My husband and I ordered a custom made diamond ring with 2 sidestones. Our initial experience was pleasant and we picked out the perfect center stone from their loose diamond selection. The price was low compared to anywhere else we looked. We were told that the 2 side stones will be selected to match the center stone we chose. We asked for the ring to be made in18K yellow gold.
When we picked up the ring 2 weeks later, I was not thrilled because I saw that the ring was in 18k Rose Gold, despite the staff telling me that it was yellow gold except with a different mix of metals used to harden the gold. I have over ten other 18K yellow gold rings, and none of them looked like this one - I am certain it's rose gold. In addition, the center stone was a lower quality diamond than the one we picked - they quickly appologized and switched the center stone to the correct one. However, I had doubts that the side stones were matched to the quality of our diamond, despite the appraisal claiming that it is. I suspected that they may have matched it to the lower quality diamond.
The store staff told us that they can make another ring in a more 'yellow' color if I wanted to. I decided to keep it rose - looks unique.
A couple of days later, I examined the ring under a white, natural light lamp with a loupe. I noticed that the end of the prongs were truly yellow gold whereas the rest of the ring was rose color, and the soldering of the prongs were not neat either, but it's hardly noticeable. The side stone, especially one of them, is not as clear as the other one, though it is hard to find natural stones that look exactly the same.
They have a large selection of quality jewelry in stock and the loose diamonds have the best prices around, but if anyone was to order custom jewelry, I would be careful and have everything double checked to make sure it's exactly what you want and what you ordered - call to check on progress.
Pros: Great price on loose diamonds
Cons: Custom Made Jewelry may not be what you ordered
