I have lived at this park place for 6 months. THere has been nothing but issues there. Dog poop everywhere, infested with fleas and bugs. The manager is down right rude and only cares about money. We had problems with people upstairs making noise all thru the night. We reported them and called the cops, still having same issue. We wanted to down size and they wanted another 300.00 for a transfer fee cause we were not there for a year, this is bs. We did not turn in our keys yet and we received mail and the manager did not sign for it and said we moved out in the middle of the night, and that is false. We still live there till we turn in our keys and she was rude on the phone with me said did we pay our rent yet and hung up on me. There is always cops there for domestic violence and the manger has known this and it was like 5 times the same couple fighting and they keep letting it go. THe lady kicked her male friend out and he was sleeping in the laundry room. They dont think about how we are doing, it is all about them and how they can get more money out of people there. I would not recommend living there. They charge for everything. How is people to make it today if they keep taking from you. There is nothing there for you to do there besides a pool..who cares..there needs to be more activities for what you are paying there. Something needs to be done or they are going to lose everyone from going to this place. They also changed the locks on the door and did not tell you about it and you had to use another door ..we have rights to know why and what is going on, and for them to give us another key. You have to find out yourself or others tell you. cause management does not say or let you know on anything like it is a big secret. Poor management !!!!!!!

Park Place USED to be a great place to live. The manager and daughter do their best to keep everyone happy. However, I have lived here three years with no problems. This past week people moved in above me who bang, scream, fight into all hours of the nite. I have called the police 5 times, but there is nothing they can do. I've had the maintenance person come to listen to the noise and he was amazed and said it sounded like 'elephants'. The manager will do nothing to help, as 'THEY' have rights. I would not recommend living here because management does nothing about MY rights. These people scream and fight every nite and I have documentation to prove it, but to no avail. STAY AWAY FROM PARK PLACE APARTMENTS in South Park, PA 15129

I have been living in at the Park Place apartments for a few months now. I have had several problems with the way the complex is managed. When I first moved in, they gave me incorrect keys to the apartment. They had to come and change the locks on the door because they could not find the correct key to give me. Once that was corrected, I discovered that I had also been given an incorrect mail box key. I went to the office to get the key that worked and was given four keys to try and told to throw the ones that didn??t work away. The next problem arose when the box to buzz people into the apartment didn??t work. I was told that my out of state area code was not compatible with their system. After that I went to collect a package that had been left for me in the office and was given the wrong package. I had to inform the office staff that they were not correct since I seemed to be the only one paying attention. The management team in the main office seems to be rather clueless about running an apartment complex. They also tend to say the will call you right back and never do. I feel like I am spending lots of time trying to keep them organized.
Along with the managerial problems, I have had a few problems with the maintenance staff. I had two leaks in the apartment in the few months that I have lived here. Once I reported them, it took them a week to come and assess the problems. Then it took them another month to come and start fixing the issues. One window they caulked three times, on three separate very spread out visits before it stopped leaking. The other leak required that they had to tear out the wall. So far it has been approximately one month of several people scheduling things and about half the time not showing up. I have been told that there are more important issues in the building, that people have called in sick and that they do not have the correct supplies. As far as I can tell, like the management of the apartments, they are totally lost and confused. I would not recommend moving here, please save yourself the trouble and frustration. I intend to leave as soon as I can.

After living at PPA for 12 years, the previous property manager gave me a 30-day notice to leave. She was given a 30-day notice the day I left. Her being fired is justified! Enough said about that. After living in many places throughout my 61 years, PPA was the best! Through the 12 years as a resident, many upgrades were made. Some upgrades can still be made. I'll move back there in the future if possible.

Some reasons why I enjoyed living at PPA are:

Inside upgrades/features: new windows and sliding glass doors recently installed, appliances were kept in good working order, new air conditioners installed in the past few years, repairs and replacements made quickly, ample closet space, halls wide and well lighted, washers and dryers on each floor, money credit card eliminates using quarters, garbage shuts on each floor, large storage lockers on each floor, gathering place for special events.

Outside upgrades/features: new roofs, pool restored to a "new" condition with adjoining pavilion with picnic benches, always a place to park.

Most of the upgrades were made since the new owner's bought PPA.

Allegheny County's South Park next door. It's a great place to walk, jog, picnic, check out wildlife (wild turkey, ducks, buffalo), attend a summer concert and much more. There are many playground areas for children throughout the park.

My boyfriend and I decided its time to get an apartment at the begining of the year. Park Place was the first place we looked at and we loved it. We made the decision that day, we wanted to move there. The new owner and her daughter are MORE than nice. They are very respectful and were full of energy. I can't believe what is being said about them. It's not true at all. I cant wait to move in this spring. The place is beautiful. the new apartments are breath-taking. So, my advice to anyone whos going to let the negitive reviews make the decision for them....don't. Because you'll love it just as much as we do.

I think that a lot of the reviews on this website are being used in order to put down employees who work at Park Place Apartments. The unit is in a transition period which can bee deemed a trying time. The current property manager and her daughter are both honest, delightful people who deserve far more credit then they are being given. Not to mention it is highly inappropriate to speak poorly about someone who isn't available to defend themselves. Frankly, it reads a little spiteful.
Moving on....
I have lived at Park Place for 6 years off and on. I find it to be a really nice place to live. No one ever bothers you. My apartment is very large and if something needs repaired, I call and its done within a few days. Let's be honest, its a large apartment complex, therefore it takes a little while for the maintenece people to work different tasks. I would recommend it to anyone who asked. The location is wonderful as it's in the middle of South Park, which allows for endless activities for children. My daughter is 2 and she has lived at park Place her whole life and loves it and is proud to call it home!

I want to add to some of the comments. I have been a resident for going on 6 years and they just fired the best manager Park Place ever had! Alot of rumors, she made too much money, she spent too much money??? Isn't that what you do on a property? The staff tells the residents different stories. This place has become a joke. The girl who replaced Mrs. Bernardi doesn't know what she is doing & yes she gets EXTREMELY flustered! Why in the world would they hire her daughter? The office is always closed and you can never get ahold of anyone. I never had those problems with the previous manager. She showed interest in this place and the residents, which is more than I can say about the new one.

I lived at Park Place for four years. In those 4 years a lot of improvements were made and the apartments have been modernized greatly. The ownership changed hands in 08 and at first a lot of money was invested into the property. A lot of improvements are still needed. The parking lot is so bad that you take a risk driving through it. The old onsight manager was very nice but was fired 2 months ago. The new onsight manager is very new to the business and does not really understand what she is doing. Her daughter is the rental agent, so what does that tell you. Get the manager upset or question her about anything and she gets very defensive and flustered. I think the property will change hands again soon because the owner is sinking into financial trouble.

Cons:
- Mgmt was unwilling to replace or remove stains from countertops prior to move-in. Pretty unsightly.
- Also, unwilling to restain kitchen cabinets that had some water damage.
- Party room was used as a selling point, promising many activities, then turned into a maintenance workshop within our first year.
- No bathroom at pool. Must walk back to apartment unit.
- Alot of moisture gets into apartment. We keep a dehumidifier running and it fills completely every other day.
- Would love to see the parking lot repaved.
- No where for children to play outside within the grounds. Not a big deal if you don't have children.

Pros:
- HUGE apartments at an affordable rate.
- Quiet, friendly neighbors.
- Beautiful pool area.
- Convenient laundry facilities.
- Unit was freshly painted and carpeted as promised.
- Close to park. Lots of nature trails, wildlife, etc.

A nice place to live if you don't require anything fancy. I wouldn't mind staying for a while. Staff seems neither friendly nor unfriendly, but they do what needs to get done. Haven't had any problems with appliances breaking other than when we first moved in, the disposal was on the fritz. Maintenance came right away and fixed it, no problem. Sometimes neighbors and cleaning staff leave building doors propped open which makes me feel unsafe, but I haven't had any problems. Also, if someone forgets their key, they wait until someone is either coming or going and just comes in when the door is opened.

I just moved in after taking awhile to decide what apartment and the staff is wonderful. I was kind of a pain because I wanted an apartment with a newer kitchen and was waiting for one to come, no luck there, but I really wanted to live here so I took another apartment. The noise level is quiet low, infact I barely ever hear anything inside my apartment but a passer by in the hall once in awhile. At night it is quiet and peaceful. I never have to wait for a washer or dryer. I really have no complaints about this place. I am quite happy here and think I am going to stay here for awhile. They gave my apartment all new carpet and paint and I love it. If there are any apartments available I would most definately suggest Park Place Apartments. The rent is very good price and everything in my apartment is electric. I haven't really had to use my heat so far so that is a plus. It stays an even temp in my apartment. They keep everything really clean. The staff is very helpful and always has been available if I needed them. I have NOT seen any kind of bugs, mice, rats or anything else creepy crawly. If it helps...I rented my apartment sight unseen, the people had not moved out yet so another resident was kind enough to show there apartment and I trusted the staff that mine would be the same. No complaints at all, my kitchen went a different way but I actually like this one better, so all is great. I can tell you this is a great place to live and the staff are very helpful and kind. They have an inground pool and barbeque area too. Love it here!!!

Maintainence service is slow, but sometimes acceptable. It's somewhat convenient having a rental office nearby so you can go complain about the (many) things that go wrong, but generally their solutions are fairly crappy (duct-tape to solve a hole in bathroom ceilings). The staff is pseudo-friendly, as long as you pay your rent on time, but they get hostile if you call the Health Department about mice or rats...Prices used to be reasonable, but I heard they've been going up about 10% every year which would make them outrageous by now.

Your mileage may vary with this Place. Just make sure you look over the apartment you're renting very carefully before signing a lease.
