i like the atmosphere..the old pics and the train around the ceiling are a nice touch.also has that old feel.have heard it was previously a pharmacy.the food is amazing, crabcakes are to die for.also like that it is byob.so we always bring a bottle of wine.would reccomend it on a weekday though due tp the limited seating.to me the size just adds to the whole experience.feels homey and comfortable...

We have been going to Sarafino's since it opened. The food is excellent. However, the restaurant is very small and you need to either decide to eat early or late. Making reservations is a joke -- they will say they take them, but they don't keep the table for you. My best recommendation -- go in the summer and eat outside!

I ate at Sarafino's for the first time this week. It was for a casual business lunch. I travel all over the country and this neighborhood spot is not to be missed! Although modest in appearance, the ambiance is "old world - come into my kitchen" comfortable. Do not miss the "Greens & Beans" and rely on the waitress to give you the insider scoop on the daily special. Simply Fabulous!

We really liked this restaurant, but it is very small. We sat outside on a 60 degree night to avoid having our 3 year old having to wait. Our waitress was nice and our appetizers and drinks came quickly. We had the caesar salad and fried ravioli. Very good! The restaurant then became busier with big parties waiting to be seated, so our waitress seemed to forget that she had a table outside. It took an hour from the time we ordered until we got our pizza. The pizza was delicious and we liked the atmosphere and the italian music being filtered through the speakers. The byob is definitely a nice touch. I would go back, but I would want to sit inside if in October (the night went down to 50 degrees by the time we were done) and I would want a different server. We felt that we should have been made more of a priority, considering we were with a small child and sitting outside. It's worthy of a second chance though.

Best kept secret in the burgh. The food and service is very very good, great atmosphere, not expensive. Last time I was there asked the chef if he could prepare me something that was not on the menu and they were very accomidating. Please dont tell everyone how good this place is so I can get a seat.

Pros: Crab cakes, pasta and specials

We had been wondering about the buzz surrounding Sarafino's so we decided to check it out. We were seated immediately in the small space and the server got our drink orders quickly enough. She was back over for dinner orders quickly so we were off to a good start. That's where our luck ended. We sat for an hour waiting for our bruschetta appetizer, our bread a distant memory. We had not seen the server since we placed our orders with her and our drinks were completely gone. The owner stood in the middle of the restaurant shouting orders to the staff not really concerned that customers were cringing at every word. We waited. We finally got a split second to ask for drink refills and she whisked our glasses away to refill the ice, but when they were returned, there was no ice at all. We waited. We watched other tables get their appetizers and entrees...and then as a table that was seated a good 40 minutes after us got their brushetta, we decided we'd had enough. We told the server we were leaving and explained why and she replied "okay". The owner had a similar air of disconcern at our poor experience. When we offered to pay for our iced teas, we were told to "just leave".

My friend and I are dining here tonight and we are both looking forward to it. We don't get to Sarafino's as often as we would like. I love the pasta dishes and appetizers. The bread with the dipping oil is great too. We have never tried anything at sarafino's that we didn't love! It is also very close to where we live which is a bonus.

PROS: Great food, great service
CONS: a little pricey, but worth it.

Excellent Italian food in an intimate family owned restaurant. All recipes are created by the owner?s mom. Dining can be like a party. Food is excellent, especially the pizza, mix&match pasta, and crab cakes. Their appetizers are a meal in themselves. The beans & greens and antipasto salad are especially good. Sarafino?s can be cramped so arrive early or make reservations. BYOB.
