Took my puppy to Highland park animal hospital about a month ago. The office is very clean and the staff is very helpful and nice. I had a appointment to get my puppy vaccines, i also had questions on spaying her. The doctor was very helpful in explainging the surgery to me and answered all my questions. He also had a very positive attitude!! I HIGHLY reccommend HPAH! They also offer boarding services.

PS after reading all the reviews i had to ask them, CAROL is no longer working there! lol

I boarded my dog there recently. My dog seemed happy enough when I picked her up, but I walked away upset by their billing practices. I asked for a estimate as I dropped my dog off. The estimate I received was for $217 for the week, which included grooming. When I picked my dog up, $295 was charged to my credit card. That actual bill was higher but it was reduced after I asked why they billed me for a Bordertella vaccination. My dog had that vaccine just two months ago. It was clearly marked on the records I dropped out with her. That charge was removed but I am unhappy my dog got an unnecessary shot. They charged me $55 to groom my dog (which I had authorized) and another $28 to sedate her (which I did not authorize). My concerns: Why didn't they call me to get permission to sedate her? Why didn't they consider if this dog was so stressed out by the experience, they may just wish to forgo those services? Shouldn't they have allowed me to make that decision? It is my expectation that my VET should 1) disclose all charges and monetary commitments honestly up front, and 2) contact me anytime my boarded pet becomes so stressed out it requires sedation. Patients, doctors and pets must trust each other. That trust must be built by a foundation of transparency, mutual respect and caring.

This is the worst vet office I have ever been to. I was there for a wellness exam/annual shots, and to explore the possibility of boarding my dog. The majority of my dog's visit was attended to by Carol, the "office manager", who I found out is not licensed to treat animals in ANY way. She was quite rude, cold, and didn't answer any of my questions. My main concern is that this "office manager" should not be treating dogs in any capacity. I don't understand why my pet was not seen by a licensed vet tech. The actual vet saw my dog for all of 30 seconds, and was completely unhelpful. They refused to show me the boarding area, which also raised my suspicions. Overall, this place was unfriendly, NOT clean, overpriced and smells like sh*t. I also overheard Carol gossiping about another client's personal life while I waited to be seen. I would never bring my dog back to this place, and you shouldn't either. When I was waiting to pay, the client in front of me was shocked by the bill, and I just thought the client was ignorant. When it was my turn, I too was shocked, and they tried to charge me for services my dog did not receive (tests and treatments).

DO NOT GO HERE.

I would never take my dog or any animal to this vetinary office again. the "office manager," who also serves as a vet tech was very unprofessional. not to mention has no actual schooling or qualified training, except by the dr himself. however, she is still helping with surgeries, administering medications and shots, taking out stitches etc. they charge you ridiculous fees, and overcharge whereever they possibly can. not to mention they charged my credit card twice, and were very rude when i called to address the problem. it is a very unwelcoming feeling when entering the office, not to mention unsanitary. the boarding, is absolutly attrocious where the animals have minimal attention from the staff, and are left in a dingy dirty basement in crates, for hours at a time and not checked on. this was the worst experience i have ever had in a vetinary office and would NEVER reccomend it to anyone. I would prefer to go to an office where they have TRAINED staff who know how to care for your pets.

I will never take another of my animals to this butcher. My cat got hit by a car around 8 in the morning and i immediately took him to HPAH. They said the doctor would see him soon. They put him in a cage. I told them he could be bleeding internally, or something could be broken, they told me don't worry. I went to work. By 3 P.M. the quack doctor still had not even LOOKED at my cat in the cage and i immediately left work. By the time i got there, the "doctor" told me he was bleeding internally and had a broken hip. My cat sat in a cage by himself suffering all day while no one did anything to help him. I told him to Frazer Animal Hospital because I heard you could make payments there and i knew he needed help. I drove him there and my cat was in and out of consciousness the whole time. Frazer Animal Hospital put his hip together and even lowered the price because i couldn't pay it all. I am warning everyone with a pet to stay away from the HPAH. My cat was near death when i finally came to pick him up. He let that cat lie in that cage all day suffering. If i could I would have that place closed. Then he tried to charge me for his services. I now go to Bywood Animal Hospital, Dr. Kapolka, who treats my pets with respect and sees them right away when you bring them in.

I have taken all my animals to this vet for years and have never had any issues. They are very friendly, and the prices are great. I read some of the reviews and it soo sad cause Im sure all the people complaining were the real problems. Some people are very rude and ignorant and its not the office manager ,doctor, or other employees...its the jerk customers. If you cant read the posted signs about the cost of products then you need to get glasses, dont blame the vet taking care of your sick animal. And if you truly love ur animal you'll pay whatever to fix the problems. So stop complaining.

This is a GREAT VET...

I laugh at all these bad reviews about this hospital. I have been going to Highland Park Animal Hospital for over 10 years and the service is wonderful. Everyone that works there has been very pleasant and helpful to me and my pet. I have been in this office when very rude people come in yelling and screaming at the receptionist because they don't want to help their animals. I still go to this hospital and I am very happy.

This was the wost experience with a vets office I could ever imagine. Our 6 year old long-haired cat was not feeling well and vomitting. So we took him to Highland Park Animal Hospital for an exam. The Vet quoted 1 price for lab work and then he administered a host of other unrequested services, including grooming, yearly shots which were due, etc. But the cat was sick with vomitting and diarreha so I am not sure why they would provide the shots at the same time while diagnosing the sickness. Then my cat was sedated for the grooming, all without even a phone call for approval to provide any additional services. In the end they racked up charges close to $400 and threatened to keep my cat until we could pay the bill. They found nothing wrong with the cat from the lab work or the stool sample. And now my cat still has the same symptons. Needless to say, we have switched to Township Line's services and will Never go back to Highland Park - Dr. Andrew Cleland, Carol, and their new ignorant receptionist who knows absolutely nothing have been absolutely horrible. Don't trust your family friend's care to these unfeeling people. All they are concerned about is the $$$.

Cons: They don't return phon calls, administer unapproved services, uncaring

We hope no one ever need to take their dog to this hospital. The office manager is the most rudest we have ever come across. She has the audacity to leave us a rude message on our cell phone when we asked her for some info on some of the grooming services. On top of that she is such a irresponsible and uneducated person who tells us that if we are not their existing customer we should not be calling them. I mean, she is smoking or what. How dare she is.... Her name is Carol.

We are seriously pursuing legal action through our lawyer against the hospital and specifically the office manager. It is sad to see that such businesses crop up where they do not have a concept of customer service. I really wonder what kind of service they must be doing to the dogs

We brought our 14 year old very sick dog in to Highland Animal Hospital. When we called Monday morning we were told to bring him in right away and the vet would fit him in. We arrived at the vet and were told the vet was busy and the dog would have to wait in hospital wing by himself in a cage. The vet would call us when he could see him. 2 hours later and no word from the vet we called him and were told very abruptly that our dog of 14 years had died by himself in a cage. When the vet finally got around to seeing him he was dead. Our dog should have been seen right away and put out of his misery. We also just recently learned that we would need to pay the vet $40.00 on top of disposal fees for the priveledge of allowing our dog to die in his cage. If you are looking for A COMPASIONATE vet this is not the place to go.
