I love shopping for my fresh produce here. Everything is very fresh, much of it grown right at the farm. Their apples are the very best. Highly recommend.

It must have been 50 years ago that we started to take a ride for apples to Glen Willow Orchards. For our children who eventually totaled 6, the ride from Wilmington to Avondale was a treat. They moaned as we went through the mushroom places. They tried to hold their breath but now the smell is hardly noticeable. Over the years there have been a few changes at the farm but the apples were always the reason for the trip. We like the other fruits and vegetables. I remember that our youngest son like the Cortland apples and we were always given that one Cortland apple on top of the basket of Macintosh apples. Those children are now ages 38 to 58 and they started their own tradition, with trips to Glen Willow with their own children. Lots of good memories with everyone enjoying an apple on the way home, And all the things that were made from the apples. One favorite went well with roast pork or even just pork chops. I used the Macintosh, cored them and cut them across in about a quarter inch thickness and put a couple of pats of butter in a large iron frying pan and dipped the apple rings in granulated sugar and put them in the pan, sprinkled cinnamon on them and cooked them until they were soft and it made the whole house smell good, not air freshener was needed. They were served warm with the roast pork.
