In 1941, Frank Pica, Sr. opened a pizzeria at 62nd and Race Street in West Philadelphia. This small establishment containing just a few tables, an old-fashioned brick oven anda take-out counter soon became a special part of the neighborhood. His loyal customers revered the friendly and warm atmosphere, which Frank promoted just as much as his infamous "Square Pizza." In 1956 Frank Sr. along with Frank Jr., moved the pizzeria to 7803 West Chester Pike in Upper Darby, where it grew into a full-service restaurant. Over the years the Pica family and their loyal upheld the policy the Frank Sr. started--that the customer always comes first.

I find Picas to be one of the best restaurants in Upper Darby. It is famous for its mouth watering pizza which is undeniably the best pizza ever. Its lunch specials, and dinner specials and excellent. The staff are all friendly and make you feel welcome. They also have a wide variety of food on their menu, and also a child's menu. This is a great place for all occasions; after prom, wedding reception, or just to have a party in one of their two reception halls. The wait staff is very helpful and go out of their way to make sure you have everything you want. The food was spectacular. I would recommend anyone with a upcoming event to use these facilities. After moving to Southern Maryland i'd visit my sister and drive an hour out of the way to get a Pica's Pizza. Now i'm in Newark, Delaware and the trip up I-95 to the Blue Route is worth it because when i get to West Chester Pike I know what's down the road. 5 stars all the way. Pros: GREAT Pizza! Me and my family drive forty-five minutes for this pizza. It is what I would consider unconventional in that it is square, and heavy on the sauce, but it is fantastic! Have not tried everything in the city, but there is none better in the western burbs or the Jersey shore! We eat a lot of pizza, and this is one you can't beat. Pros: Tops in pizza.
