Great place during the summer -- they open the windows for a nice breeze near the bar tables & there's seating outside. It's right in the middle of the quaint Suburban Square scene and there's great food! Bit pricey though, but what do you expect?

If price doesn't matter, this is a great place to go for a casual diner. The bar is open to the outside in nice weather and is a pleasant place to enjoy one of their specialty drinks like a watermelon martini. Enjoy.

Plate is a really great place to go for a drink, or a meal! They serve lunch, brunch, and dinner - and their food does not disappoint! I especially love their HUGE salads, the Asian Chicken one is phenomenal! Their bar is circular with big doors all around that open up - perfect for warm weather!

I had reservations for Sunday brunch with family. The hostess wasn't very pleasant and kept busily wandering the restaurant, which wasn't even half full. While waiting to be seated, I overheard a few members of the waitstaff bickering obnoxiously about who would serve us - one server said he just wanted to go home so he could "take a bath." Seriously. Finally, they decided what section we should sit in and assigned a server who was very nice and efficient. The problems arose once we got our entrees. There were four of us total and we all got breakfast dishes. One omelet was completely wrong (it was supposed to be just egg whites and cheese, but came full of toppings). The replacement omelet then came out undercooked and runny. Two omelets came without toast. When we requested the missing toast, we were brought cold, untoasted bread! The only dish that was "right" was mine -- however, my toast was significantly burnt and my side of lukewarm Turkey Sausage ($3.50) was inedible. I'm not a restaurant critic, but I do know how to cook breakfast and the sausage was so overcooked and leathery, that I had difficulty cutting it. In addition, the home fries were also overcooked, some too crunchy to even spear with a fork! They looked yummy from afar, and I suspect would have been quite good, had they not been turned into little pebbles. I must say that the omelets themselves were in fact quite good. However, all in all, it was an unsatisfactory experience, totaling $79.30 for four people, not including tip. Who knows, maybe all the problems were on the back end in the kitchen, maybe it was a bad day for brunch, I have no idea. The only person working at the restaurant that I came in contact with who wasn't annoying was Beth, our server. Everyone else seemed catty, chatty and mistake-prone! Flipside: The Caramelized Onion Soup with melted Gruyere cheese was really, really yummy. I'll consider trying Plate for lunch before calling it quits completely.

A hip restaurant in trendy Suburban Square serving modern american comfort food. A great place to unwind after a day of shopping. However, because of its trendy location, expect to pay a little more.

PROS: Good atmosphere and good food
CONS: A bit pricey

Plate draws a steady stream of shoppers to its mod setting where new American fare is predictably good. Order pizza at lunchtime, and cedar-planked salmon and grilled organic chicken at night. There's also tender brisket, skirt steak, fish…
