I'm also wondering where they went. not very kept up to date on new stuff and parts but they were very friendly. Very honest owner I believe. used to order RC heli parts from there.

Anyone know what happened to the other NIttany Line Hobby store over by TJ Maxx? We love that store and it seems to have vanished...Last winter it moved from next to Wegmans to next to TJ MAxx.

The one downtown I too have shopped at, also because it is the only place in town that sells RPG stuff. Gordon would be the name of "the man" I am guessing all these people complain about (tall bearded with glasses) and I add my two cents to it all. The condescending answers he hands out all do tend to be long winded and devoid of any real information. At 8 months pregnant I had to stand outside the doors for 20 minutes because the "at lunch" sign was up. This might have been unnoticed if it hadn't happened the prior week as well at a totally different time. Not to mention that it being the middle of winter meant that temperatures were below freezing. So it is true that the store will say OPEN but in fact be closed. I now prefer to pay shipping fees instead of wasting meter money while I wait outside or am forced to listen to him pontificate about his own merits.

The 2nd store by the same name is a wonderful place to shop and the people there amazingly friendly. Just a shame they don't also sell RPG goods.

NOTE: This review is about the store located on South Fraser St. that sells RPG materials and other board/trading card games. It is not about the very nice store by the same name that sells models, educational toys, radio-controlled cars, etc. That place received 5 stars from me.

Nittany Lines Hobbies on S. Fraser St. is the only place in State College where you can buy any D&D or other RPG materials (miniatures, paints, accessory books), which is fortunate for them since I doubt I would ever shop there were this not the case. As has been mentioned before, the store is run by the rudest, loudest, most unhelpful man I have ever met. I would wager to say that he is border-line autistic with the way he shouts his answers at his customers all the while acting like you are doing him a disservice by shopping there. If you ask a simple question he will be unable to keep his answer under at least 3 minutes, even if it was simple ??yes or no? question.

If this wasn't bad enough, the place is often times not open during its usual posted business hours. Many times I've tried to stop by on my lunch break only to see that it has not yet been opened for the day. It is supposed to open at noon but I've come by at 12:45 and even once at 1:00 only to see that the store is dark and he has not yet decided to grace anyone with his presence.

Even when he does open the place, you will often be greeted by a sign on the front door that says he has stepped out and will return in times ranging from 15 - 45 minutes! This will happen multiple times in the same day, as I once tried visiting the place twice only to see the same sign hanging on the door, but with different return times indicating that he had come back to the store changed the sign and then left again. He claims to have played every game in the store, maybe that??s what he is doing all day?

I cannot fathom how this guy gets return business as it's cheaper and easier just to buy your stuff online and wait for it to be delivered than to have to deal with this guy.

The store has a decent selection of RPG materials and modeling supplies, but the male employee we encountered there was extremely rude, rather prejudiced, and quite possibly intoxicated. He was loud, obnoxious, and made some very inappropriate comments to a friend of mine. The store had the items that we were looking for, but we just couldn't bring ourselves to buy them there after our treatment at the hands of said employee. A bad experience, and my friends and I will do our shopping elsewhere.

I have been going to Nittany Line Hobbies for several years for all my hobby needs. I purchased a radio control car severl years ago and recently had to find someplace to repair it. They were very fast about fixing my radio controled car. They only charged me a small fee for fixing something I thought would cost big bucks. They have a large selection of hobbies and toys for all ages. They also have an excellent RC Car selection and do all repairs onsite. The staff is always friendly and helpful.

Nittany Line Hobbies is a great place to find lots of gifts for any collector. The store is neat and clean. They have a staff that is willing to help you find anything you may need. A good idea for the holidays.

PROS: location, variety
CONS: parking
