Hair Nail & Skin Care by Lords & Ladies

I have to say that I'm shocked that 2 out of 3 of the previous reviews were not all positive. I have been having my hair done at Lords and Ladies for the past 20 years, and have never been anything but totally satisfied with my experience. From the time I walk in, there are smiling faces greeting me to the time I leave I feel completely refreshed and satisfied. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, I am always kept up to date on all of the classes that they attend to make sure that I am getting the latest styles. In the last several years I have transitioned from the workforce to a stay at home mom and now I am back to work and never once was I at loss for conversation with my stylist. As a matter of fact I have seen several stylists there and have always felt comfortable with the conversation and felt that I was treated with respect. I had left the berks county area for a short time and out of convenience had my hair done else where and after seeing how much other salons cost to have my hair done, I have to say I felt as though I was taking advantage of my stylist as far as the prices were concerned. For the quality of service that you receive and the price you pay it is definitely a reasonable place to have your hair done. I cannot think of anywhere else I would recommend anyone to go.

I LOVE my hairdresser at L&L and she's the only reason I continue to return and pay ridiculously high prices for her excellent services. The girls at the front desk are rude and snotty and don't even greet folks as they enter the shop. There is too much chatting and personal business being done at the front desk and it is very unprofessional both in appearance and service level. They certainly don't seem to care one way or the other if the customer is satisfied or if they rebook their next appointment, as if the customers were interrupting something much more important going on up there. Last time I checked, receptionists were there to RECEIVE the customer, RECEIVE the phone calls and RECEIVE payments and to make every customer feel important and special in between. What the customer gets is a zoned Barbie doll with too much makeup on, a 3rd grade maturity level with ZERO customer service skills. The best dressers are leaving L&L at all locations because of the way they are compensated and managed and it's a damned shame. I love the new renovation of the D-Ville salon and it's very convenient but I would follow my dresser 25 miles out of town because she is talented and totally focused on Customer Service. By the way - the manicures suck there too - the polish always bubbles because they rush the layers. And the coffee is much better at the little cafe across the lot... they should get them to deliver coffee and the little goodies to the ladies getting styled... good business move. I'd like to ask the owner why he doesn't do customer service surveys... maybe he knows there are issues and is making too much damned money to care!

I read the other reviews and was surprised. I thought that the prices were reasonable and the service was upstanding. I am a mom and in my 30s and thought that the conversation was just perfect. When I come to the spa I am not there to talk about the kids!!! (for once, but I do anyway because they ask) What a beautiful place with really super super nice girls. Recommend cut and color and pedicure and definitely a facial!! I will be coming here for a very long time.

I have been going here for three years. I like the atmosphere but it is getting a bit on teh young side now with chatty girls that like to talk about things not too relevant for older folks like some of us moms. You pay a little more but they offer coffee/tea/water and have every service you could need.

PROS: They always seem to make room for an appointment
CONS: The staff is too young
