Last week I took my two rabbits and a co-workers rabbit up to get a check up to see if they were healthy and the one to get its eye checked out because it was having problems with drainage from its eye. When I arrived the people at the desk were really friendly and had a few necessary forms for us to fill out but whatever, every hospital has those. Anyways after we got their charts set up the attendant kindly took us to the examination room, she double checked with us to make sure all the information was correct. After that she said that Dr. Tackus would be with us shortly. We waited about 10 min but thats reasonable, the Doctor has a bunch of animals to see and its understandable. When the Doc came in he was very pleasant to talk to and very helpful. He explained all that he was doing when checking out mine and my coworkers bunnies. He is very caring of the animals that he sees. He even suggested what to do for the bunny with drainage in its eye. After we did what he told us to do we found that my coworkers bunny was more active and happy. I have a friend who has been taking her bunnies there for over 10 years. She gets them check out and neutered there and she says that he is the best doctor to get a RABBIT check out. I even have a rabbit that I got neutered there over 6 years ago and he is doing fine. They tell you of the risks that might happen when getting an animal neutered because they are honest. Sometimes things might happen after the procedure but hey crap happens. But I can honestly say that they give excellent care to the animals that are entrusted to them. They even explain what goes on in any procedure that they do with the animals and how delicate they are in doing the procedures to ensure the best recovery of your animal. So I just want to say THANK YOU Dr. Tackus for the care and advise you had given to me about my rabbits and they are doing great!!!

I went to check in my rabbit to get neutered and the girl at the counter was very rude (answered every question with a snarky answer including the spelling of my pet's name) and was in a hurry to get me to sign a consent form, I did not want to sign it until I had my questions answered but did anyways (my fault). The Vet was in a hurry to get me out the door when I asked him questions and instead of giving me options or asking if I was sure it was something I wanted to do, he literally said "Well, I think he will be fine and have a nice day!"Luckily, I had a "gut feeling" and went back and got my pet bunny BEFORE they performed the procedure. The Vet called my phone 1-3 times a day without leaving a message for a week and when I finally answered, instead of apologizing, he had to give me an arrogant spill on how wonderful they are there and the exact time he spent with me. He said they keep track in a log of how much time they spend with each customer. Like there is actually a time limit on how long you are supposed to spend with a customer when it comes to your pet's life/health? Yes, "Doctor" you are so caring and wonderful! Sarcasm intended! He said everyone loves Alyssa (the girl at the counter), I said "I don't care about anyone else's experience, all I care about is mine and it was bad!" and with that, I hung up The Vet had told me at the appointment that the ratio of the rabbits dying when they put them under for neutering was 1 out of 200. After I brought my rabbit home, I called another customer of his to tell them about the rude experience and "gut feeling" and she said she has had 3 out of 9 pet rabbits die under those circumstances since November of 2012. I know that I am not the best at math but that is NOT 1 out of 200!He also acted like that is "the only way" to neuter rabbits and I found out there is another place in State College that can do the procedure a different way. I will never go back to this place and everyone I can think of will know about this experience and if you're going to get your lackies to write reviews for you, maybe you should teach them how to spell first :)

My dog had a minor procedure that required over night stay that turned into a 2 night stay. The office called and said I could pick him up. On the way home I thought he didn't seem right. That night he died. I firmly believe they neglected to administer his daily meds for 2 days. He was absolutely fine before I took him in for the procedure. Of course they would NEVER admit to this. This could not have come at a worse time as my father was dying. Dr Tackus said he would check around for a puppy and get back to me. Of course I never heard from him. I believe at one time they were the best in the area but once the business grew it became more about the money and less about the patients. Now you are nothing but a number. I do not recommend.

I heard about this hospital from a friend, looked them up on EbensburgAnimalHospital.com to find their number and hours, and called to get an appointment. The line was busy but I got through on my second try. They were happy to accomodate me and I got an appointment for my dog in the same week! Their building is beautiful and the waiting room was actually large enough that my dog (a great dane) was able to lay down and not be bothered by other patients. The young doctor was polite and knowledgable, the bill was reasonable, and I was even about to schedule my dog's neuter the day of my first appointment!

While there I made sure to ask about surgery prices and payment options (because I had previously read some reviews here saying they offer none)--and I was surprised to be told they DO offer payment options. They can one or multiple checks for up to a month each! They said I could even come in and make cash payments on the check I wrote until it's paid off.

They were so nice and answered all of my questions...it makes me wonder if some of the reviewers on here went to a completely different animal hospital?? Very glad I went and very happy to have them as my vet hospital.

I took my cat into Ebensburg Animal Hospital to have her declawed and they missed a claw! How on earth could they make such a big mistake. Two paws with 5 claws each equals 10 claws. The fact that they could remove 9 and forget one makes me very nervous about what other oversights they commit when handling animals.

When I called I was told I could bring her in and they would remove it free of charge, and would not need to sedate her. I can't imagine removing a cats claw without sedation so now I have a cat with 1 claw.

Yes, they are great with my pets, but their service is beyond annoying. Today I tried looking for what time they close tonight and there is no website and the phone is constantly BUSY! Ridiculous. I know it's "Ebensburg" but geesh, it's the year 2012!!! Get with it!

This is a great place! I don't know what those negative reviews are talking about. Busy - yes, but, by far the best care around. I find everyone to be friendly caring & helpful. Their prices are great & I have had the girls at the desk work with me many times on the payment. They are holding a check for me now. I have had all my cats cared for there AND my birds. Dr. Vena is a wondeful, caring person & even took my sick Lorikeet home with her over the weekend so she could watch over her. She has also seen my cats and is an excellent Vet. All the other Vets who have seen my cats are ALL very good, too. Hands down, this is the best Vet clinic I have been to since I moved from the Phila area to this area 10 yrs ago. I live in Johnstown & my car is broken down, so today I am forced to take one of my cats to a local vet and I am very apprehensive about it.

The best around, so I was told. We called Ebensburg Animal Hospital because our dog was seriously sick only to be told that they wouldn't see her because she had never been there before. They REFUSED to see our sick dog because she wasn't a current patient. We did get her into a vet the next day, but she passed away shortly after. So much for taking care of animals being a priority here. FAIL.

I have been a breeder and animal lover for years. They have been awesome and they always have gotten us in the day I called, they are caring and love animals too. Yes they are crowed and busy, but that only shows they have loyal customers they have. They did not give up on our dog when I had given up hope. He is now 17 years old. we drive half hour for their care.
As for the reviewer who complained about having to pay at time of service. This policy helps keep the costs for everyone down. They do accept post dated checks and are not heartless. I am sure there is more to the story than the writer has told us. I would and do tell everyone to use this vet hosp

I have taken all of my dogs to EAH, though i've used other vets, and even worked for another vet, this is the only place i'd consider in an emergency!! Our most recent emergency~ our 4yr old dachshund was having delivery problems with her second litter. Dr. H took us as an emergency on a Sunday morning at 7am and saved the 2 puppies and Crystal! They're amazingly wonderful!! Many people complain that they're always busy, obviously that's because they're so good!!

i took a 13 week old puppy to ebensburg animal hospital that i saved and ended up getting parvo.....it took 2 days of begging by myself and an assistance agency called habitat for hounds who is absolutely amazing by the way to get the puppy in there. when we get there they say that he needs hospitalized i said ok not a problem what i failed to realize is that they have a NO BILL policy that was not completely nor understandably explained..... so i left the required check to start pmt and the pledge from habitat for hounds. they called me on Tuesday 12-6-10 stating i can pick my puppy up and i rush out to pick him up. needless to say they would not release him to me because i didn't have 303 dollars sitting in a stash somewhere. so the female dr. tells me to try to get the monry from friends and family on Wednesday.... and i did try but was unable so before i could call dr takis on thursday he called my sisters cell phone stating that he had someone that was interested in adopting my puppy and i said i really dont want to give him up but i have no other choice due to me not having the funds. so he kindly told me that he was going to file abandonment charges against me over him. so i spent the rest of thursday contacting animal control the dog warder the local police and the local magistrate over this matter. so needless to say dr. takis seems to not agree for someone to have a pet that CAN pay but on a pmt arrangement and his staff for the most part good to me through this BUT there was a nurse that works the desk with long brown hair and an attitude from hell. she was very rude even though i did voice daily that cost was definitely an issue and that i dont have large amounts of money just sitting around. we are a family of 5 living off of 1 income so to me they should be more understanding to situations and understand that not everyone that walks through their door has thousands of dollars just laying around......i feel very offended and done wrong just because i didnt have all the money they wanted doesnt make me a bad pet owner and i feel that they seem to think i should have just stood bank and let the puppy die,. and also from legal advice there is nothing criminal that i did i sought medical treatment for the puppy and i did not abandon him they REFUSED to work with me and my budget and situation. so take it for what its worth but if you are on a fixed income or a rather low income i do not recommend taking your animals here.

Excellent place- can't tell you how many of my animals they've saved. Most notable is our 13 year old cat- at about 5 years, he developed a colon condition and was constantly impacted. Dr. Takis gave us all options open, including a $1000 operation that wasn't guaranteed to be successful and would remove most of the cat's colon. We decided to do it, and thanks to Dr. Takis, this cat is still moving around like any normal cat. They've also taken wonderful care of our dogs, rats, and mice over the years, as well as giving us advice on our pet fish. These guys truly are the best- they're worth the parking lot and the waiting times. I even drove my animals 3 hours on weekends to get them seen here when I lived in Edinboro. They always work with you to figure out what's best for the animal.

It is true, the parking lot is small, its horrible to try to get through by phone, and the waiting room is cramped. BUT the service, and care provided outweigh all of those problems. I've been taking my dogs to them for 6 years and have had one dog in particular with numerous issues. They have always taken care of her as well as the others. And the prices are great all things considered. I just wish they would attempt to computerize instead of using file folders to possibly save some time.

This comment is not a review of Ebensburg Animal Hospital, but, rather, a plea to other cat owners who might be influenced by Vicki B??s experience at this particular hospital with declawing her nine-year-old cat. PLEASE, PLEASE educate yourselves as to what is actually entailed in declawing a cat and as to the consequences of such a declawing BEFORE you either request or agree to such a procedure. Unlike what you might think, declawing is NOT just removing the claws of a cat. Instead, it is removing the entire digit which encompasses the claw mechanism, including bone and including severing the tendon and ligament for each claw. It is basically like removing your fingers up to the middle knuckle. Do you think that that type of procedure would be painless if it were done to you? Do you think that, after such a procedure, you would still be able to do all of the things that God intended you to do with your fingers?

When he was younger, my son wanted to be a vet, so he worked with local vets for three summers. The extreme pain that these cats suffered and their agonizing cries after a declawing procedure turned my son, even in his teenage years, permanently and vehemently against not only the inhumane procedure itself, but against any vet who would willingly perform the procedure. And, unfortunately, there are too many vets who will push this procedure on unsuspecting and uninformed cat owners as a ??package deal? whenever a cat is spayed or neutered simply for one reason, and that reason is money! What a caring vet would and should do, instead, is (1) refuse to perform such a mutilating procedure; (2) give a printed detailed description and potential consequences of a declawing, such as the article which is linked below, to every cat owner who requests a declawing; (3) instruct cat owners that the proper way to eliminate a cat from scratching inappropriate places is to provide it with an appropriate scratching place, like a good sturdy 3-foot high scratching post wrapped with either sisal rope or sisal cloth; and (4) sell such scratching posts to their clients...instead of ??selling? mutilations disguised as ??simple? and/or ??painless? procedures!

Ask yourselves a question. Would you permanently physically alter a young child or a young puppy just to avoid potty-training them or housebreaking them? Training a cat to a scratching post, unlike trying to potty-train a child or housebreak a puppy, takes all of two minutes!! I have six cats and they are now, in pairs, 18, 16, and 14 years old, and every one of them still have their claws. They have NEVER, and I repeat NEVER, so much as ruined even one single item in my home with their claws in all of these years. That is because from the very first day that I brought them home, each of them was trained to use a scratching post. To train a cat to a scratching post, you simply dangle a toy off of the top of the post to entice the cat to grab at it, and as soon as they latch onto that sisal rope or sisal material with their claws while grabbing for the toy, they experience the satisfying pull that it has on their claws and on their muscles, and your work is done!! Just place the scratching post close to where your cat sleeps so that it is handy whenever they take their normal stretch after sleeping or napping.

If anyone who reads the article in the link provided below still wants to proceed with the declawing of their cat, then pardon me for saying it, but their cat would be much better off in another home!! The bottom line is that if you want a pet who does not need their claws for a whole host of health-related reasons, and if you want a pet who cannot jump to high places with the help of those claws, and if you do not want to spend $30.00 on a good scratching post or take the two minutes that is required to train the pet to use that scratching post, then DO NOT GET A CAT and then turn around and mutilate it for your own selfish reasons!!

A personal note to Vicki B. If your nine-year-old cat could speak for himself, I have no doubt that he absolutely would not share your satisfaction and happiness with your declawing decision! All I can say is poor, poor Tigger!!!

I've never had a problem with them Memorial day weekend my sister's dogs were hit by a car at 3 in the morning she called the vet rushed them up there the vet did emergency surgery on the little one 2 days later she is starting to walk again. He didn't charge as much as he should of. I believe he is in it for the animals and not the money. There are worse places you could go.

I took my cat there and had to argue that it wasn't even a year old they were trying to say it was at the end of its life cycle. They put it to sleep and did something to it. I got a call a couple hours later that he was awake and alright but they wanted to keep him overnight to make sure. They called back a couple hours later and said my Cat Died! Nice place this is. Take your pet in and they kill it and want paid for it too? What do you think of that? Now they are taking me to court for non payment! Stay away from here if your smart and care about your Pet!

I have spent much time reading these reviews. Unfortunately, as with humans, we lose animals to the very diseases we all suffer. Kidney disease, liver malfunction, and cancer take our best 4 legged fur children from our arms, when nothing else can be done. For all of you, I am sorry. I have lost some of my best fur kids to cancer as recently as 3/10. Was it the vet's fault? Never. The veternary clinic in Ebensburg is by far one of the best I have ever been to. I have had dogs, cats, birds, and horses. Even a duck. They took care of all my small animals with expertise to challenge any facility. I have been a client for as long as they have been in town. You may disagree with me. That is your right. Are they busy? You bet!.
Are they overpriced as some vets can be? No! They are reasonable in pricing. Explain every charge in detail if asked. Do they care? Of course they do. Nobody likes to see an animal put down. What do you want them to do? I had to hospitalize my dying 19 year old Siamese for several days. They gave me visiting hours to see him and hold him until the end. Facing reality is a hard thing to do. I am so sorry for you who have lost your best furry creatures. But Doctor Takas and his staff are the best facility around. Sure, weekends are difficult to get care anywhere. Just like Emergency Rooms! I called one weekend and got the vet on call from Johnstown
( several vets have joined together so nobody is without vet care in the county on the weekend). He spent more time trying to talk me out of seeing him than caring about my animal. Another time, Ebensburg Animal Hospital was the vet on call for the weekend. I got in to see the vet. He took care of my male Himalyan that had a stroke! Treated him and I am happy to say, I still have him. I guess I just want people to be real on here. Ask yourself if anything else would have changed the outcome. I'm sorry for the lady who lost her young Pug. Most dogs do not require corrective surgeries at the age of 1 1/2 years. Unfortunately, I believe there was more to the Pug's health than meets the eye in this story. Some purebreds have some real health issues that underlie and animals will mask them as long as they can. We need to understand this when we get the animal. It is for better or worse until one of us leave this earth. I look forward to the Rainbow Bridge where I will see them all again.

I took my nine year old cat to get declawed. I felt horrible having him declawed, especially at that age but he was ruining the carpets in my house and the vet said he would be fine. I had just gotten him a few months before this. I took him down and then picked him up in two days. Because he was older they wanted to watch over him for an extra day. Tigger was back in shape in no time! They even gave him a pain patch! I felt so much better. Tigger is amazing and he loves his new home and my carpets are safe!

On Easter Monday my 4 year old Pug "Pugsley" lost her life due to neglectful care. I took Pugsley in on Saturday (Easter weekend) she had bladder stones, I knew her signs and symptoms b/c she had them 2.5 years ago she had surgery and came home fine the first time she had them, but this time had a different ending. I called to the hospital and they weren't even gonna take me and I said if you don't take her she will die, and she said how about 45 min. so i rushed up there and i was coming from Joohnstown, they took her in and no real exam just an xray and they said they saw 1 stone and they would do surgery and I could pick her up Easter Day, they did call me after the surgery and she was really good. So Sunday the dr. called and said she wasn't peeing a full bladder and they need to see that before she goes home, I could come get her Monday. I was so excited to go get her Monday i was up at the crack of dawn, but then Dr. Tackas called and said her levels for he kidneys was very high and they will test them at lunch (this was 7:41am) at 8:08 he called again and siad she had a really bad seizure, so I rushed out there and within 20 min. she had died. He said he tried to call me but i had already left, that was at 8:18. They brought he in to me and she was freezing, I was a little confused as to why she was so cold and stiff if she had only passed away 15 min ago.I took her home and cried my eyes out, I really don't know how I drove home.I don't understand how a perfectly healthy dog could die after a routine surgery, they said her kidneys failed. on wed.I drove up there to get answers and I left everyone in the waiting room know . they left my dog die. Theres more to the story but I am running ot of room. NEGLECTFUL CARE !!! IF YOU WANT TO TAKE YOUR PET HOME DON'T GO THERE.....

We would definitely recommend Ebensburg Animal Hospital!! They saved 2 of my pets. My female pitbull had parvovirus I couldn't find anyone to take her, it was a sunday night. Then they told me to bring her in, she stayed a couple of days. I thought the bill was goin to be high. It was only 175.00. And then my cat had kitten's she had Complications uterus flipped they took her right in she had to have surgery. It only cost us 116.00 And they fixed her..They are great.. I wouldn't take my pets anywhere else. Yes it's kinda hard to get ahold of (Just keep tryin)

I have had good experiences, and I have had bad experiences. It really depends on who is taking care of my pet that day. I will say Dr. Tackis is wonderful, and if you can get him, you are good to go. I have heard that the waiting room is to small, but I have a few different vet for different reasons, and they are smaller than that. I think they are the most reasonibly priced vets, I have ever found, but very hard to get a hold of, and to get an appointment in is a long wait. But all in all I think it is a good office.

We would definitely recommend Ebensburg Animal Hospital!! We recently had a Shih Tzu named Holly that went into kidney failure and had to be put to sleep. Dr Takacs and staff were her vets for almost 13 years. She had many health problems since birth, but she was the best dog you could ever wish for. We truly believe if it wasn't for their fantastic care she wouldn't have made it 13 days, but instead she blessed our lives for 13 years. We now have a new Shih Tzu puppy and on the way home from picking her up, I called to make her first checkup with them!!! We wouldn't trust her care to anyone else.

I took my two kittens to get spayed/neutered. I paid 157 which included a male/female operation and vaccines. Which is an amazing deal concidering we were going to pay over 300 dollars elsewhere! Very kind vet-exhausted though. They are so crowded all the time. I'm sure you noticed thier phone line is always busy. Most importaint my kittens were home and healthy. only two negatives. Never take an emergency there and if you have the option make your pet wear a flea collar. It is very clean although im sure with as many animals as they have its hard to prevent all thoes fleas! Our kittens returned home with them.

I think that the Ebensburg Animal Hospital is GREAT! We live in Houtzdale; and we have taken our two English Springer Spaniels to State College and also to Clearfield. I was so very impressed with Ebensburg. The care and compassion that Dr.Hamady has for the animals. Our oldest Springer had to have his right left toe taken off because our vet from Clearfield could not find out why his pad on his paw was an open wound for the past four years. He had had an accident when he was a year old; but came through that fine. Well, Dr. Hamady did an xray and found out that BC's bone in his paw was deteriorating. The next week he had surgery. One visit and they knew exactly what was wrong. Now that is what I call a great VET!

I think the Vets here are wonderful, and one of the girls, Mary Beth is wonderful. As for the rest of the girls that work there -they don't seem to have much of a personality.I work with rescue dogs, and I'm constantly at this office. Every couple of weeks when I walk in, she looks right at me with a blank look on her face and asks my name. It drives me crazy! I worked for a Dentist for 15 years, and could always remember patients. The other girls don't talk at all to the pets or their owners, and yes the phones are always busy. However the Dr.'s themselves(and Mary Beth) are very knowledgeable, and caring.I think with any office, you, as pet owner, are responsible for learning as much as you can about your pet and it's illness, double checking medications, and following instructions. Ask questions if you have them, and speak up if you think they are wrong about something.

My 8 year old poodle became sick on a Saturday, stopped eating and drinking, became listless, could hardly walk. My vet is not open on week ends and the only animal hospital near me that takes emergency's would not take her because she was not a patient of theirs!!! It is the same as if you get sick and have never been seen at Indiana Hospital, they won't see you because you have never been a patient at the hospital before!!!! I called Ebensburg Animal Hospital Sunday at 7AM and talked directly to the vet. He told me to bring her in at 9:30. He did blood work gave her an injection, medicine to take at home. By the time we got back to Indiana, she was back to her old self!!!I was impressed with the service and was really surprised at the cost..so inexpensive especially for an emergency visit! They have my business from now on. As a matter of fact, I called them this morning because of her ear infection and I have an appointment tomorrow. The vet that seen her on that Sunday was very compassionate to her pain. It's a little further to drive, but well worth the trip from Indiana. Twila K

We have taken both of our boxers to this facility and I have very pleased with the people and service. Dr. Takics (& the other doctors) are very caring. Dr. Takics will actually get on the floor and make the animals feel very comfortable while there. There are times when the phone lines are busy but just keep trying - they have a huge number of animals to be seen. The girls at the desk and his assistants are very caring also. I travel close to an hour for our appointments and it is worth the trip.

I have been taking my pets to the Ebensburg Animal Hospital for 6 years now. Although the building is small and the parking can be frustrating, the service is among the best in the area. Dr. Takacs will lay right down on the floor next to my big dogs when examining them to comfort them. And the ladies at the desk could not be more caring. They are very good with my man (who is my cat and the man of the house) as well. Overall, I have had only good experiences with the animal hospital.

Simply awful. Cramped, crowed, uncaring. Weeks to see a sick pet. Assembly line medicine. Try to get you in with low prices, but you get what you pay for.

I took my Yorkshire Terrier to EAH for five years, from the time he was six weeks old until the time he was killed in 2007. On the day the accident happened, I tried frantically to reach them by phone but the line was busy. My husband and I jumped into the car and sped the 18 plus miles to Ebensburg. I kept trying to call them on my cell, but the line was continuously busy and I was not able to reach them. We got there, ran to the front desk, my dying dog in my arms. They took their time --asking for the dog's name while they PULLED HIS FOLDER, wasting precious seconds. We were finally taken back to a room, where my precious dog was pronounced dead. NO ONE on that staff asked if we were okay --- if there was anything they could do -- NOTHING. In my opinion, they were cold and uncaring. Needless to say, I found another vet.

NO ONE on that staff asked if we were okay --- if there was anything they could do -- NOTHING. In my opinion, they were cold and uncaring. Needless to say, I found another vet.

I love this facility and the staff...I bring all my dogs there...and I have 7 of them ;o)I always get fast, prompt service. Dr. Hamady and Dr. Duman are among my favorites. They have treated my 17 year old dog (since passed on and waiting for me in Heaven) down to my 6 week old puppy (now 4 months)...The knowledge of the doctors there is incredible...and I cant say enough about their genuine care and concern of my babies...The animals...are their number one priority...and what they care about...not the almighty dollar which drives most businesses...this is not a business to them...it is their passion...I too hail from Indiana, it is about a 35 - 40 minute drive...but I would drive a greater distance if need be to get to them...They truly are available at all hours...they are always their for my babies...and yours too ;o) Amy - contact info: appaloosaqueen@yahoo.com

There is no place better than Ebensburg Animal Hospital to take your pet. The Doctors there are the best, and the most caring in the world. My 12 year old dog had a stroke, and after 3 days there, she is home and recovering fine. They called each day to give me an update on her condition over the weekend. Even though it was a full house when I brought her in, I was inside in an exam room in less than 5 minutes. I wouldn't even get that kind of service if I went to an emergency room. This is the only place to go! Thank you all for helping!

We have been going to this animal hospital for around 6 years now. We had tried many in the area and none even compete with the service and prices that you get here. We prefer to see either Dr Takacs or Dr. Duman or Dr Elias. There was one vet recently there that we didn't care for though. MaryBeth at the front is an AMAZING person and always helpful. All of our dogs and cats have always received the best possible care. I have even had a few emergencies and they were always available.

I don't understand how this place is not registered with the AKC. It makes me nervous to take my new puppy there after reading all of these negative reviews and know it is not registered.

I took my extra large St. Bernard for shots and the vet didn't even examine my dog. She was afraid of him even though he was very well behaved. She acted like he was vicious. I never went to this vet (I think it's Vena) at the Animal hospital before and never will again. We have seen Dr. Elias and she was very caring with our small dog when he was sick. The only way I'll go back is to see Dr. Elias or Dr. Takacs himself. I don't even know why I had to pay $20 for an office visit when nothing was done beside shots.

I took my 5 month old American pit bull puppy to Ebensburg Animal Hospital for an ear crop. Whenever i called and made the appointment i talked to a woman and she told me that the doctor had a book of photos i could look at and make sure i was happy with the work and so on, also that the procedure was painless, and that the procedure would only take an hour or so and i could take her home. All of that was untrue. Whenever i got there they didn't ever have her scheduled for an ear crop they had her in for a spay, then when i asked about the photos the girl said "i don't know who you talked to but we don't have a book" so then i asked what time i should be back and she said ill call you at lunch. pick up will probably be between 330 and 530. it was 730am. And i told her the nurse on the phone said a couple hours, she said she didnt know who i talked to but that wasnt true either. At that point there was like 10 other pepole coming thru the door. i almost turned around and left. Then i met with the doctor who was very very nice. we talked and i showed him my pictures and i felt comfortable with him doing the procedure. so i left. They called at about 2 and said everything went fine and she was done. I got to the hospital at about 5 to pick her up and again there was so many people there waiting they didnt even wait on me for about 10 minutes. Then they were telling me about coming back to get her stiches out and never even made me an appointment for it. then the part that makes me want to scream. They brought her out and i almost fainted right on the floor. I have a white dog, and her ENTIRE head was covered in blood. completely. i was sick to my stomach. she had no cone on her head no bandage NOTHING. I walked her outside and i was crying and just so upset. people were looking at me like i just beat the crap outa my dog. She honestly looked like the pictures of dogs online that just got out of a dog fight. I was horrified. I had to take her back in untill someone else could go get her. I have pictures if anyone would like to see. As far as the ears go they looked great. exactly what i wanted. But they did not clean her up and their service just sucked. i wouldnt reccomend anyone else to them. I was unhappy with the service but like i said the work the doctor preformed was exactly what i wanted. and as far as it being painless, was false. she is most deffinetly in pain. also the nurse streesed to me before i left to not let "him" (my dogs female) lick the sutures. uhm okay last time i checked dogs cant really lick their ears... ?

I had four cats neutered/spayed at this clinic on 1/21 and I couldn't be happier. I believe they were cared for compassionately and professionally and I found the support staff to be very helpful and cordial. Overall, it was a stress-free, pleasant experience (for me, but probably not for the cats).

What brought me to this clinic (an hour and a half away from my home) was their competitive rates. It's nice to find a doctor who isn't interested in taking advantage of his customers and puts the animals first. My only complaint is that he doesn't have an office in Indiana.

As for the review below this one, although my heart goes out to the author, I think it's commonly known that blood clots are an unfortunate complication to many surgeries - human and animal. To my knowledge, they're almost impossible to predict or detect, until it's too late. I hope the kitten recovered.

I recently took my 6month old kitten to this vet to get him declawed and fixed. Once we got him home after surgery we noticed he was not walking on his hind legs. He was in extreme distress, labored breathing and whining. We returned to the vet immediately that day to find out he had thrown a blood clot. He is currently completely paralyzed in his hind legs.

The vet admitted to not checking him before we took him home. An aide brought him out without making sure he was okay. Now we are facing putting our baby to sleep. : ( The hospital is also not owning up to the fact that the surgery they performed caused the blood clot.

A close friend of ours also brought her cat to this vet. The cat died in surgery.

I have a voucher for $100 to get my female pit bull fixed. She is just done feeding pups. And weighs about 75 pounds. I had my outher dog there a white male pit by the name of chico. She has all shots from Dr. Blais in Indiana, Pa. 724 465 5264. How much more will this cost me and when can we do it? And how long do you keep her?

Great prices and very caring doctors. We live in Maryland but bring out pets to Ebensburg whenever they need something done. I can't tell you how much money they have saved us and how wonderful they have been! I highly recommend them.

I love this animal hospital! I have two other vets from two different clinics I use, but ever since my experiences here I am sold. This will be where I go for most needs unless they cannot fit me in. The only real downsides is the parking lot is pretty small and when you're having an emergency with your pet the last thing you want to worry about is where to park. I think theres only like 10 spaces, and they are usually almost always full. The waiting room is quite tiny too, but that's usually normal for vet hospitals they're all kinda small. Other than those tiny issues, the prices are unbeatable (that I know of) and you can feel safe that your pet is in loving caring hands. When my puppy broke her hindleg they were the only hospital that was willing to take us as an emergency they fit us right in and the fee for not having a schedualed appt. was very small for what you'd expect! My only real complaint is other customers need to keep their hands to themselves when I bring my puppy in a woman walked right up to her and made her scream because she was in pain and just wanted left alone. Very calm, yet crammed atmosphere it's dealable that's for sure!

I live in Baltimore, MD but am a Johnstown native. I still bring my dogs home to Ebensburg Animal Hospital to have all their vet services done (unless it's an emergency, of course). The care is unbeatable and the prices are at least 1/2 what I would pay in Baltimore. They fill up quickly so, especially if you need a Sat. appointment, book your appointment at least a month ahead!

I have taken various dogs to Dr. Takacs for a few years now. He has a WONDERFUL bedside manner, and the girl's at the desk are always friendly and attentive. I live in Latrobe, PA and I still take my dog's there. I would reccommend him to anyone and everyone who needs a vet.

I've dealt with many vets over the years, from large animal to small, and without a doubt, these guys are one of the best! Who cares about a parking lot, when your pets well-being is in question! Yes, they are extremely busy, it can be difficult to reach them by phone. But this simply attests to their wonderful service and expertise. And regardless of how busy, the staff never pushes you thru as a number (as many busy places would). They take all the time and care needed for you and your pet. The icing on the cake is the cost. You could expect to pay at least double what they charge. From the caring staff, the skill & experienced doctors and the reasonable costs, it's clear they don't look on this as a job. They truly care about you and your pet. And isn't that what's important?
