I've eaten at Pietro's off and on for what amounts to over 10 years now.. (wow). Over the years the service has gone up and down but the food has remained consistently excellent. Everything seems to be made from scratch and is suprisingly affordable. I think that's why even in this climate of economic uncertainty with restaurants all around closing up shop, pietro's still has groups of people spilling out of their doors waiting for a table on the weekends.

Every time I've ordered the pasta, it's always been served al-dente -- like it should. The sauce is always fragrant and fresh.

The "poached chicken salad" is by far my favorite. It's styled similar to a cobb salad, with bacon, eggs, avocado, spring mix greens, etc but their dressing is really what makes it. It's delicious despite the funny name.

As for the service, like I said, it's hit or miss... but keep in mind that it's not styled as a white-tablecloth fine dining place... think pizzeria uno.. not le bec fin...

They don't serve sandwiches or pannini or anything like that... just pasta, pizza, and salads, so if you're in the area and are in the mood for such, give them a try, I'm sure you won't be dissapointed.

I used to go to Pietro's a lot but have been extremely disappointed the past few times I've been there. Maybe it's the economy and the ingredients they're buying, but their food is not as great as it used to be. If you want great pizza, which is MUCH better than Pietro's, try Stella or Osteria. You could even try Slice, which is right around the corner. In addition, the staff at Pietro's is rude, and the waiters and waitresses have not gotten my order correct on multiple occasions. I, too, have dealt with the manager, Tony, and he is definitely not someone I would want running my restaurant if I owned one. If you are looking for a pleasant dining experience with good food, Pietro's is not the place to go.

I have never been treated as awfully as the staff treated me when I dined with my friends at Pietros. We actually left the restaurant because of the horrible and rude manager Tony. Who claims no one is above him and he is the god of the restaurant world. I will never go back to this overpriced rude restaurant. Every time I have been there it is one bad experience after another. Pietros is awful and their pizza is not that great.

I went here with some co-workers after work one day and we had a good time. The food was good (the pasta with the arugula was delicious) and they had an above-average beer selection. The place had average prices--not expensive, but not cheap either. The service didn't stand out as being anything exceptional or terrible. The whole experience was pretty middle-of-the-road and average. Nothing special here, but if you like Italian food, I would check it out at least once.

I do not care for the atmosphere here - it's large and sterile and has that chain restaurant feeling, but the brick over pizza is really very good. Try the simple and delicious white pizza with garlic and arugula.

I don't like this Pietro's quite as much as the south Street restaurant. I think the way the food is prepared is slightly different, rending not quite the same tastes. This restaurant we like to go to for work lunches though because they have room for big groups.

Pietro's is located just around the corner from The Curtis Institute of Music and it's the perfect place to go for dinner before one of the thrice-weekly student recitals. The pizza is world-class with a choice of many, many different toppings. Their pasta fagiole is wonderful, as is their minestrone. Salads are huge and usually are ordered family style. There are nightly specials as well as a large choice of entrees listed on the menu. Best of all, your bill won't break the bank. It's too bad Pietro's is not a byo because the wine and beer list leaves something to be desired. Regardless, I love Pietro's.

Pizza's great. Pasta dishes are great. Salads are great. I like the food. I hate sitting in the back during the summer though because it gets too hot. I've never had a problem with their service. Parking is a real pain, but that's center city for you. I've dined their a couple times and would like to go again.

I am a professional food taster, and I know food! I have had the best of the best, and boy this place has great pizza! I have eaten here numerous times with family members, and the Pizza is phenomenal. Because of the use fresh ripe plum tomatoes, thehe sauce is sweet. They use fresh bufalo mozerella for all pizzas, and their toppings are great as well. The ambience is nice and overall this restaurant is great for the reasonable prices and has decent ambience. If your new to phillyy, this place is a must.

While driving back to Boston from DC, my son and I decided to make a slight detour and return to Pietro's. The traffic was crazy in the area and my wife was really second-guessing our decision to go out of our way just for pizza - until we arrived and were quickly served. Surprisingly, plenty of metered parking was available one block from the restaurant.

The service was extremely attentive and the pizza was first-rate; spicy pepperoni and fresh basil and mozzarella sit atop a slightly sweet sauce. The calamari appetizer was fresh, lightly battered, and offered as a substantial portion. The seafood soup lobster bisque with finely shredded crabmeat - could have used a bit more zip, but was very pleasant, particularly when served with the fresh, crusty rolls that were ever-present on our table. Prices were very reasonable; lunch for three was $39 excluding tip and drinks. Pietro's is definitely worth checking out if you're new to the area or a return trip if you're fortunate to have been there before.

We've always had very good pizza at Pietro's. The crust is nicely charred, the sauce tangy and not sour, the cheese gooey, and with green basil leaves on top, it's one of the better pies in Philly at the moment. The problem lies with the appetizers, including only average calamari and bitter broccoli rabe, as we have yet to find any we like all that much. The service has always been attentive, and although some of the tables are spaced too closely, the atmosphere is generally relaxing. So stick with the pizza and you will have a winner.

Pietro's is great for large groups....everything is easily shared and portions are HUGE...the only problem here is deciding who's going to take the leftovers home at the end of the night

This is my favorite place to get pizza! It is so nice to sit outside and people watch when it is a beautiful day. It was a lot larger than I expected inside. There are a lot of families there but, at the same time, it is romantic. The portions are large, so keep that in mind when you order. I take clients here for lunch and they love it.

Pros: Great Food and Service

Cons: None that I can think of!

I went to Pietro with a colleague for lunch. Being lunchtime the place was crowded, but we were lucky to get a table without any wait. I will have to say that the service at this place is extremely impersonal, from the person who showed us to our table to the waitress who waited on us. The food though is delicous and reasonably priced. We were served with 10 min of placing our order. We ordered 2 entrees and 2 drinks and the total bill came to $30.

Horrendous, angry, unapologetic service. Both slow and unfriendly -- the staff acted as if our patronage was a burden and never smiled even once. I learned upon arrival that they lost my reservation, but they offered no solution nor apology. After begging for a table, the 12 of us crammed into an 8 person table (being noon, the place was empty). After waiting 30 minutes for our waitress, we had to ask the manager for her. He scowled at us and acted like it was our fault that our waitress hadnt stopped by. When our food arrived, she stopped by only after another 20 minutes. Finally, I mentioned politely upon leaving that the service was underwhelming and the manager said I dont care we get plenty of business anyways and said it was our fault for taking too long to order.... of course, we were waiting for our waitress!

My boyfriend and I found Pietro's on this website and, after reading the good reviews, decided to give it a try. It is AMAZING. The food is absolutely delicious (you will never have better pizza or salad). If you're looking for a cheap Italian dinner, this is the place to go. We've gone three or four times, and each time we split a pizza and a salad, which is more than enough--we always end up taking a few slices home with us, and that dinner usually only costs us around $25. The restaurant is adorable, especially if you get a seat up front, overlooking the street. The food always comes quickly and is always great. I would recommend everyone in the city pay a visit to Pietro's!

great, relatively inexpensive italian spot in Rittenhouse Sq. area of town. Not much parking, which I guess is a con, but living in the city its not so much of a big deal. I had a 10 minute wait at a very busy time Saturday night. The waitress took really good care of us until we got our food and then she kinda of disappeared. No problem, at the time, but if I had needed something it could have been a problem. The Greek salad was amazing, and LARGE! The pizza was also very very good. Lots of choices for pizza with both white and tomato sauces, small 10" size and larger 16" (I think). For two, my girlfriend and I, split a salad and a small pizza. With the bread that was a plenty and came out just under $30.00!

Received extremely poor customer service from management & waitstaff. Main course served, husband sat for 10 minutes, arms crossed (waiting for requested glass of water that he never received), never touched food. Waitress realized meal was not touched, explained sauce too watery, had weird smell, she offered talk w/manager, get him something else. Ten minutes later, manager arrives, looks @it, explains nothing wrong with meal, has it wrapped. Put my fork down, push dish to side, that & empty glasses on table, waitress walks past us three more times, never acknowledging us. When she comes back, ask her to wrap my meal also. Five minutes later, comes back and takes meal, ten minutes later get wrapped food & check. Never asked about drink refills! As we leave, almost get knocked over by member of waitstaff never get an excuse me/apology. Staff is quite rude & really should be taught manners.

It was busy, but we were seated immediately and the attention from the wait staff was good. The salad was fine, hot bread was great. But the pizza -- fantastic! The crust was very good. For toppings we chose meatball. Here they do it right. Their meatball is actual meatball sliced thin and placed on the pizza, not crumpled ground meat. It was a pleasure eating here after a long day of the sights in Philly.

This place looks really nice. I had to walk in after seeing a few patrons eating pizza next to the window seats. We ordered the stuff mushrooms, which was spicy and good. Then we had the pizza with eggplant toppings. The price and services was excellent.

This is a good pic in the Rittenhouse area for a very satisfying meal. Generous portions abound--definitely plan on bringing home extras. But it's not just about quantity; the pizza is fresh-tasting, the pastas a cut-above-average, the fresh bread very tasty. It's a good choice for a group of people; you can even order family-sized pasta bowls and make out very inexpensively.

Service is generally adequate-to-very good, generally much more pleasant than at several other Italian eateries in the area. It can get crowded so show up early at dinner time!

I thought this was perhaps the best pizza I've had in Philly (Mind you I have not eaten at every place on the top ten list.) I like Lombardi's around the corner but have found it in consistent. Sometimes it's great but others its bland. This pizza had all the basics covered. Flavorful sauce, fresh mozzarella, and the chicken was not dry. I definitely come back. It can also accomodate large parties.

The pizza is good, but not as good as nearby's Lombardi'. However, the salads are wonderful, all of them are worth a try. Get the family size and share with your friends, especially the Caesar with shaved romano cheese slices on top. Great balsamic dressing. And yummy warm rolls to go with. The service can be slow, but nice atmosphere and good food at reasonable prices make up for it.
