Wish I could give NO STARS. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. SLOW BAG REPAIR. EXPENSIVE. DISHONEST OWNERS. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I rarely give 1 stars so do heed this advice! I had the worst experience at Carlo's that I just need to share. Prior to this experience, we had gone to Carlo's before for other repairs and WILL NEVER GO BACK again.

Back in December, my sister needed to get her Betsey Johnson bag repaired again so we went here because it was close to where we live. My mom had already dropped off her bag just a few weeks prior and there was an issue with the zipper repair. My mom and I talked to the lady at the counter who said that it was our fault when my sister had only used the zipper on the bag twice since the repair. I mentioned that we had only used it twice and she brought the bag to her husband-Carlo (who she denies is and claims she is just staff which is not true) in the back and he gruffly said that he would not charge for the zipper repair and it would take awhile and not be top priority.

It's now the end of March and my mom went to Carlo's and the same staff lady denied that she and Carlo had ever said that there would be any charge and charged my mom the fee. I think it's absolutely ridiculous to charge full price for a bag to be picked up about 4 months later, when we were told that the fixup from the previous fixup would be free of charge. The staff lady also started yelling (how unprofessional) and holding my sister's bag hostage until my mom paid for the bag. My mom ended up paying for a bag that took 4 months to repair. Ridiculous.

I think that if Carlo was going to decide 4 months later to go back on his word and decide to charge for a service that he said would be free, Carlo should have had the common courtesy to call my mom. After all, Carlo has the phone numbers and say why there would be a charge, and give my mom the option of whether or not she wanted the charge. 4 months is a long time for a service that is being charged for. It does not take 4 months to repair a zipper. My mom and I were patient because there was originally supposed to be no charge. Ridiculous.

Also, I should mention that during the yelling from the woman, Carlo refused to come out from the back and was hiding while yelling. He couldn't even face my mom eye-to-eye regarding his previous word. Do you really want to do business with someone who retracts their word, and yells back at you? How unprofessional. Also, the lady said that my sister's bag was an expensive bag, basically implying they charge more for the same work depending on what you bring in. So if you bring in an expensive pair of shoes, Carlo's Shoe Repair will charge you more for the same work as if you brought in a cheaper pair of shoes, which doesn't make sense. The same technique and work should be the same price no matter what.

What kind of business is Carlo's Shoe Repair? They are EXTREMELY DISHONEST, SLOW, RUDE, AND PRICEY. Take your hard earned dollars anywhere else.

Some people consider shoes to mean tires but Carlos Shoe Repair is mainly for the ones that you were on your feet and walk on everyday. The shop is really small and seems to have been open for many of years. They are able to service you within a couple of days due to the back log of shoes previously brought in. They did fix my shoe so I can't complain I just wished they did it a little quicker.

There isn't many "good ole'shoe-repair people,around..Carlos is very handy,in Southampton shopping ctr..lots of parking,,drop off shoes,boots,handbags even suitcases--to be repaired..you will get --a price up front so you will see if the article is worth the repair..and the day things will be repaired and ready..a little pricey,,something we all pay for a lost talent..
