Blue Knob Auto Sales is Great!!!!

by K S.

My Experience with BKA was excellent, I bought an '08 Dodge Avenger just under $11,000 with only 10,000 miles, when i went to the bank for the money, they told me it booked at $20,000, I have had the car almost a year now, and hasn't given me any problems. I also bought this car Black Friday the day after Thanksgiving, had no problems, took it home that night.

Misleading review

by John H.

Mark B
,
Sorry, but that doesn't make any sense. BKA doesn't buy cars from other dealers and then resell them. With the prices they are selling cars for, there's no way they could do that. If this is true, then I want to know this dealership you worked for because they must be selling used cars for $6-7,000 under Kelly Bluebook. I highly doubt it.

No, BKA gets its inventory from rental companies and leased vehicles. Everybody knows this. I've never been to BKA, but I've known many satisfied customers. Just wanted to comment on your implausible scenario.

Horrible!

by Suzy Q.

I bought a 2006 jeep liberty there in march and a few months after that found out that it was burning oil. there is no way to tell if your vehicle is burning oil just by test driving it for 5 minutes. I called BKA to see if they could do anything, and of course they cant. they just kept asking if I got the extended warranty and saying that there's nothing they can do since i decided not to get the warranty. Since the jeep wasnt that old, i never thought there'd be so many problems with it. For example, the driver side back window is broke and wont stay up... Their cars are just junk! BKA sucks in every way possible. i cant say enough bad things about them!

Blue Knob Auto Sales is no different

by mark b.

I am so sick of hearing about Blue Knob Auto Sales being the best place. I am sorry to tell you, you get what you pay for. These cars they sell are what you would find @ any car lot. This would mean that the price you would pay will be the same! If you do some research on the vehicle you want, the deal will turn out in the end(if not better some were else).

Let me explain my point. I worked @ a local new car dealership in Altoona, and every Monday morning Blue Knobs' purchasing manager would be seen walking the used cars on the lot. He would then make a list of cars that Blue knob would be interested in. After speaking to the owner, they would be seen later that afternoon dropping off van loads of kids to pick up the vehicles. This upset me in the fact that all of our quality used cars (1-3yrs old w/ 10/30k) were always gone from our lot.

You, in all reality, would be able to purchase the vehicle from the Dealership for the same price Blue Knob paid. But here is the kicker, the Dealership have a quality service shop! Blue Knob does not. They Sub out there work to the cheapest people possible.

I guess if you are too lazy to do any work on your own, then you would think Blue Knob is great, I just feel I can do better elsewhere.

Blue Knob Auto Sales is misleading

by Very M.

Blue Knob Auto advertises cheap cars and affordable but what they do not tell you is when you trade a car in, they will undersell it so much that the actual price of the car turns out to be almost the same. Not only did I have a hard time trying to get a salesman and their appraiser to call me back, they offered $4000 less on my trade then it was actually worth!! I drove from Harrisburg to see a car, title in hand ready to buy and they would not even negotiate with me! They insulted me by only giving $2000 for my car and wasted my time partly because of their unwillingness to negotiate and also because it just seemed lie the did not want a car sale that day. On my way back to Harrisburg, I stopped at a Nissan Dealer and they gave me $5800 for my car and they sold a car that day....not quite what I was looking for but much better than Blue Knob. Buyers beware...what you think is a good price WILL be made up in the trade value of your car. You know what they say...If its too good to be true, it probably is.

Blue Knob Auto Sales is great

by r G.

CAR FAX? Yes, Blue Knob has a total history backround. FREE to all, even if you do not buy the car.
Every car, that you "click", in the upper right corner has a free history report, by "Auto-Check". A company owned by "Experion". The same information Car Fax has, "Auto Check" has.
because of the web site design, the page will have to be "nugged" or scrolled a bit to the right to see the link.

Blue Knob Auto Sales is okay

by A T.

*** Make sure you order a CARFAX first*** I have bought two cars from Blue Knob and have run into one major problem. Blue Knob does not run a CARFAX for the cars on their lot; however the flip side is that they don't run a CARFAX on your trade either. The odometer on my car had been turned back considerabely (30k+ miles). Make sure you are well informed before you commit...

Blue Knob Auto Sales is the best

by r g.

Greetings,
I am R. Gehret. I have bought 4 cars from Blue Knob. All 4 needed some type of repairs. BUT!!
Blue Knob spent an average $700 per car to make it right. And even fixed a few items I was not and would not of been aware of.
Currently, they are spending about $1000 to re-do my brakes and some sensors. A 2001 Nissan Sentra.
I say that is pretty good service.
I doubt any used car place would immediately step up and go to bat as Blue Knob does for customers.
Yes, I know going in if there is a non-repairable issue, I eat chit selling it back to them. But they also eat chit on the car. It's not like Blue Knob is asking us to something they are not doing.
Prior to buying a car, research it very well.
Bottom line, Blue Knob cannot bottle feed us people. We have a wealth of information right here to research a car prior to buying. We are adults.
Or go to Dean Patterson or Fiore and pay 3-5 thousand more for the same car. OH, and good luck getting the it fixed.

GEORGE ( some 10 post below), Even I had a sales person once who gave me the cold shoulder.
He was with another customer and gave me the "two-minutes", but some 20 minutes went by. The fix was easy, I bought from Pat Fornwalt. recently Pat was not in so I bought from that hottie chick, Theresa Benson, and she was an excellent person to work with. Sorry Pat, but face it, she is cuter than you.
And people, act, and think like accountable adults. If you believe your going to get better prices, and impeccable service, outside of Blue Knob, then go there.
But I assure you, you'll be back.

BBB Lets do the numbers

by David B.

I bought a car there 4 years ago it was like new ChevyTahoe 14k mi now 73kmi .I was and am happy with it .I recommended Blue Knob to many people .I was surprised when one of those people said BKA had a bad BBB rating .He was correct !?!?.If you look at the details of the ratings its 12 complaints with 5 or 6 not resolved to BBB satisfaction ....Lets see BKA sells 600 +cars a month thats over 7000 cars a year with 12 complaints to BBB .BBB keeps a three year book of complaints so it could be 6 unresolved over three years or 21000 cars .PEOPLE thats 2 unresolved issues per 7000.cars ..I respect BBB but I think they need to take into account the shear numbers BKA does before sticking BKA with a bad rating .I will buy my next car at BKA and will still recommend this place with equal vigor until I see maybe That 2% of the people are dissatisfied vs.0006 % .

Blue Knob Auto Sales is...

by Jack H.

I have been in the retail transportation business for more than 20yrs in this town and currently retired and living in the Altoona area. Most of the good people who have given me their hard earned money, have become life long friends and go out of their way to say hello. I have read all the accolades and complaints in this section on BKA. They have been in business long before I started in it, and their reputation then was quite UNUSUAL. I agree with some of the complaints. Buying 'Transportation' is an emotional experience, fueled by need or want and few people have the mental capacities needed to make a rational decision when doing so. Should you be concerned with buying a car from a retailer who has a body shop that works a car over before it is shown? Quote:Salvaged, usually meaning it sustained damage that exceeded 75 percent of its value. When a car has that much damage, only the best restoration can get it back in good working order, and even that doesn't guarantee the car is totally safe. Don't expect a salvage-titled vehicle to have a big red "salvage" stamped on it to warn you. Each state has different ways of classifying "title brands." Some in use are: reconstructed, rebuilt, restored, reconditioned, junk, unsafe, repaired and non-repairable.
"It's not realistic to think that a salvage vehicle is going to be put back together properly." "Money is what talks. Lots of repairers will just slap the car together as quickly and as cheaply as possible."
[=This Expert also explains that a repairer of salvage vehicles often has lots of incentive to get the car off the lift and into the marketplace because many owners of SALVAGE-VEHICLE REPAIR SHOPS ALSO OWN AUTO DEALERSHIPS. Part of the sale goes to purchasing more salvage=] (end quote). Have you seen BKA's repair shop? I don't believe they do insurance work!
===(http://www.insure.com/car-insurance/salvaged-cars.html)===
Get a Carfax if you can. There is enough free info on the net to get a good idea of the likes/dislikes of that vehicle providing it was not involved in a major collision. If it is new enough, there should be factory warranty remaining. If not, the factory removed it because it was probably totaled for some reason. Someone I know purchased an Import SUV from BKA, received only one key and no owners manual. This person went to have a duplicate key made and found the key was $400 + another $150-200 for programming. The owners manual is not cheap and this person can expect to be closer to $1000 than $500 when all is replaced. Do I think that a lot of these responses are planted by the dlrshp in question? Read them all and come to your own conclusion! HELLO?
GOOD LUCK, you will probably need it if you got to this point in your purchase decision....
Don't ever believe their sales #'s
Lastly, why is it they have had so many Georgia titled vehicles to offer thru the last few years?
((A WORK IN PROGRESS))
MARK b (you are correct on the wholesale purchases)

Highly Suggest You Buy Here

by Calvin Z.

I can't tell you how many people I know that have bought their cars @ Blue Knob Auto Sales. Very satisfied to say the least. I have purchased multiple vehicles for myself and family and have nothing but good things to say about this dealership. As far as some of the other reviews on this site, I think there may be a need for some heads to be examined. The world is not a perfect place people.

Good Dealer

by Eddie G.

Johnny T. great stories, you ever think about making a script for Hollywood. I hope that you have the proof to back up all those accusations. ie: Court records, links to reports of shootings, or other incredible actions taken. If you want a good deal good car go here, or if you want to play funny games on the computer to try and ruin a company be like "Johnny T.", obviously he must really spend a lot of time and energy making up great fictional practices.

Great Experience !

by Steve M.

I purchased a Toyota Tacoma from Blue Knob Auto. It was very simple, the price was on the windshield . It was a much better price than the other dealers I had shopped. I test drove it, everything seemed fine. The truck was state inspected , the oil and filter was changed and it had a new emissions sticker. My salesman suggested I get something to eat while I waited for my bank approval . He called in about 30 minutes with an excellent rate. When I arrived to do my paperwork the truck was ready to go and it took about 45 minutes to complete my papers. It was very refreshing not to deal with the so called manager in the back room and spend 3 days arguing price. The customers I talked to while I was there seemed happy. One guy said he buying his fourth car from them. I would buy from Blue Knob again and would recommend them to other people.

STAY AWAY- WORSE DEALER IN AMERICA!

by Johnny T.

Don't just take my word for it. Their BBB rating is poor. They have the third most lawsuits in the state (check court records) yet do one-tenth the business of typical dealerships. The salesmen have guns in their desks because of the number of irate customers that have come back to their lot. The majority of their vehicles are SALVAGE vehicles that have been processed through Georgia, the only US state where car titles do not have "Salvage" stamped on the front. They have sold three unsafe vehicles just this year that are implicated in the deaths of two familiies, one in PA and one in Ohio. Thier main repossession agent shot a 13 year old boy in the back last year in Pittsburgh. Unbeliveable that they can stay in business and the media hasn't profiled them (they must have good lawyers though). Me? I bought a car there, it was fine. But the truth is real, and you all should know these things.

Mixed Feelings

by Jackie M.

I bought my 2005 grand prix there for a reasonable price. The sales person said that they had just gotten It on the lot and that I would need to bring it back for a free inspection. Not a problem, I thought. So I took my car to get inspection, and after 20 mins. or so, the mechanic came over to me and told me there were a few problems and that i would need to leave it for the rest of the day. They said they would hook me up with a rental, which was fine - except that they do not rent to people that aren't 21. So, I had to call someone for a ride to work(Not a big deal.) I called the mechanic at the end of my shift and he said that there were so many problems with my car, they were going to junk it! He mentioned something about suspension problems and that it looked like something had gotten ran over. Shouldn't they have looked at this before they sold it?? Anyway- the positive side of the story is that they did not give me any problems, let me pick out a new car and start all over again with the finances.

We got what we wanted.

by Frank G.

Blue Knob Auto is not the place to go if you want your rear end kissed the entire time you are there. They move vehicles. We had 15 grand to spend (out the door) and we searched the net to find one within 100 miles of our home and with low miles. We found two there with under 10,000 miles and took one home. We would have had to struggle and fight to get our price anywhere else. We also went there knowing that if we found problems with the car after the fact, we would need to either depend on the factory warranty to get it repaired or fix it ourselves. So there's a trade off here, no haggle, lower price or a price struggle with higher expectations during and after the purchase. We live 90 miles away, so we had no plans of returning to the dealer. We drove the cars and looked them over them as best we could under the light in the parking lot. We chose the one that appeared to be the better of the two. They say they take trade-ins, but like most volume dealers, likely don't offer much on trades. We elected not to trade prior to going there. So these people, who bought vehicles there with 50,000+ miles, no warranty, with the check-engine light on or with odd noises coming from under the hood: dont you have to be kind of dumb to make that purchase under those conditions? They tell you up front that everyone pays the same price. So I ask again, how much intelligence (or lack of) does it take to show up there and expect to wheel and deal?

Worth the drive

by Alan M.

I purchased a Toyota 4Runner and this was the singly best car buying experience of my 44 years! I don't need an uninformed salesman hounding me, asking em how much payment I can afford each month. Grow up, enter the digital age, research on car specs, be an informed consumer and go save some $$ @ the KNOB! Sure you may have to wait once you're there, but the APR was 1/4 pt better than anywhere else if you have good credit.

Mixed feelings

by george b.

I went to BKA today looking to buy a car because everyone told me how great they were. While it's true that their prices are very good and I'm sure that typically it's a pleasant experience to car shop there, I felt like the salesman could have cared less about me. I test drove a couple vehicles and my wife and I particularly liked a certain one. The problem was, the check engine light was on, the radio did not work, and there were dings all over the roof and hood as if it were in a hail storm. Even knowing this I might have still bought it because I know that check engine lights could be anything, i can install a better radio than it had in it, and the dings didn't take away from the performance. But, when I brought up the issues, I was quickly assured there were no problems at all. The salesman just kinda brushed it off and said, "you'd be surprised how many cars in the lot have the check engine lights on." That didn't comfort me at all. In fact, it kind of made me upset that they thought my concerns could be brushed away so easily. He just thought I was dumb enough to just buy it right there without further inspection and started working up the paperwork. I thought, this guys crazy. Then I had a trade in that they wouldn't even give me blue book value on and would have me adding 500 buck too the new car. The problem with buying a vehicle that is so far under the blue book is that they won't pay you blue book for your trade in. So where are the savings? I don't know, you tell me. I just know I'm not driving an hour to be slighted anymore. If that guy would have paid me blue book on my trade in and took my concerns seriously I would have bought that car today. But I seriously just think they don't care. They get plenty of business and don't need to sell me a car.

MULTIPLE GREAT EXPERIENCES

by nicole f.

I am originally from near Altoona, and when I turned 16 I bought a car with 11000 miles on it from Blue Knob. I had it until I was 22, and put 142000 miles on it (back and forth from college puts on a lot of miles). The only major thing besides tires that I needed to replace from purchase to trading it in was the alternator. I traded it in to Blue Knob, where they gave me a reasonable amount for it, and I bought my new car from there also. I have had it almost two years now and have yet to have any problem (knock on wood). There is no haggling at blue knob, because, with the amount of mileage their cars have on them, YOU WILL NOT FIND A LOWER PRICE. Being from the Altoona area, I know TONS of people with cars from there and DO NOT know ONE that has had a problem with their car that they havent caused themselves. The people who are posting negative things on here may have had the EXTREMELY RARE bad experience, however in my experience and from everyone else I know this is a GREAT place to buy a car from. Remember that people tend to remember the negative experiences rather than the good ones, so for every negative review on here there are probably a 1000 great ones (who are probably friends of the people who wrote negatively and recommended Blue Knob) from people who didnt thing to write. Blue Knob is located 2 hours away from Pittsburgh, and yet you see a lot of cars from there around even with the tons of dealerships much closer to Pittsburgh (especially since Blue Knob does not advertise, they only get business through word of mouth- part of the reason they can keep their overhead so low and can sell cars so cheaply). Obviously there is a reason for the amount of cars they sell, especially since people need to travel to get there. Trust me, its worth the drive. And if your going there, stop @ a tiny dive restaurant called Lena's Cafe- best Italian ever!

THUMBS UP EXPERIENCE!

by Dave D.

Very easy purchase from them. If you do you homework you will find they have excellent prices. Everyone was courteous and friendly, very professional demeanor as well. I have only good things to say about them, for sure. We dealt with Gene from initial phone call to closing the deal. Very nice guy, very professional, no bullcrap- just the way we like it. We drove from Butler PA to get the deal done. Gene was especially helpful over the phone, about 8 calls before we even left just reviewing all paperwork and numbers with us over the telephone- talk about service!! Thanks Gene and BKA!

great experience

Bought a car there a while ago -it was the best car buying experience in 30 years - my salesman even gave me a free car facts report on the car before i bought. Do your homework and you'll see that the prices and selection can't be beat. Sure, there will be a few that get a lemon and those are the ones that complain the loudest, but this place is truly the best. I'm going back soon for another car, and we live over 200 miles away.Yes, it's worth the drive.

Stay Away!!

by J R.

I purchased a Cavalier from BKA in '06. I left the lot and drove to Centre Hall and I put down the window while the car was running and it was ticking very loudly and the longer the car sat running the louder it got. I called them and they said to bring it up the following business day. Something was cracked in the engine and they said that it would need rebuilt and since I was still within my 1000 mile warranty they would fix it. I left their garage and went home to get a ride back to drop the car off(there is apparently some unwritten rule that a 21 year old female is not allowed to drive any of their cars on the lot while her's is in service so they told me, although it was perfectly ok for me to test drive the piece of crap.) Anywho I went home and a friend who is a mechanic happen to be there and so he took a look and found that "someone" had put sawdust somewhere in the engine to dampen the sound from the cracked piece and since on the test drive it was only driven about 5 miles the tapping could not be heard but after a 50 minute drive the sawdust was no longer doing its "job". Soooo after waiting for 6 days I got the car back. Everything was fine until December(bought the car in July) when it started tapping again. So my supposedly rebuild engine is broken again? Of course this was way past the 1000 mile warranty so BKA would not even talk to me. After fighting for about 2 months I gave up. So here I am today almost 3 years later paying $200 a month for my tap dancing car. There are so many other random things that are wrong with it(turn the defrost on and the car shuts off...real nice huh?) that I am convinced that their cars are JUNK and its not worth saving the extra couple thousand because I can guarantee you that you will be spending that "saved" money within the first year on repairs. Wanna hear another BKA horror story?? Ask my mom about the tailgate(yes the entire back door) falling off her SUV a month after buying it. No Lie. Someone should let BKA know that if they are going to sell wrecked cars to check the glove compartment because we found the info of the former owner who had it repossessed in New Jersey and it WAS rear ended months before my parents bought it. These people are SCUM. So if you are still interested in buying a car give Mr Swope a call and ask him if you can own your very own piece of wrecked/repossessed/flooded sh1t. 5 years of easy monthly payments and thousands of dollars in repairs. STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE!!

Blue Knob - don't have doubts

by sharon W.

For those of you hesitating to buy from Blue Knob, I would like to tell you my story. I was looking at Blue Knob Auto & saw some reviews that concerned me, so having doubts, and not finding a vehicle that appealed to me at the time, I saw a Cadillac CTS @ Fiore that was exactly what I wanted. Having doubts about Blue Knob, I thought that a reputable dealer like Fiore was a better bet. What a mistake! I saw the engine light on & was told that it was an oxygen ??, and it was on order. When I picked the car up, the engine light was out and I was told it had been fixed. I drove it for one day and the light came back on. I took it to Fiore for repair 3 days after I signed the dotted line & it has been there since - 21 days. I now owe a car payment for a car I haven't been able to drive or enjoy. GM is paying for a rental, but it just isn't the same. When I called Fiore and complained to the sales manager, I was told they never would have sold the car if they had known the problems. I asked "Don't you inspect your used cars?" Yes, I was told. I don't think they check them very thoroughly. Bottom Line - consider my story when hesitating a purchase through Blue Knob --I thought I would go to a reputable dealer & look what happened to me. In my case, Blue Knob was probably the more reputable dealer. Just for human interest, I will keep everyone posted on my dealings with Fiore. I don't foresee any good comments because it was thought my car MIGHT be ready 12/23 -- still waiting for the call. I feel I have been poorly mistreated by Fiore.

Very Impressive

by Stacey K.

Loved this place, they gave us the freedom to walk around, and see what we were interested in. We ended up leaving with a Malibu, and glad that we were able to see all the comparible vehicles. Price, and selection were unbeatable. We dealt with Brad, and he made us feel very comfortable with our purchase, not making us feel like we were getting ripped off. Hope to see Blue Knob for our next purchase.

see for yourself

by greg b.

Go visit the lot yourself. People who complain on these sites usually are NEVER happy with a service or product. I doubt that BKA's prices are ever matched or beaten by a dealer. I recently visited the lot and had no problem finding the visitor parking. I personally prefer not having a salesman following me through the lot. Do your homework on the car you are interested in. Most of the cars have low mileage and will be covered under the mfg warranty. It is my understanding that the vehicles are fleet cars that BKA buys and marks up slightly to make a profit. I live in PGH and have noticed many more cars with the Blue Knob Auto license plate holder on them.

after reading these reviews, i will never go there. we were going to go check the place out but after seeing they have a bad reputation, and a poor listing with the better business bureau, we won't waste our time... you get what you pay for...all those shiny cars look so good on the website...i guess the saying holds true...you can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig underneath it all!

First Great Time Buying a Vehicle

by Stephen L.

I had probably one of the best buying experiences no headache no hassle. I like that the prices are on the windows and can look at the vehicles without anyone bearing down on you. We dealt with Brad, and he was very helpful finding us the best pick-up for our needs. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Best Buy

by Marjorie C.

I drove from Annville to Duncansville and it was completely worth it. I purchased a Toyota Highlander. The best car, the best deal, the best service. It took some time to wait for the deal to finalize with the place so busy and comparison credit runs for the best financing. It was worth every second. Ask for Greg Raleigh, he is the best.

Go Blue Knob!

by Linda S.

Wow, what a wonderful, refreshing experience! Local dealers were playing games. We heard about Blue Knob Auto from at least 4 different individuals who all shared the same, positive experience -- yet we had reservations. How stupid to wait! We wasted 3 weeks. Blue Knob was no hassle, well organized, quick/convenient, friendly service. We even got great financing rate. Our toughest decision was which vehicle to buy--many great choices & prices!

Buyer Beware!

by Anonymous

My husband and I travelled 4 hours to look at a vehicle advertised. After calling BKA several times and speaking to several different salesman as to whether the vehicle was still on the lot and available for purchase we had gotten several different responses. Some didn't know and wouldn't even look, others said no it was sold and then another one said yes we do have it and will hold for 2 days. We asked about the condition and type of title the vehicle had since it was at such at great price. They assured us that it was great. We got there and the vehicle was out front waiting for us. After inspecting it, we noticed it was wrecked. The radiator was damaged and the plastic housing around it was all cracked. We pointed it out to the salesman and kept stating "oh I'm surprised our service department didn't catch that". He turns to my husband and takes the keys out of his hand and said "well I guess that's not the vehicle for you... sorry about your drive." Then he turns to leave us. We asked him about getting it fixed and he said no he would rather sell it back to the auction that they purchased it from. We were definitley disappointed, but happy we saw the damage first. NOW, here is why we are upset.... the very next day they put it back in their line and is back for sale for someone else to have problems with it!!! Very disappointed that this dealership would put a wrecked vehicle on their lot that needs a new radiator and some other work done and they know about it! When you ask them, they buy only the best vehicles from auctions because that's what gives them their great reputation. Yeah right.... everyone check out what you are buying first!!

Thumbs down

by Anonymous

I must say that Blue Knob Auto has a lot to pick from but its unorganized and it seems very unusual on how many cars they get in. I've done car reports on a lot of cars I was interested in and all of cars I received reports didn't show detailed information I was looking for. I only saw how many owners it had and that veered me away from their cars. Now to experience the full "service" of Blue Knob I had to go there myself to find out. These were my results.

1. The location is horrible! It's impossible to get a "visitor" parking spot. Park down the highway and walk to it.

2. It's unorganized and your bluntly thrown around because of it.

3. Took forever for an employee to talk to me. Once I talked to someone about a car...they didn't know much about it.

4. Prices are low but I've seen other local competitors at the same price if not better.

Blue Knob Auto didn't impress me and I won't go back to try again. Remember a business or an individual must impress you the first time to receive positive feedback and business. Thumbs down.

Quality Vehicles With Good Prices, Very Busy, Liked the No hassle

by Anonymous

We shopped for a car for 4 months and found this dealership via autotrader. We visited eight major car dealers in our area and prices were $3,000 to $8,000+ less at BK. Our local dealers would not match pricing from BK. I found the make/model that I wanted and called BK with questions 3 times. The phone was answered politely & professionally each time. I am 200 miles from their location and wanted to know if the car was available. It was & they would be happy to mark the car as sold and hold it. I even received a call the morning I was leaving to verify if we would be coming in & was politely reminded of paperwork to bring if I would like to purchase the car. We were greeted by the receptionist and told her the car and she even said..you are the people from... and one of the sales people brought the car out for us to drive & inspect (the car had the sold sign on it). The dealership is very busy and we found that they sell in high volume 800+ cars per month but I heard no complaints about waiting. Talked to people from Philly, Connecticut, New Jersey about the great deals and one family was purchasing their 3rd car from that dealer. I did carfax (with BK's suggestion) and found most of their cars were rentals and so were the ones from our local major auto dealers. I took printouts of the cars I wanted to see. Yes, they are very busy trying to help everyone but if you do your homework and know which cars you want it makes the experience faster and smoother. The car was prepped (washed, waxed, gas put in it) while doing the paperwork. We were there 4 hours. I saved $8,000 on my car and LOVE it. My husband will not shop anywhere else. It was nice not to have sales people pressure you & all cars had price, mileage, options on window. No haggling/negotiations on price, straight forward deals the way it should be. Well worth a few hours for a car that you will spend years with!!

Run....

by Greg D.

I am not here to make Blue Knob Auto look horrible...ok I really am, but that's because they have real issues with their management, vechiles and social ethics. I've bought from them before and never again will I. I had tons of problems with my car and was never happy the first days I got it. They wanted to offer me less then what I paid and I only ran it for a few days. I had a lot of odor and electronic problems with it, but they only offered me to take it into repair and after tons of repairs it has never been fixed properly. So from now on I'll just buy brand new like everyone told me to do in first place.

No different than anyone else

by John A.

To all of you people who are busting on Blue Knob for having an unsatisfactory BBB rating, did any of you bother to look up other dealerships in the area? Dean Patterson has an unsatisfactory ratings as well. A few years ago a drunk driver hit me from behind and damaged my trunk, rear bumper, and left rear panel on my Pontiac Sunfire. I took it to Fiore Pontiac to get it fixed, and they tried to give it back to me with a buckle in the roof, a bent steering wheel, and red paint showing in places because the replacement parts came from a junked red Sunfire. My next car was a Chevy Cavalier purchased at Blue Knob Auto. I had two issues with it...one involving the fuel guage that happened before the Manufacturer's Warranty expired and another involving the automatic window that happened after the initial warranty expired. They sent me to a dealer to get the fuel guage fixed, and there were no problems. They fixed the window the SAME day that I called them, and again there were no problems. The bottom line is that if you buy a used vehicle, you're probably going to have some problems with it...and Blue Knob does just as well as any dealer if not better!

Simply the best place to buy a used car or truck!

by Jason M.

I have read some bad reviews about Blue Knob Auto on this site and I have to say I don't agree with one of them! My family and I (wife, son, sister, brothers and nephew) have all purchased numerous cars and trucks 11 to be exact from Blue Knob Auto and have found the experience to be nothing more than AWSOME. The staff has always been courteous and understanding to my needs. For example my son recently purchased a car and 2 weeks later there was a problem to be found with the turbo system when my son contacted Jim (the one everyone seems to have a problem with) and he said quote " Not a problem we will be happy to take care of that for you" within a week the car was fixed good as new. The thing I think people forget is that they are buying a used car and with used cars there may be problems that Blue Knob Auto doesn't know about. Its not their fault remember they are selling a lot of cars at super low prices so occasionally a car with a problem will arise. It happens so get over it or go spend THOUSANDS more for a new one that may have a problem also. I will continue to do business and recommend everyone I know to do business with Blue Knob Auto Sales.

Better then New Car Buying

by Anonymous

I purchased a Dodge Caravan with them and saved alot of money. Most dealers in our area were thousands over the price we paid on an older vehicle with more miles. I am very pleased with our experience, and will refer anyone to go and see the great selection that they have.

Vehicle Issue but still good service

by Erik S.

I purchased a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix and had transmission issues after about 3 months. I do understand that vehicles break and things happen but still after only three months of owning i still was upset. I talked to Jim the manager and he did take the time to listen to the problem I had and directed me to the service center. Joe and Steve were very helpful in diagnosing the problem, which was the transmission and repaired the vehicle within a quick time. I am pleased that I was offered the extended warranty that they offered because, it did save me a TON of money, even though I do not usually buy them. Keep up the good work!

Saved $100 A month

by Lisa W.

Love the store atmosphere, and the prices. I just bought an Explorer from them and love the equipment in it. I went to two other dealers in the area, and they couldn't touch the price, even after they went to their "Managers". I saved almost $100 a month going with and Explorer here then a comprably equiped used Explorer elsewhere. The sales staff wasn't pushy, and took the time to answer all the different questions, about the different models. I hope they stay around for a long time because I will not go anywhere else.

2 Cars & 2 SUV's

by J C.

After just making our 4th purchase @ Blue Knob and reading some reviews - I consider most of the bad reviews are from other dealers / sales reps.

I, nor anyone I know, has ever had an issue with Blue Knob - although I have had a dealer refuse to honor a warrenty (Dean Patterson) because I purchased at Blue Knob - This was quickly resolved with a call to the mfg.

Maybe if dealers wouldn't try to "rape" and "harrass" customers they could compete with Blue Knob.

The process is refreshing Blue knob sales wholesale / trades wholesale - no bickering

Highly Recommend

New Saab and very happy

Don't even look....your wasting your time and intelligence

by Bob S.

Come on, this place is a joke and you can tell by walking in the door.

"Hey Bob, this one is yours."

Making you feel like a money sign rather then a real human.

Call the "manager" Jim out and your know what I am talking about. He's one ridiculous individual in society and needs to taught how to treat customers with respect. He will brush you off like the dandruff that sits on his shoulders and spit in your face if he had a chance. I know it can be hard to run a business...well I am not to sure because does he really run the business when he pushes customers away? I would say NO. Come on, grow up and get work and social ethics!

Also, for the people that agree with me...please continue to spread the negative aspects you have experienced to others. Make it known to others that they need to close up business for good or quickly fire their employees.

Only an idiot

by Anonymous

would go against an unsatisfactory rating by the BBB, much less an idiotic business would refuse to work with them once a complaint is lodged. Then again, you get what you pay for. A fool and his money are soon parted. Sure you may save a few bucks but at what risk? I will stick to a company that actually tries to please its customers rather than sell the highest volume it can regardless of how it accomplishes that. The BBB's unsatisfactory rating says more than any verbal attack does. Why else would one resort to name calling? Because you have lost the argument.

Kyle A.

Obviously B.K.A doesn't need the B.B.B's approval. in order to run a successful business, much like any other competent business in the country.

I can't believe people actually think they should blame a used car company for ones own lapse of judgment, or a lack of research, and or knowledge on their behalf.

Business should stand by their word/product

by Steve R.

While BK may not be a dealer but a car store, they should still stand by their advertised word (which they haven't) as well as the product they sell be it used or certified used. Certified used to most other businesses means they guarantee it against problems, period! A reputable business would attempt to resolve complaints through the BBB, which BK hasn't and won't. Buying a one year old car with <20K miles on it should not mean AS IS! Nor does it, according to the law. It is just as likely that a positive review came from a salesman/owner (especially if they know monthly sales volume) as a negative review came from a competing business. However, the BBB doesn't lie, they investigate, try to resolve, then make a decision.

BBB is verified

by Steve W.

The better business bureau is verified. They list an unsatisfactory rating for Blue knob. BK also went so far as to tell the BBB "Company indicated it will not resolve consumer issues through the BBB process" Check it out for yourself:

Buying Experience

by Kyle D.

Firstly, this site is an unverified unmoderated source of information. For all anyone knows these are local used car dealers posting fabrications against Blue Knob Auto. I personally have purchased my last two used vehicles from B.K.A.

Lets get one thing straight. This is a car store. Not a car dealership. They do not deal. They simply sell 700 cars a month. Secondly, this is a used car store. The cars are not new and will on occasion have problems. That is the risk you assume when you look to save money from buying new or buying a certified used vehicle.

Finally, where is there a law written on how a business does business? It is a privately owned company and they can do business how they see fit. Having your rear end kissed is not US constitution last time I checked. Seeing how they have been in business almost 10 years and nearly double their sales every year says something.

The last two cars I purchased there have proven to be very reliable, and I couldn't be happier. No, I didn't walk out of there with a B.K.A t-shirt and a fuzzy feeling in my tummy because my sales rep was cheery. I got a good car at a fair price. End of story.
