Paolo's Italian Restaurant

This is,in my humble opinion, the best Italian resteraunt in the county. The food is superb, the portions enourmous and the service is beyond excellent. Every effort is made to satisfy your dining requirements,be it children , the elderly or dietary.You can taste the fresh ingredients in every selection and careful preparation. There are other excellent Italian resteraunts in the area but I would suggest that you use Paolo's as your your standard, THEN judge the rest. BRAVO

Honestly, this is the best Italian Restaurant in the Lehigh Valley in my opinion. I have been to many Italian places in the area which are very good but nothing beats Paolo in the kitchen making the food for you and put his heart and soul into it. The service is fantastic and always friendly. You can't beat the BYO option and the portions are immense. You always have enough to take home or have the option of sharing for a small sharing fee ($4-5).
Tips- go for the specials- they are worth it!
Avoid Friday or Saturday nights or go at off peak times- they are always packed

The portions are immense, so either split an entree or prepare for leftovers. My husband and I each ordered a dinner entree, and we took home enough food for a whole other dinner and a lunch. Their white clam sauce with linguini is my absolute favorite. They also use real ingredients--I can spot the garlic cloves chopped up in the sauce.

Alcohol is one complementary glass, or BYO. As a previous reviewer said, it really cuts the bill down, so I'm all for it.

It is in a strip mall, so it isn't the type of place you go to propose. However, I also think this tends to keep it nice and low-key for when you want a quick, no-fuss meal that isn't fast food.

We've been to Paolos twice now. We've been to many other "Italian" restaurants many other times. Paolos is easily at the top of the list for our favorite Italian restaurant.

The food is excellent! The portions are "multiple leftovers sized." Since we've been there twice, we've had four different entrees. All of them were unique and incredibly good.

There is no bar. They will give you one glass of wine with dinner or you can bring in your own bottle and have them uncork it. (At first I was disappointed with this until I realized how much this cuts down on the overall bill. Much cheaper to stop at the state store in Northampton on your way to Paolos. But the state store closes at 7 pm.)

The atmosphere is the biggest draw back for me to Paolos. It reminds me almost of the Friendly's that my grandparents used to take us to in Plukerman, NJ. Better than a diner, but not a "nice" Italian restaurant. It's located in a strip mall and they need more space than they have. Tables are kind of close together (but I'm getting used to this as a East Coast fact of life). This isn't a soft light romantic Italian restaurant. You don't go to Paolos for the atmosphere. But the food does more than make up for that and for the usually long wait. We try to go during the week so we don't have to wait so long. We've also found that going around 8:00pm makes for less of a wait.

Definitely worth the food! Have I mentioned how good the food is? Even as leftovers!
