Whether you are a native Pittsburgh-er or a visitor, it is worth a trip to the Heinz History Center. They have a nicely done regional history exhibit, as well as rotating exhibits -- right now, that includes a sports exhibit showcasing area teams and sports legends (from the Steelers to Arnold Palmer) as well as a Pulitzer Prize photo exhibit which is stunning.

This museum is a blast for Pittsburgers, people who used to live here, and out-of-towners. The Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins exhibits are great for sport fans. The main exhibits cover each past decade in Pittsburgh. Filled with news and products of the times, you get to really see how people lived in the past. Very fun. The museum even has a old-time trolley (train) that you can walk around in. Some street parking is available but most people park in the paid lot next door.

The John Heinz History center takes Western PA history and makes it come alive. They have rotating special exhibits, which are great, but my favorite part is the Sports exhibit. You get chills reminiscing through the great sports moments in Pittsburgh history (there are tons!) You have to visit this place to see how great it is~words can't begin to describe it!

Lots of local info in a great building. The temporary exhibits that I saw were also interesting.

Located in the Strip District, the center was built in 1996 from the renovated Chautauqua Lake Ice Company building. It houses a good-sized collection of vintage vehicles in the old garage hall, including a…
