. The second time we came in it was on a Saturday and it was a horrible experience, not only was service bad, but the owner was rude. Our waitress was Sada or something like that. She was bossy, rude, and pushy. She seemed to act as though we were idiots when she explained the process to us even after we told her we were returning customers. As my wife and I talked while we waited for our drinks, she slammed our drinks on our table and walked away. Never to return for refills. From my understanding new plates is a big thing with them. The owner was walking around the tables, checking customers and when she came to our table she basically took our plates even after we had told her that we were not done. I practically rushed my food into my mouth while she just grabbed it away. I asked one of the bussers (?) if Julie was there and she said that Julie was no long with them, which is a bummer. She was a great waitress, an asset to their company. I will NEVER go back to Green Forest and anyone that asks me about the restaurant I will not recommend it. The owner was inconsiderate and the waitress? are not very professional.

My friends and I were in town for business. We went to Green Forest based on the good reviews. The food was great. Some of the meats were fatty but you don?t have to eat them all. We were there at 7:00 pm on a Saturday. It was a busy evening; we didn?t have to ask for meats. The cold buffet was not outstanding, just ok. The service was very good, too. The waitress was attentive and friendly. The price was more than fair; something like $30 per person, except drinks. We recommend going on a Sat night. It was just perfect!
Pros: Good meat, and service.
Cons: none

This restaurant was great. We went to a place like this in Aruba, and it was every bit as good as the one there.

I've been to several Brazilian Churrascaria's in my day, notably in NYC and elsewhere. The Green Forest looks a bit odd on the approach because it resembles a corporate center more than a restaurant. Once inside, we were reassured with a spacious and airy restaurant where we were given some room to relax, without overhearing our neighbors' breathing. The service was attentive but not intrusive. The carvers were helpful and generous (when asked to be). The food quality, from the salad/appetizer bar to the meats, was exceptional. High quality ingredients and appealing presentation were the focus in Green Forest. The price was more than fair (around $26 per adult for everything except drinks and dessert - we stuck with non-alcoholic drinks to keep the price reasonable). If you like, you can BYOB and pay a modest corking fee (around $2, I think). Finally, we were allowed to take our time; we were never rushed in the way I have experienced at other similar restaurants. Choose carefully, take your time, and you won't be disappointed. Overall, this place was a genuine winner and I will certainly return when I'm in Pittsburgh again. Well done!

Pros: Value, quality, privacy

Cons: A bit noisy for a romantic dinner

Great place!!! The food was excellent! The service was as well.... one warning.. the brazilian soda (pronounced "Gwadana") is 6 bucks a pop. The meat they bring around is excellent and the salad bar has various types of seafood and salads.. all good. Our server was very attentive and friendly. Good parking as well. If you're a coffee drinker, have the coffee. It is very similar to the style found in Brazil, which is very strong but very good.

This place is awesome! You cannot go wrong with this place. There is no reason I will not go back at least once a month! I usually end up spending $20 per person + tips at any steak house in pittsburgh. This place is a little bit more expensive BUT it is ALL YOU CAN EAT!! Do you hear me? ALL YOU CAN EAT (Filet mignon wrapped in bacon, Pork Tenderloin, Beef Tenderloin, Skirt Steak, Flank Steak, Rib Eye, T-bone, Ribs, Leg of Lamb, Sausage, Small chicken wings and more I am sure I am forgetting off the grill) Salad bar has a lot to offer including ALL YOU CAN EAT CRAB LEGS!!! Sushi as well!!!! There was also SWORDFISH as an option as well as Rice, beans and other assortments!!!

So here is what you get...

ALL YOU CAN EAT!
Salad bar
Steak (Various types), sausage, Pork, ribs, chicken and lamb
Crab legs
Sushi (Not huge portions like a japanese restaurant but still sushi)
Swordfish(I also was told other days they have trout, salmon and other types of fish)

All of this was $32.00 per person + tips and drinks

How much do you spend for all you can eat crab legs at any other place in pittsburgh?

How much do you spend for a (1 COURSE) steak dinner at any steak house in pittsburgh?

Why not have ALL YOU CAN EAT + more options for $12.00 more?

The staff was so friendly and I even spoke with the owners! How many times have you spoken with an owner of any other place? Very warm welcome and it feels like they care about each and every person that is there. I went on a Thursday and it was early in the evening. There were only 4 other parties there.

Im sure I am forgetting other stuff so I will have to stop back out there to remind myself soon! This place was too good not to write a review about and share with everybody who loves to eat and have a little bit of culture as much as I do! They also have deserts, BYOB with no charge but will have a Bar soon...but I dont drink so :P

My boyfriend and I were in town and tried this place based on the good reviews. Romantic? Definitely not. The food was good. Some of the meats were fatty but we just cut it off and moved on. We were there at 7:30pm on a Sunday, which I guess is a slow night, because we had to ask for meats... they stopped coming out 15 mins after we sat down. The cold buffet was good but not extensive. Our waitress was great... attentive and friendly. Our fellow diners were disgusting... we were one of 3 tables and the other 2 were loudly talking on cell phones and screaming about how expensive their bills were ($32 a person is NOT a bad deal). I would recommend going on a Fri or Sat night when it is busier and there are more meats coming out.

We went to the Green Forest and it was delicious. The restaurant was clean, the servers were super attentive and the meat just kepty coming. Lots of great variety on the buffet table.....I can't say enough great things. The only bad part was that I loved everyhting so much I couldnt possibly have 2nds!!! Great experience and great restaurant.

HUGE selection. The salad bar alone could fill you up, but don't let it! The meats keep coming until you just can't eat any more. The downside is all the meat is cooked the same so if you want well done or rare you need to ask. The food was great.

Our family went to the Green Forest for dinner to mark the end of summer vacation for the kids... It was up to dad to make the choice of where to go. Dad turned out to be a hero! Between the well stocked salad bar, hot buffet, and the many selections of various cuts of meat that kept coming to the table, there was something for everyone's tastes. Is this a five star restaurant? No. But it's a fun place, with good food, and courteous staff. We will go there again.

I was treated to the Green Forest Restaurant by my oldest son May of 2005 who was told they had good food. I saved up all day after reading the reviews of this restaurant and was looking forward to it. To my dismay, I was not pleased. I thought the food was bland to be a Brazilian restaurant and there were not enough tasty hot items on the buffet bar. The waitress had an accent and we could not understand some of the things she was saying and she became inpatient with us because we did not understand her. The meat servers were complaining as well as other tables because they felt the meat was not coming out fast enough. I also waited 20 minutes at the buffet for them to bring out more ranch dressing after asking for it.

This is one of our favorite special occassion Restaurants. The meat entrees quality is outstanding, the best I have experienced. The buffet bar is very good too, but I might stay away from raw seafood and quail eggs. These are difficult to keep fresh on a buffet bar, if the restaurant is not really busy. The Sangria is very good. The Service is friendly and very good, however with some of the servers there can be a language barrier. I would say we are somewhat regular patrons now, but on our second visit (2 months after our first visit) the waitress remembered our name. A very fun and friendly place.

This is a meat lover's paradise! The first time went went (2 couples) it was on the recommendation of my boyfriend's boss. None of us left there hungry, that's for sure! The food was fantastic and never ending. We all decided that we would have to take everyone that we knew there so they could experience it for themselves. The second time we went it was with a group of 6...and this is a great place for a large group. I agree with other reveiwers that said to go easy - if you can - on the salad bar and buffet. And definitely try the grilled pineapple if they have it. The wait staff is great...kind, courteous and fun! It's a pleasure to dine here - just be sure to wear stretchy pants, cuz you are going to be full!

Took my sister here for her birthday last Friday. Wanted to try someplace different. We were 4 adults and 3 children- very 'kid friendly' restaurant. No one minded the food on the floor under my 9-month old and the wait staff were engaging all of my kids in brief converstaions throughout the evening. Food was delicious ! Service was very friendly and attentive. Tip for 1st timers: Go easy on the salad bar and the hot food buffet (although it will be difficult)... ask for thin slices of the meat initially so that you can be in shape for ROUND 2 of all your favorites. Top sirloin of beef was so incredible that my 7 year old daughter asked for seconds! My 3 year old waved her hand high in the air for a second sausage! Definitely will return for more 'special occasion dinners'. Great way to spend an evening!
