Reviews for Sallavanti & Cotter Family Medicine

Ratings_icons Poor Customer Service

Mark D.

I have been a patient at Sallavanti & Cotter for about eight years. Recently, I changed jobs. Thus, changing health insurance companies. As a result, one of my blood pressure medications required a pre-authorization from my insurance company. The process requires the pharmacist to fax a request to my doctor which was done on November 9, 2009. My doctor's office should then follow up with my health insurance company to ensure that I have been taking this medication and still need to. I learned that as of December 15, 2009 Sallavanti and Cotter's office did not contact my health insurance company to move this along. After several days of checking on the status of this, I was able to get some samples of this medication from my S&C but no one was able to give me a progress report. It wasn't until December 15 after being on hold for more than 15 minutes, that I learned that nothing had been done. In fact, I was told that they just received the request from my doctor that day - which was not true.

This is not a direct reflection of the doctors and direct care staff. For the most part, medical staff is pretty solid. The support staff however, does not provide the level of customer service one comes to expect. There has been a significant decline in quality of the support staff over the last 3-4 years and my experience serves as a prime example.

There is a noticeable improvement at the front desk of this office. I have been a patient for many years and this is the best my wife and I have seen it. I had a billing problem and spoke to the new office manager- she was efficient, not demeaning and she brought me right to the billing department where our problem was worked out. Kudos to to the Doctors for their new hiring.

Ratings_icons Great back office!

I have been a patient with this group of doctors for over 15 years. The doctors and certified registered nurses, especially, are wonderful. I mainly see the CRNPs because they are extremely caring and knowledgeable. The only downside is the front office staff tends to be a little "short" and impersonal. 99% of the time when you call, you are immediately asked if you can be put on hold so you never get to even ask to be transferred if that's what you need. If you can look past the reception, these doctors are some of the very best in the area.

Ratings_icons WONDERFUL DOCTORS!

If you are looking to change doctors, I highly recommend the entire staff at Sallavanti and Cotter. They are professional, caring people, who take the time to sit down, talk with you and give you options.
I had the misfortune of being bitten by a "highly unusual insect" this past July. I was in the doctor's office 3x a week in the beginning. (obviously this was more than just a bite!). From the receptionist to everyone else I came in contact with, their concern was genuine. They monitored the treatment and made changes as needed.
My previous doctor's office never showed concern. I always felt people could drop dead there and they wouldn't even notice.
If you are looking to change doctors, I urge you to get into this practice before they stop taking new patients!
