Bridal Beginning is AMAZING! Best Bridal Store in PITTSBURGH!

by Callie M.

Perfect from start to finish! I loved every second of my wedding gown purchase at Bridal Beginning, my bridesmaids, and my mom's dress! We got everything from here! They have so many dresses its unbelievable. They were so knowledgable about everything. I was looking for the dress of my dreams and they made it possible. I found my perfect dress, and they suggested that I do a one shoulder tulle strap off to the side. IT WAS BEYOND PERFECT! My perfect dress was even more spectacular than I ever imagined. I wouldn't trust anyone else. I have always looked at bridal gowns and loved them in magazines but I never knew what I wanted. They had me try on so different styles, things I never thought to see myself in and I felt beautiful. They went above and beyond. Thank you thank you Bridal Beginning! Everyone should GO TO BRIDAL BEGINNING don't waste your time any where else!

Bridal Beginning ..A bad experience!

by Keri B.

When you walk into Bridal Beginnings it has so much of a selection, however some of the staff there are so rude and pushy. I went to Bridal Beginnings for my first stop to look for a Wedding Dress. The lady that I worked with brought me some dresses (more plain, because that's what I was looking for at first, but I was open to anything). My mom and I had some questions about dresses because we didn't have a lot of experience, and it was almost like we were being an inconvenience to her! I felt very uncomfortable. There was a dress there that I tried on and really liked and the lady asked me if I wanted to buy it that day. I said that I wanted to shop around first and if I was dead set on that dress, I would come back. The lady was very cold after I said that. It's almost like she just cared about her commission check and not about me and my desires. Three other brides that I know had a bad experience there as well. Bridal Beginnings ordered the wrong color for one of the girls, the other girl found a style for a bridesmaid dress that she liked for 7 bridesmaids and decided to cancel her order because of the rude staff, and the third bride bought a dress there and was treated poorly every time she went in there. I highly DO NOT recommend Bridal Beginnings to anyone! If you are shopping for a wedding dress or any types of dresses and bridesmaid dresses I HIGHLY RECOMMEND SORELLE BRIDAL SALON in Washington, PA! THEY GET A PERFECT 10! They have excellent customer service and amazing dresses. I bought my wedding dress there and my bridesmaids purchased their dresses there as well :)

Bridal Beginning has a good selection, but a high price

by Sara W.

I'm not exactly sure how to write this review...I had excellent customer service and really liked my salesperson. Not knowing what I wanted in a wedding dress, I was open to trying on many different gowns. My salesperson was very patient with me and helped me find the dress that I ultimately bought.

However, I did not buy from Bridal Beginning. Being a price conscious bride, I called other local bridal shops to price the exact same dress I saw at Bridal Beginning. I learned that Bridal Beginning was charging nearly $200 more for the dress than another local shop. Bridal Beginning told me that they couldn't believe that I found the dress for that much cheaper and that the dress sent to their store must have been mislabeled by the designer. They told me they would match the price of the other local bridal shop, and would not charge me for getting the gown pre-lengthed, normally $125. I kept my appointment for the other bridal shop and learned that the designer only charges $50 for getting a gown pre-lengthed. Bridal Beginning was making a $75 profit on an alteration that they do NOT do. After learning that I felt that I couldn't trust anything Bridal Beginning told me and decided to buy the dress from the other shop.

Bridal Beginning needs a crash course in customer service

by Jul M.

I went there to look for bridesmaid dresses, and when I walked in, no one asked if I needed help, even though I had an appointment. They ignored both me and my bridesmaid. When I approached the counter and said I have an appointment, the woman was very rude. I told her I already had my dress and she was even more rude about that!! She tried to hurry us out of there as fast as she could. I was asking about a dress my bridesmaid tried on, and the woman, who actually pulled the dress for us, claimed the store didn't carry it so she didn't have to find out information for me. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. There are other boutiques in the area with the same merchandise and way better service.

I had a great experience

by Kara B.

I had a very positive experience at Bridal Beginning, but I knew that I would because my sister got her wedding gown there 5 years ago and she had a positive experience as well.

When I first started looking for wedding gowns, I went to David's Bridal because I knew I would be able to see the dresses on the rack before I tried them on. I liked some of the dresses that I tried on there but after every dress that I said I liked, my sales person would ask if she should start writing it up. I was so taken aback by her pushiness and started to even get a little uncomfortable by having to continuously tell her that I was not going to be buying a dress unless I absolutely knew that it was the one.

BB was my second time trying on dresses and I loved it. My sales person was so patient with me when I would try and describe the dresses I wanted to see (because I didn't know all the lingo) and brought me everything that I asked to try on. And then when I tried a dress on and told her that I liked it except for a few cosmetic things, she brought in a seamstress and we talked about how we could change it so that it fit all my needs. We wrote out a plan to make it exactly the dress of my dreams and the best part is that it is not going to cost me an arm and a leg. I ordered my dress that day and I am so excited for it to come in.Then when I was done trying on dresses, my sales person helped me look at bridesmaid dresses, even though none of my bridesmaids were with me that day. She took the time to sit with me and my mother and discuss different colors for the bridesmaids (I'm having a rainbow wedding so I need to make sure that the dresses come in a variety of colors) and different styles that came in the colors I needed. The time she spent with me was amazing and my bridesmaids are going back to try on dresses in a few weeks.

They tried to rip me off!

by jr m.

I did not enjoy my experience there at all, they expect you to just describe you're dream dress and then they bring you stuff to try on, but if you've never tried anything on before it's hard to tell them what you're looking for! And you never get to see what your options are, I hated that! You're just stuck in this room and they bring you one dress at a time, and the sales lady seemed annoyed every time I told her I didn't like one of her selections.

Then a few weeks after shopping there they left me a kind of rude voice mail about how I needed to come in and order my bridesmaid dresses soon. a. I never said I was getting a dress there and b. my wedding was still like 11 months away!!!

The kicker was I did find a dress I liked and just for the hell of it I decided to try another store that carried that designer and compare prices and while the actual price of the dress was the same BB told me it was going to cost $200 to remove some pleats and $200 to remove beading, the other place showed me the designers quote book and it was $90 for the pleats and $25 for the beads, they were going to try and make a profit off of alterations I wasn't even having done at their shop! I was so angry, and would never recommend to anyone to go there I just thought that was so ridiculous!

Odd

by Duane L.

I find it odd that all the negative reviews were written all on the same day. Perhaps an upset employee? Perhaps you should all make your own decisions before you rely on the negative feedback that was left on here.

WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE FROM START TO FINISH

by Jaime P.

I have to say that I am very surprised at the negative reviews I have read here. I am sorry that the girls who wrote the previous negative reviews did not have a good experience at Bridal Beginning, but I would like to say that I, along with all of my bridesmaids, mother, and sister had THE BEST experience at Bridal Beginning.

To begin, the salespeople are all very NICE AND ATTENTIVE. The Bridal Beginning staff not only helped me for over an hour to find a dress, but also helped my mother and sister for as long as was needed to make sure they found the right selection. They had a great selection of dresses, and the saleswoman was very happy to help. Following the selection of my dress, every interaction I have had regarding orders, sizing, etc. has been great. I couldn't find the veil I had envisioned anywhere, and the Bridal Beginning consultant worked with me to create the veil I wanted.

Finally, the dresses are certainly not overpriced. I got the same dress at Bridal Beginning that I had seen in a boutique in Lexington, KY, but for less. I ended up saving money at Bridal Beginning, but would pay more just for the wonderful experience I had there.

From start to finish, Bridal Beginning could not have done it better. THANK YOU!

Wonderful experience and beautiful dresses...

by Brittni B.

I went to the Bridal Beginning after going to every other bridal shop in Pittsburgh and I wish I would have went there first. The staff was so helpful and their selection is unbelievable! When I walked in I couldn't believe how many dresses there were to pick from. I felt like a princess the whole time I was there. They listened to what I wanted and they brought me in dresses that I never thought I would like but fell in love with. They really know what they are doing. I bought my dress, my headpiece, my veil, and my bridesmaids dresses there. I have never felt so beautiful and my girls all loved their gowns. They all got a different style and looked fabulous. Every detail was perfect! Save yourself the agony of crumby service and poor taste and go straight to Bridal Beginning.

Find a Good Seamstress before you buy.

by Anonymous

The sales clerks are great and they will help you find the perfect bridal gown, but don't use their seamstress. She is rude, slow, and she will cut corners to get your dress out the door. I loved my dress, until she got her hands on it. A store of this caliber should select their seamstresses much more carefully.

Great Experience!

by jen s.

Before going to The Bridal Beginning, I researched a lot of bridal stores and read many of their reviews. While The Bridal Beginning had some negative reviews, as did many of the places around the area, I decided to try it anyway. I had a great experience and absolutely LOVED my salesperson. She was so incredibly helpful! So the best advice I can give is to try out different bridal shops. While some people may have had a bad experience, you may not. While reviews are helpful, some may mislead you. i.e. There is a review below that talks about the fact that the salesperson wanted the balance paid on the dress when the bride came in to try it on... When you order your dress, you sign a contract. On the back of that contract as well as your reciept, it states that the balance must be paid when you come in to try it on. So don't believe everything you read.

Not Recommended - Rude Staff

by Anonymous

I just finished by experience with BB. I purchased my wedding gown there and although I had no issue with my initial visit when I found my dress, I have nothing but bad things to say after that. My main issue with them is this: I had 3 fittings with them and every single time they took me late. The first two fittings were just about 20 minutes, so I wasn't that annoyed by it - although I did think it was strange that no one came over to say anything about when they would take me or apologize for the wait despite the fact that I had an appointment. But the last fitting is what really ticked me off. My last fitting was scheduled a week before my wedding and I was really planning on taking the dress home that day. Although I had an appointment, I sat there and waited for 40 minutes until I could try on my dress! The strangest thing about this experience was all these woman who were standing behind the counter kept looking at me and obviously knew I had been waiting for a long time and no one came over to me to apologize! Finally someone came over and asked me if I was Beth and when I said "no" they acknowledged that I was waiting to be fitted but did NOT apologize for making me wait. I was thinking the whole time that making me wait is one thing, but showing absolutely no consideration for my time is another. I would have really appreciated some acknowledgment that they were sorry for wasting my time. I was thinking do they really think I have nothing better to do a week before my wedding? I was ready to just ask for my dress and go when they finally took me.

Great Selection, Great Consultants, Great Experience

by Lizzie P.

I cannot believe all of the unpleasant things that have been written by formers customers of Bridal Beginning! My sister and I both bought our wedding gowns there and both had great experiences. We went together and had back to back appointments, which our consultant happily consolidated as our dress preferences began to overlap. Although we were trying on dresses at the same time, our consultant brought in as many dresses as we wanted and was very accurate in bringing dresses that we had described.

I can see how a bride-to-be would want to go into the racks and pick out her own dress, but that is not how bridal shops are managed! If a bride-to-be wants to do that, she should go to a discount shop or a giant retail chain and pick out the cheap dress that suits her. This is why Bridal Beginning has experienced bridal consultants - it is their job to find dresses to suit the bride.

I could not have been happier with the service I received at Bridal Beginning. Everyone there was attentive and accomodating - I cannot wait for my dress to come in!

Very helpful on a busy day!

by Katie D.

I went to try on dresses and make a purchase on the day after Thanksgiving- the first day of their Maggie Sottero trunk show. I had already tried on tons of dresses but hadn't fallen in love with anything, but I was determined to make a purchase that day in Pittsburgh (where I am getting married). My sales associate was fabulous. I tried on quite a few dresses, and she remained patient and understanding. She didn't try to sell me anything extra, brought me all new Maggie gowns that weren't even online yet, and didn't force me into anything.

Another plus- we were also going to purchase bridesmaid gowns that day. They handed me off to a different sales associate to help with that task. My sister, who wears a size 8-10 in regular clothes, was having a very hard time even getting into the sample gowns. After talking with Ashley, she brought us a few larger sample sizes, then managed to help lace-up the back of a gown my sister had tried on. Since my sister had actually been able to try something on, and Ashley helped cheer her up, we ordered four gowns that day. The store was crazy, but I felt like we were their only customers. It was fabulous :)

I have never been more insulted

by Kerri L.

I have never been more insulted as a customer in my entire life. When I first went to The Bridal Beginning I found a dress I loved and the staff was decent, but when my dress came in, it was a completely different story. I am a college student and they called me during a class to let me know my dress was in and had to leave a message. When I called back, Linda told me my dress was in and I could make an appointment to try it on. I called a couple weeks later to set up a Saturday appointment, but they were not open past five so I couldn't make it. I called back again and made a Monday appointment. My mother, bridesmaid, and I arrived and tried the gown on and when the sales woman suggested a veil and tiara and my mother told her we were not ordering anything else that day, she immediately demanded full payment on the wedding gown! My wedding is not until June and I was only intending on seeing the dress for the first time. It was not a fitting or anything and no measurements were taken. My mother was not prepared to pay at the time as no one had mentioned, in any of my conversations about making appointments to come in that the balance would be due. These woman told me that I was told about the payment being due when they called to tell me my dress was in and they were a little taken aback when I informed that that I never even spoke to anyone when my dress came in and all they did was leave a message. Linda then looked me in the face and told me that she specifically remembered telling me the balance was due which is a complete lie. I work in retail and if I were ever to tell a customer that they were lying or wrong, I would lose my job in an instant. Paying for the dress was not a problem, luckily my mother had her check book with her, and there would not have been any problem had they simply told us ahead of time that payment would be due. These women are very rude, unprofessional, and I will never use their services ever again and I truly hope that you do not put yourself through this hassle and just go somewhere else to find your perfect dress! Good luck!

Rude Rude Rude

by Anonymous

I made an appt for 12 noon (when they open). I arrived early and no one would let me in. When they finally did let me in, they made me wait as they stood around socializing.

They will also not let you pick out your dress, nor will they tell you the designer name.

I've already been married once, and this service was almost as bad as the first marraige. I will not go back.

Bad Attitude

by Alison F.

The bad attitude in this shop is unbelievable. I was in to check out veils. I had already decide which dress I wanted but had not purchased it yet. They assumed incorrectly that I had already purchased my dress. So when I asked to try on my dress with their veils selections I was told, " You can not try on a dress you have purchased elsewhere, because we don't want the wear and tear on our dresses." I was looking to purchase a $600 veil plus shoes and a tiara. Nasty attitude cost them all of my wedding business.

Jsut okay experience

by Gretchen F. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 10,179

I have been to BB several times as a Bride to be and as a Bridesmaid. I personally did not choose to use BB for my own big day. Staff are accomadating, but can be unpleasant at times. Selection was just okay.

Not Bad but not great

by Kristy G. | insider Insider | Rank: 27,506

I looked here for my wedding dress in '04. While the store itself was very nice, the service and way the business is run leaves much to be desired.

The first thing I did not like was the fact that you could not look for your own dress. You tell the sales assistant what "type" of dree you are looking for and then they bring the dress they think you would like into the dressing room. I did not like that.

The second thing I did not like was the fact that they would not tell you the designer of the dress until after you purchase the dress. I guess they did not want you to look else where for the same dress at a cheaper price.

Third - they were very over priced. The dress I liked I did my research and found it else where for about 30% less.
