If this restaurant were closer to my home or had better parking I would be there more often. We frequent the Singapore as much as possible. The staff is always friendly and Peter is very accommodating. I love the vegetarian menu because I know that I can eat anything on the menu.

Pros: The menu is varied and large. Something for everyone.

Cons: The parking is poor because it is downtown.

We have eaten at Singapore for about 28 years. We had our daughter's
Wedding Dinner in the Upstairs Private dining room. When our kids come to visit from out of town, they insist on a meal at Singapore every time they come. We love the General Tsao's Chicken and Dim Sum platter. Often we ask Peter to use whichever veggies are in season to make up a platter like Orange Beef with those veggies. Yum!!

Pros: Family Atmosphere; Delicious Food; Inexpensive

Pros: thumbs down

Cons: the service stinks!

Love this place! Some of the best Chinese food in Philly. Food tastes great and can't be beat for the prices (10 dollar lunch specials). And, you can even order the lunch specials on the weekends!

Main courses: General Tso's chicken is top notch. Tastes even better than the real thing. This is my favorite on the menu.

Soups: Stay away from the Sharkfin soup. It looks like mucus. The miso soup on the lunch special is great!

Best buys: Lunch specials (soup and entree)

The fried wonton noodles are also really tasty!

The All You Can Eat Dim Sum Platter is trash, after two bites of the Dim Sum makes me feel bad. I will tell my friends that I will never come back again.

My second-favorite veggie restaurant in Philadelphia. Good food, mock meat products, reasonable prices. Out of 4 or 5 visits, we had "bad service" once.

This place is one of the few places where there is Kosher and Vegetarian chinese food. The food is all very good (in that it tasted like real chinese food, even the meat tastes real). The main problem is that the food is really greasy. I would say that it is double the grease of normal chinese food (no kidding).

The price of the food is also a little higher than other places, but you can expect that with a place that specializes in vegetarian food anyway.

PROS: Vegetarian food
CONS: Price, grease

I eat here all the time. There are a handful of very good vegetarian Chinese restaurants in Chinatown, but this one's my favorite. Maybe it's because Peter, the owner, goes way out of his way for his customers, maybe it's the addicting "Beef" in Black Bean sauce or General's "Chicken", maybe it's all the vegetarian & animal rights brochures on the little tables to your right as you walk upstairs & into the restaurant. Maybe it's because they already know what I want before I do. Whatever it is, this place is heaven. And the food is out of this world.

If you take a hard core meat eater to this restaurant, please do nto give the "It tastes just like chicken" speech. The meat substitutions at Singapore are very similar to the tastes of meat, but you have to ust tell die-hard meat eaters that the food is DELICIOUS and that they MUST try it. I love vegetarian food and I love dining at this place. It is beautiful and the food is awesome. Almost anything you can order off your typical Chines Menu can be ordered without meat. It's all very good.

Singapore has a long and varied menu, and guarantees that all items are completely vegetarian - and kosher parve, to boot! The servers are extremely friendly and willing to explain any item on the menu. We were even told that items in combo meals could be substituted just pick what you want and well work it out. We started with the hot and sour soup, which was very hot and very sour, had great aroma, and a good mix of veggies. All of our appetizers and main dishes were delicious, but I especially recommend the moo shu vegetables and the spicy bean curd in sizzling platter. The faux meat dishes almost tasted like the real thing! As for perks, the portions are huge, they are very generous with the sauces, and the fortune cookies come to you with orange slices, fried bananas, and hot damp cloths.

A great place! Makes me glad I live in Philadelphia, since Philly is blessed to have a great place like this. Tasty Veggie food. Good for large groups of people since it is rather large. Food is nicely presented. I have had their Moo Shoo "pork" and their Szechuan (sp?) "shrimp", both are recommended. They have lunch specials too and the prices can't be beat.

I have had a problem with service. The food takes a bit to long to arrive IMHO. However, it is worth the wait. Great place to take a date.
