It is not a big market but it is full of delicious foods you can buy to things to take home to cook or buy food made fresh at the market. There is everything from Japaneses to Mexican to southern cooking to amazing bakery goods. They also have a great selection for vegetarians, vegans, and people with food allergies!

My girlfriend and I had planned to stop at a restaurant on our last visit to Chestnut Hill...until we happened upon this place. You have to follow the signs, as it's not right on the avenue, but once you get in, you'll regret ever passing it up before. It functions almost as a mini Reading Terminal, with stands of fresh fish, fresh meat, and already prepared dishes. We got some enchiladas from the Mexican stand there, which were delicious, and found a garlic hummus that was the best either of us had ever had. Definitely well worth checking it out...if only for the free samples!

This is a great place to do some food shopping, particularly now that Caruso's and WaWa are no longer available. It is tucked away, but has a lot of types of foods and sellers. I like the yogurt smoothies and the Mexican stand.

You wouldn't expect to find a farmer's market with such variety in Chestnut Hill, but there it is, tucked away behind the Chestnut Grill and Hotel. Open only Thursday - Saturday, it features all kinds of fresh produce, meats, seafood, and take-out food counters. My favorite is the Middle Eastern place - the platters are a good deal, and they have great baklava. I've gotten great produce at the market for good prices, but some of the other items are a bit over-priced. Parking can be a pain on the weekends, and as there's very little seating, plan to take your food home rather than eat there.

PROS: Nice selection of fresh foods
CONS: Limited parking, seating
