My family and I have many dogs & pets from We Love Pets. We are all quite confident in the source of our pets. I felt obligated to tell everyone my experience with this. I myself have been a voice for animals rights and Had reservations about pet stores until several friends & family members had good experiences with We Love Pets. I had the opportunity to meet the owner at the store and purchased a Pug puppy we named Charlie. Charlie came from a breeder who raised show dogs and my dog had too much white on his chest & toes to meet show standards and We Love Pets got him. I am a person who researches things so I began digging into his origins. Charlies breeder had never been sited by the USDA however the internet said he was from a puppymill? So I looked further and found a website that asked people who bought from a pet store to give information on the breeder their pet came from, then immediately lists the dogs breeder as a puppymill even if you state the dog was healthy! I contacted the store and the owner had me come in and showed me many breeders who the same thing were done, I also saw a "picture" of my dogs Mill that was the same stock photo shown for 20 other breeders! I was at the Vet when even he told me that the "evidence" of unhealthy animals at pet stores is false an he has seen more unhealthy animals from the shelter than from We Love Pets but the shelter will charge $400 for a puppy and not pay any vet bills but the store pays bills? Whats wrong with this picture? I also found out the people against this store protest the zoo, circus, fur, farms (all Vegans) etc. My dog and all 13 between friends and family are FINE! Online reviews are not regulated and I find many of these stores reviews are done by activists not customers. We Love our dog.
Unlike a growing number of pet stores that only seems to carry pet supplies, fish, and maybe the occassional parrot, We Love Pets has a huge selection of pets to choose from. They have a great selection of dogs, with new ones coming in every week. If there is a special breed you want, you can even let them know and they will track one down for you.
They also have cats, mice, rabbits, gerbils, birds, lizards, snakes, turtles and a huge sleection of fish. We bring our little ones in here to pick up supplies and its like they're going to a mini-zoo. They love it!
PROS: Diverse selection of pets
CONS:
Conveniently located in the Stoney Brook shops along Baltimore Pike is this little petstore. Last year we purchased a beta fish from we love pets. The salesperson helped us select our new fish and instructed us on care and supplies needed. Althought the pricing is a little higher than most chain pet stores-the personaized service was worth the extra costs. Surprisingly, our beta fish lived for a little over a year attesting to the quality of this stores pets.
Please take amoment and think about what you are buying...These pups are from all over the country, most from puppymills. Some have been suprised to find out the dog they bought is not the breed or health that they paid for...have the wisdom test done by your vet,if your vet doesn't have this test(you know like the free vet visit vet that this store recomends, wonder why?) find a vet that does!As for you all buying so called designer dogs, what is that? Two breeds mixed together, ummmmm, dont shelters and rescues have these by the dozens??????what a load of bs....I think its the best scam the pet market has come up w/in years!!!!!!Anyway, all of you that have 700-1500.00 to spend on a dog, would you not research a tv or a car or afridge and then find the best out there for the money?????Not just spend it on impulse?and seriously,a free crate and collar?that sways your decision?do you know what he pays whole sale for that stuff?????not to mention the wholesale cost of the dog....just type in puppymill and see what comes up and see if you feel so hot about your purchase then!
Nice selection of small puppies.
The puppies are advertised as "Purebred" but I have my doubts. They do not have AKC registration, rather some unknown registration appears on the puppies' papers.
Pros: Two Convenient Locations
Cons: Sometimes overpriced, Not AKC Papers, Not all Purebred
