I stopped here after dinner for Coffee & Dessert and let me tell you - It was the best part of the meal! Dinner was really good but Anthony's Coffee and Cannoli are GREAT! Not too many people can make killer Cappuccino's - but Anthony's

Anthony's Coffee House is nestled on the same sidewalk as many small, like-minded, family-owned stores and produce stands in the famous Italian market area. The inside seating area is quaint and small; just right for the weekday in-and-out crowd comprised of locals and some suburban stragglers, but there've been times where the space proves a bit tiny for the rush of weekend out-of-towners that come through, especially in the summer. (note: there are a few tables for outside seating that seem to relieve the overflow.)

Anthony's has 'cafe menu' covered.. and then some: coffee, cappuccino, pastries, paninis/sandwiches, soups, a whole wall of traditional Italian treats & candies, and a cart that sells Gelato on the sidewalk during the hotter days of the year.

They've also recently opened up Anthony's Candy shop which is maybe 2 shops away further south. As if there wasn't enough to dawdle over at the cafe, go to their specialty candy shop for your chocolate covered fruits, furthered selection of biscotti & candies, and other sweets that came from the boot-shaped country over in the Mediterranean.

Price-wise: you're paying the price for a cafe that seems to milk the tourist bit.
Customer service: sometimes you realize that people who work in occasionally high-volume 'specialty' shops are people, just like you and I. and that's ok.

The espresso was nice and smooth but I asked if the sfogliatelle was baked this morning, which they have to be because if not they get stale and like rubber very easily, the girl insisted they were fresh but as she put them on the plate I

Pros: Good Espresso

Cons: Stale Pastry

Anthony's has got to be the greatest, throw-back coffee house that I've ever seen. Ferrara's in New York is beautiful and great but Anthony's in South Philly is where me and my crew have our meetings over a coffee and cannolis.
