The food was great. Restaurant very clean. The food is very reasonable and the food is served buffet style. The wait staff could use some customer service training.

I heard this place has great food. They probably do. However, I will never taste it on principle. If your delivery radius is 1/2 mile, it should be 1/2 mile. This place will not deliver to you within the radius if they don't want to. They canceled our order.

The decor was so-so, the table had cheap paper place mats, cheap napkins, bent/twisted cheap cutlery and there was food under the table/chairs. Prior to arriving we were unaware they only had a buffet. The kitchen is closed till 4pm. Most of the Waiters displayed a "can't be bothered" attitude. One of the Waiters didn't know what "pappodoms" were. The food was old, reheated leftovers all dried out, prepared over the weekend and being sold two days later due to being closed on Mondays.

We had our lunch at tandoor and were pretty satisfied the for dinner we tried new Delhi. Oh God !!!The food here was simply awesome, with right proportion of spices. If you are fond of very HOT(teekha) food skip it.But if you truly understasnd the aroma of spices, this is a must go place.

Buffet offered great variety of vegetarian dishes also. Naans were fresh and evenly stuffed. I just loved the punjabi dahi curry. Before entering In the restaurant I was thinking to get one as parcel, but after tasting the food I got two packs for me and that tells the story.

kheer was also delicious(felt nostalgic)

Only thing I dint like was attitude of these guys. But then I dont care as far as I am getting true value for my money:)

My wife, my son and new born went to New Delhi again last evening, but this time to introduce our little girl to one of our family traditions: New Delhi. To our surprise the place was transformed to a new age eatery with superb hipdecore, that definitely takes New Delhi to a different level. Ofcourse the buffet is still excellent as always, and the service is great as always. The staff are very friendly and accomodating. We have gotten to know Mr. Sharma who has become our little boy's buddy.

My family and I highly recommend this place to everyone, especially to the ones who have not tried indian before. This restaurant serves as a great introduction to delicious dishes including many vegetarian delights such as Samosas. My favorite has got to be the lamb over a bed of basmati rice.

Of all of the Indian places in the city, this one is the best in my opinion (although my Hindi friend who went with me there says if you are a fan of authenticity skip it, as it is overly-flavored and Americanized...but I really do like the food!). Order from the buffet (incredible selection) rather than individual dishes. Nan is always refilled at the buffet promptly (and is sure to disappear promptly). Tikka masala, samosas and saag paneer are yum. If you are a Penn student on a budget and want Indian food go HERE, skip Tandoor India (food there is mediocre at best and might just make you sick).

I love Indian food and tend to pretty picky on authentic Indian food. The food at New Dehli is at best average. The only good thing about this place is the location. It is convenient to Drexel and UPenn. The food is bland and often served cold in their buffet setting. The service is HORRIBLE. My date and I waited 40 minutes for a table when the place was near empty. The customer service was slow and poor. I thought the take out method might prove better but after placing an order I went to pick up my order and I was told that it was never entered into the system. For a restaurant with average food, I was hoping for better customer service but in general New Delhi fell short in ever capacity.

We went at lunch time. We ordered an appetizer platter, poori and paneer bread. New Delhi actually has a menu, and offers a variety of breads and desserts. Check out the website.
The food was good, and comparable to that of Tandoor and Sitar. However, our waiter rarely checked on us and I had to initiate the dessert I ordered, and ask for the check after some time..

If you are ever in University City and looking for a good deal visit New Delhi Indian Restaurant. Its got good affordable Indian cuisine. It also offers both lunch and dinner buffets 7 days a week. Price ranges from $7 for lunch to $ 10 for dinner. The buffett has around 8 dishes and a couple of appetizers a salad bar and it includes sweet dish and tea/coffee at the end of the meal. The buffet also includes dessert and the most amazing chai (indian tea) you will have. The food has been toned down for american tastes so its not that spicey. great for both veg and non veg patrons.

I have been a regular customer here and can judge indian food quite well. The place is located in the heart of univercity city and attracts university students mostly (give 20% off to students too). They have a cheap buffet in day time ($7) but I am always hesitated with their buffet as food is same in all buffet, not delicious except few items and chicken tanduri sucks (not cooked well). On the other hand, regular menu items are very nice, come with free rice, lentil, cabbage veg etc. I would always pick their menu instead of their buffet.

PROS: cheap, delicious menu items
CONS: poor buffet, tanduri chicken is horrible in buffet

The buffet here is cheap and great. The food here taste exceptionally great compared to other Indian restaurants in the area. If you have never tried Indian food I recommend you go with Tandoori Chicken which is a great tasting chicken with mild spices. Also try Chicken curry. If you are looking for dessert go with Gulab Jamun which is milkballs in sweet sauce. Or you can always go with traditional Indian Ice Cream. Good luck and have fun eating Indian food.

We ordered water and a mango lassi, which was thick and delicious. The papadum were tasty and crisp, spiced perfectly and arrived fresh. The vegetable samosas arrived hot and soft on a bed of salad. The naan arrived fresh and doughy, easy to tear and scoop with. The Polau had an interesting approach with essences. Rosewater has a great subtlety but when overused it tastes like soapy dishwater. (This same problem affected our Kheer). Otherwise, the rice was cooked well, and presented with fried onion.

This food is delicious, inexpensive and served buffet style. I often frequent the Tandoori Chicken and the Naan. I'm sure my frequent trips to the buffet area have many diners thinking of me as quite the glutton, but there is nothing not to like about this restaurant if you like Indian food. If you are a meat and potatoes person, you may not like it, because spices about with this delicious food.
