Ebensburg Animal Hospital is worth looking into
I have had good experiences, and I have had bad experiences. It really depends on who is taking care of my pet that day. I will say Dr. Tackis is wonderful, and if you can get him, you are good to go. I have heard that the waiting room is to small, but I have a few different vet for different reasons, and they are smaller than that. I think they are the most reasonibly priced vets, I have ever found, but very hard to get a hold of, and to get an appointment in is a long wait. But all in all I think it is a good office.

Ebensburg Animal Hospital is the best!
by kim p.
We would definitely recommend Ebensburg Animal Hospital!! We recently had a Shih Tzu named Holly that went into kidney failure and had to be put to sleep. Dr Takacs and staff were her vets for almost 13 years. She had many health problems since birth, but she was the best dog you could ever wish for. We truly believe if it wasn't for their fantastic care she wouldn't have made it 13 days, but instead she blessed our lives for 13 years. We now have a new Shih Tzu puppy and on the way home from picking her up, I called to make her first checkup with them!!! We wouldn't trust her care to anyone else.

Ebensburg Animal Hospital is wonderful
by jessica s.
I took my two kittens to get spayed/neutered. I paid 157 which included a male/female operation and vaccines. Which is an amazing deal concidering we were going to pay over 300 dollars elsewhere! Very kind vet-exhausted though. They are so crowded all the time. I'm sure you noticed thier phone line is always busy. Most importaint my kittens were home and healthy. only two negatives. Never take an emergency there and if you have the option make your pet wear a flea collar. It is very clean although im sure with as many animals as they have its hard to prevent all thoes fleas! Our kittens returned home with them.

Great Vets and service.
by Joyce G.
I think that the Ebensburg Animal Hospital is GREAT! We live in Houtzdale; and we have taken our two English Springer Spaniels to State College and also to Clearfield. I was so very impressed with Ebensburg. The care and compassion that Dr.Hamady has for the animals. Our oldest Springer had to have his right left toe taken off because our vet from Clearfield could not find out why his pad on his paw was an open wound for the past four years. He had had an accident when he was a year old; but came through that fine. Well, Dr. Hamady did an xray and found out that BC's bone in his paw was deteriorating. The next week he had surgery. One visit and they knew exactly what was wrong. Now that is what I call a great VET!

The VETS at Ebensburg Animal Hospital are the best!
by Heather E.
I think the Vets here are wonderful, and one of the girls, Mary Beth is wonderful. As for the rest of the girls that work there -they don't seem to have much of a personality.I work with rescue dogs, and I'm constantly at this office. Every couple of weeks when I walk in, she looks right at me with a blank look on her face and asks my name. It drives me crazy! I worked for a Dentist for 15 years, and could always remember patients. The other girls don't talk at all to the pets or their owners, and yes the phones are always busy. However the Dr.'s themselves(and Mary Beth) are very knowledgeable, and caring.I think with any office, you, as pet owner, are responsible for learning as much as you can about your pet and it's illness, double checking medications, and following instructions. Ask questions if you have them, and speak up if you think they are wrong about something.

Ebensburg Animal Hospital is the BEST!!!!
by Twila K.
My 8 year old poodle became sick on a Saturday, stopped eating and drinking, became listless, could hardly walk. My vet is not open on week ends and the only animal hospital near me that takes emergency's would not take her because she was not a patient of theirs!!! It is the same as if you get sick and have never been seen at Indiana Hospital, they won't see you because you have never been a patient at the hospital before!!!! I called Ebensburg Animal Hospital Sunday at 7AM and talked directly to the vet. He told me to bring her in at 9:30. He did blood work gave her an injection, medicine to take at home. By the time we got back to Indiana, she was back to her old self!!!I was impressed with the service and was really surprised at the cost..so inexpensive especially for an emergency visit! They have my business from now on. As a matter of fact, I called them this morning because of her ear infection and I have an appointment tomorrow. The vet that seen her on that Sunday was very compassionate to her pain. It's a little further to drive, but well worth the trip from Indiana. Twila K

Ebensburg Animal Hospital is great.
by Barbara H.
We have taken both of our boxers to this facility and I have very pleased with the people and service. Dr. Takics (& the other doctors) are very caring. Dr. Takics will actually get on the floor and make the animals feel very comfortable while there. There are times when the phone lines are busy but just keep trying - they have a huge number of animals to be seen. The girls at the desk and his assistants are very caring also. I travel close to an hour for our appointments and it is worth the trip.

Ebensburg Animal Hospital is wonderful
by Lisa W.
I have been taking my pets to the Ebensburg Animal Hospital for 6 years now. Although the building is small and the parking can be frustrating, the service is among the best in the area. Dr. Takacs will lay right down on the floor next to my big dogs when examining them to comfort them. And the ladies at the desk could not be more caring. They are very good with my man (who is my cat and the man of the house) as well. Overall, I have had only good experiences with the animal hospital.

Don't go there
by shannon l.
Simply awful. Cramped, crowed, uncaring. Weeks to see a sick pet. Assembly line medicine. Try to get you in with low prices, but you get what you pay for.

Questionable caring/compassion
by Jill E.
I took my Yorkshire Terrier to EAH for five years, from the time he was six weeks old until the time he was killed in 2007. On the day the accident happened, I tried frantically to reach them by phone but the line was busy. My husband and I jumped into the car and sped the 18 plus miles to Ebensburg. I kept trying to call them on my cell, but the line was continuously busy and I was not able to reach them. We got there, ran to the front desk, my dying dog in my arms. They took their time --asking for the dog's name while they PULLED HIS FOLDER, wasting precious seconds. We were finally taken back to a room, where my precious dog was pronounced dead. NO ONE on that staff asked if we were okay --- if there was anything they could do -- NOTHING. In my opinion, they were cold and uncaring. Needless to say, I found another vet.

My Vet for close to ten years...
by Amy R.
I love this facility and the staff...I bring all my dogs there...and I have 7 of them ;o)I always get fast, prompt service. Dr. Hamady and Dr. Duman are among my favorites. They have treated my 17 year old dog (since passed on and waiting for me in Heaven) down to my 6 week old puppy (now 4 months)...The knowledge of the doctors there is incredible...and I cant say enough about their genuine care and concern of my babies...The animals...are their number one priority...and what they care about...not the almighty dollar which drives most businesses...this is not a business to them...it is their passion...I too hail from Indiana, it is about a 35 - 40 minute drive...but I would drive a greater distance if need be to get to them...They truly are available at all hours...they are always their for my babies...and yours too ;o) Amy - contact info: appaloosaqueen@yahoo.com

The Best Vet in the World!
by Don B.
There is no place better than Ebensburg Animal Hospital to take your pet. The Doctors there are the best, and the most caring in the world. My 12 year old dog had a stroke, and after 3 days there, she is home and recovering fine. They called each day to give me an update on her condition over the weekend. Even though it was a full house when I brought her in, I was inside in an exam room in less than 5 minutes. I wouldn't even get that kind of service if I went to an emergency room. This is the only place to go! Thank you all for helping!

LOVE this Vet office!!!!!!!
by Melissa W.
We have been going to this animal hospital for around 6 years now. We had tried many in the area and none even compete with the service and prices that you get here. We prefer to see either Dr Takacs or Dr. Duman or Dr Elias. There was one vet recently there that we didn't care for though. MaryBeth at the front is an AMAZING person and always helpful. All of our dogs and cats have always received the best possible care. I have even had a few emergencies and they were always available.

I don't understand how this place is not registered with the AKC. It makes me nervous to take my new puppy there after reading all of these negative reviews and know it is not registered.

Good if you have a small dog
by K C.
I took my extra large St. Bernard for shots and the vet didn't even examine my dog. She was afraid of him even though he was very well behaved. She acted like he was vicious. I never went to this vet (I think it's Vena) at the Animal hospital before and never will again. We have seen Dr. Elias and she was very caring with our small dog when he was sick. The only way I'll go back is to see Dr. Elias or Dr. Takacs himself. I don't even know why I had to pay $20 for an office visit when nothing was done beside shots.

Pitbull ear crop
by Brogan H.
I took my 5 month old American pit bull puppy to Ebensburg Animal Hospital for an ear crop. Whenever i called and made the appointment i talked to a woman and she told me that the doctor had a book of photos i could look at and make sure i was happy with the work and so on, also that the procedure was painless, and that the procedure would only take an hour or so and i could take her home. All of that was untrue. Whenever i got there they didn't ever have her scheduled for an ear crop they had her in for a spay, then when i asked about the photos the girl said "i don't know who you talked to but we don't have a book" so then i asked what time i should be back and she said ill call you at lunch. pick up will probably be between 330 and 530. it was 730am. And i told her the nurse on the phone said a couple hours, she said she didnt know who i talked to but that wasnt true either. At that point there was like 10 other pepole coming thru the door. i almost turned around and left. Then i met with the doctor who was very very nice. we talked and i showed him my pictures and i felt comfortable with him doing the procedure. so i left. They called at about 2 and said everything went fine and she was done. I got to the hospital at about 5 to pick her up and again there was so many people there waiting they didnt even wait on me for about 10 minutes. Then they were telling me about coming back to get her stiches out and never even made me an appointment for it. then the part that makes me want to scream. They brought her out and i almost fainted right on the floor. I have a white dog, and her ENTIRE head was covered in blood. completely. i was sick to my stomach. she had no cone on her head no bandage NOTHING. I walked her outside and i was crying and just so upset. people were looking at me like i just beat the crap outa my dog. She honestly looked like the pictures of dogs online that just got out of a dog fight. I was horrified. I had to take her back in untill someone else could go get her. I have pictures if anyone would like to see. As far as the ears go they looked great. exactly what i wanted. But they did not clean her up and their service just sucked. i wouldnt reccomend anyone else to them. I was unhappy with the service but like i said the work the doctor preformed was exactly what i wanted. and as far as it being painless, was false. she is most deffinetly in pain. also the nurse streesed to me before i left to not let "him" (my dogs female) lick the sutures. uhm okay last time i checked dogs cant really lick their ears... ?

Well Worth the Drive
by Kimberly S.
I had four cats neutered/spayed at this clinic on 1/21 and I couldn't be happier. I believe they were cared for compassionately and professionally and I found the support staff to be very helpful and cordial. Overall, it was a stress-free, pleasant experience (for me, but probably not for the cats).
What brought me to this clinic (an hour and a half away from my home) was their competitive rates. It's nice to find a doctor who isn't interested in taking advantage of his customers and puts the animals first. My only complaint is that he doesn't have an office in Indiana.
As for the review below this one, although my heart goes out to the author, I think it's commonly known that blood clots are an unfortunate complication to many surgeries - human and animal. To my knowledge, they're almost impossible to predict or detect, until it's too late. I hope the kitten recovered.

DON'T BRING YOUR CAT HERE, YOU WON'T BRING HIM HOME : (
by R. S.
I recently took my 6month old kitten to this vet to get him declawed and fixed. Once we got him home after surgery we noticed he was not walking on his hind legs. He was in extreme distress, labored breathing and whining. We returned to the vet immediately that day to find out he had thrown a blood clot. He is currently completely paralyzed in his hind legs.
The vet admitted to not checking him before we took him home. An aide brought him out without making sure he was okay. Now we are facing putting our baby to sleep. : ( The hospital is also not owning up to the fact that the surgery they performed caused the blood clot.
A close friend of ours also brought her cat to this vet. The cat died in surgery.

Great place, great prices
by Niki S.
I love this animal hospital! I have two other vets from two different clinics I use, but ever since my experiences here I am sold. This will be where I go for most needs unless they cannot fit me in. The only real downsides is the parking lot is pretty small and when you're having an emergency with your pet the last thing you want to worry about is where to park. I think theres only like 10 spaces, and they are usually almost always full. The waiting room is quite tiny too, but that's usually normal for vet hospitals they're all kinda small. Other than those tiny issues, the prices are unbeatable (that I know of) and you can feel safe that your pet is in loving caring hands. When my puppy broke her hindleg they were the only hospital that was willing to take us as an emergency they fit us right in and the fee for not having a schedualed appt. was very small for what you'd expect! My only real complaint is other customers need to keep their hands to themselves when I bring my puppy in a woman walked right up to her and made her scream because she was in pain and just wanted left alone. Very calm, yet crammed atmosphere it's dealable that's for sure!

No better place
by Anonymous
I live in Baltimore, MD but am a Johnstown native. I still bring my dogs home to Ebensburg Animal Hospital to have all their vet services done (unless it's an emergency, of course). The care is unbeatable and the prices are at least 1/2 what I would pay in Baltimore. They fill up quickly so, especially if you need a Sat. appointment, book your appointment at least a month ahead!

I have taken various dogs to Dr. Takacs for a few years now. He has a WONDERFUL bedside manner, and the girl's at the desk are always friendly and attentive. I live in Latrobe, PA and I still take my dog's there. I would reccommend him to anyone and everyone who needs a vet.

Top Notch!
by Anonymous
I've dealt with many vets over the years, from large animal to small, and without a doubt, these guys are one of the best! Who cares about a parking lot, when your pets well-being is in question! Yes, they are extremely busy, it can be difficult to reach them by phone. But this simply attests to their wonderful service and expertise. And regardless of how busy, the staff never pushes you thru as a number (as many busy places would). They take all the time and care needed for you and your pet. The icing on the cake is the cost. You could expect to pay at least double what they charge. From the caring staff, the skill & experienced doctors and the reasonable costs, it's clear they don't look on this as a job. They truly care about you and your pet. And isn't that what's important?

Top Notch Care for your pet
by Brenda B.
I live 30 miles from Ebensburg and would have no other vet take care of my pet. Foremost they are knowledgable and take the time to throughly examine your pet and explain things to you, the owner. Secondly they truly care about your pet and its quality of life and lastly their prices are very good. I have been with them for 12 years and just recently lost my little yorkie to kidney disease. They couldnt have been more sensitive or caring during this rough time. I would recommend Dr. Takacs and his staff to anyone who cares about their pet! In time, when i get a new puppy I will be back to the Ebensburg Animal Hospital!

I've been taking my pets to Ebensburg Animal Hospital for approximately 10 years now and have been happy with the care we've received there. The doctors and staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The facility is clean and their prices are better than any of the other veterninary practices with which I'm familiar in this area. I have recommended this practice to many people.
