I have been a huge High Street Caffe for year - it is always at the top of my list when I'm looking for a fun dining experience for guests or a to celebrate a special event. This place is lively and friendly, with a unique decor and an even more unique menu. Love the Voodoo Crawfish (XXX hot) and Jambalya salad. I miss the good old days when BYO was a free ride, but otherwise this place just keeps on getting better with age!

Food is typically great, but it's difficult to hear in this small, fairly crowded space, especially on the weekend. I would typically have rated the restaurant higher because of the quality of the food, but just last week both my husband and I found our jambalaya not as good as usual. Still we like it enough to go back again, it was probably just an off night.

Every time I go to to High Street Caffe, I wonder why to don't go more often. We don't get out much and when we do, it's got to be good. The food is wonderful. The entree portions are large so I have learned that in order to get the delicious appetizers, just plan on taking half of the entree home for lunch the next day! The prices are excellent when compared with the quality and quantity of food. They usually have someone playing guitar - always very pleasant. Be aware that they now have a liquor license - you can BYO wine but they charge an uncorking fee. The menu is on their web-site.

The decor of the restaurant is really wild - deep purple walls, beads, a hint of voodoo and a concrete alligator out front. We were lucky enough to score the window seats on a Saturday night. Reservations are a must for this restaurant.
The service was top notch. The service team was on top of everything and not intrusive. They really have a great group of employees - it was evident that they all enjoyed working there and it showed through the service.
The food was excellent. We started off the evening with the bisque of the day and the garlic butter artichokes. The bisque was excellent - great flavor and lots of seafood. The artichokes were very good, not overpowered with garlic, but very tasty.
For the entree, we had the barbequed salmon, which was a very interesting twist on salmon. It was quite good. We also had the Pecan Chicken with Shrimp Bourbon Orleans, which was excellent. This dish had an almost sweet cream sauce with it, quite excellent.
The dinner came with bread, which was very good. The butter was spiced up, with a spice that is very similar to Emeril's Essence. Very yummy.
It's a BYOB for wine.
I would recommend this restaurant. The food was excellent, service excellent and it was a lot of fun to be there. The restaurant has a great high energy vibe with it. This would be a great place to bring a group of fun people. And don't be worried about the food being too spicy - there are lots of options on the menu that include spicy creole items as well as many items without the fire.

It looks like a little hole in the wall, dark and foreboding inside, but don't let that fool you... it has some of the best food I've ever tasted. We keep going back, and haven't had a bad meal yet. The service is great and the eclectic mix of foods is unbeatable. Try the popcorn crayfish salad and don't forget the voodoo... The place is also a blast with a large group, but don't forget to bring the wine.

Dark atmosphere. Purple velvet. Candles. But that's just the fun part. Wait until you see the menu!
My sister lives in New Orleans, but we were going to High Street for my birthday. She said this was the best "gourmet" cajun food outside of her city (I believe she had some sort of fish stuffed with crab).
Don't expect to see po'boys and muffaletta here. This is high-class cajun, and it's absolutely wonderful.
This restaurant is BYOB, so bring your own choice of alcohol. And make your reservation EARLY (at least a week), as it fills up fast.
Live music sometimes on the weekends (just a guy with a guitar, but nice).

PROS: Oh, the food, the food... the food
CONS: Tables squished together, gets very noisy

High Street Cafe is the BEST restaurant i have ever been to and believe me, food is what i live for. Between the atmosphere and the ecletic dishes this place has you wanting more enough though you have already loosed your button on your pants. The dishes are great if you are a fan of canjun or not the mixture of spices are perfect. Aligator and ostrich apps and courses are absolutely fantastic! A great way to catch a taste is also to see them in the Annual West Chester Restaurant Festival in September. Keep up the GREAT work guys ;-)
sincerely,
a devoted fan!
