Great location - awesome mgmt: Renting from Singer since beginning of this year in PA suburbs. When I call / email to report something needs to be done they response (read: fix!) depending on the emergency within the day. Very satisfied

I have nothing but good things to say about Michael Singer Real Estate. I dealt with Linda Toppi, who is top notch -- incredibly nice and very accommodating. They fixed everything in the apartment pronto and even followed up via email to

As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for your outstanding management of the Imperial Apartment where I have lived for 38 years. Please extend my appreciation to each person on your team

Just moved in and so far everything is up to par. Apt. was painted and Tiffany in the office has been too kind. No bugs, nice place. Called for minor maintenance, and issue was resolved in less than 24 hours!!!

I've now rented about 15 different places in multiple cities, and like the other reviewer, M. Singer was by far the worst. Actually, I also had heating/radiator issues. First, the heat wasn't turned on well into the winter, despite multiple calls to the office - everyone in the entire building was freezing their asses off. Then, once they were turned on, a radiator in the apartment above leaked through the ceiling into our apartment - hooray. I remember calling their "emergency line" - and the guy on the other end sounded like he was under the influence of some serious drugs. Other requests for apartment repairs made via repeated phone calls went unheeded - I finally had to resort to sending maintenance requests via registered mail before anything got done - I have NEVER had to do this in any of the other places that I have rented. So, yeah, it really was kind of like living in a slum.

Please, if you value your sanity, do not rent from Michael Singer.

Pros: nice location of apartment

Cons: everything else

I have rented from many different landlords in several cities, and Michael Singer Real Estate has been by far my worst experience. They rent expensive apartments, but run them like slums.

MSRE seemed like a great company at first, mainly due to our rental agent Tiffany who was very sweet and took great care of us. The apartment looked great, but things just started falling apart. When we first moved in, the place was not clean, the fridge was broken, all the drains were clogged, light switches didn't work, outlets were not covered, etc. Most of these things were fixed within the first couple of weeks, so we thought everything was good.

Then winter arrived, and they turned on the building heating system. The building was heated with old steam radiators. The radiator in our bathroom had a hole in it, so it constantly spewed hot steam, making the apartment very humid and smelling terrible. Since it was a Saturday, we had to call the emergency maintenance line. The lady who answered the phone was very rude and told us that the steam would stop eventually and someone would come fix it on Monday. Nobody came on Monday, so we called back and were given the runaround. Someone finally came to look at it on Friday, a week later, but still didn't fix it until two days after that.

Since the valves were broken on all three of our heaters, we had no control over the heat, so we had our windows open all winter long, as it was unbearably hot.

The real kicker was that every time the heaters turned on (about every 3 hours), they would make a very loud banging noise for about 15 minutes. I am a very heavy sleeper, but this would wake me up every time and I couldn't get back to sleep until it stopped. This means that twice a night, I would be woken up and have to listen to the heaters making noise for 15 minutes before trying to go back to sleep. We complained about this on a regular basis, but Michael Singer did not even pretend to care, nor would they even consider having someone fix the problem.

There were many other maintenance and safety issues which we brought to their attention multiple times to no avail. We eventually ended up breaking our lease and moving after about 6 months. Naturally, they wouldn't consider waiving the $350 lease break fee either.
