Schowalter Robert - Golden Mile Animal Clinic

He is the greatest vet! He is caring and compassionate and very knowledgeble. He has cared for all my kids (pets). And I have had quite a few. I have been with him for over 20 years. I would recommend him to everyone. Thank you for being a great vet. GRATEFUL!

I have had nothing but great experiences with Dr. Schowalter. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. When my 13 year old dog had be put to sleep, they were very caring and even sent us a sympathy card. They took care of my poor little 6 mo old puppy who had developed pnuemonia from kennel cough from poor pratices at the pet store. They are great!

I took a 3 year old black lab in for a yearly checkup and shots, and thought I'd have his nails trimmed while I was there. After the shots, a "tech" came in to trim his nails. Being a large dog, he sat on the floor with his right rear leg tucked under him while this was going on. I asked the tech is we could help stand him or roll him over, she said no, even though he clearly wasn't enjoying it, he struggled throughout. After trimming the legs she could reach easily, she then proceeded to grab his right leg out from under him and yanked it up in the opposite direction to trim. The next day, he came up lame.
Another trip to the same vet and I was told he had a torn ACL, and without $2-3000 surgery, there was little hope for him. During the second trip, he cried and carried on in the waiting room while we waited, something he'd never done before, maybe he was trying to tell us something.
Anyway, I went back a few days later to ask the vet about the possibility that the injury had occurred that day.
Immediately and without hesitation, I was barked at, and told that I could "shop that around all you want" and that I would not be successful. Huh? I hadn't even finished explaining my concerns when that came out. He then went on to explain that there was "no way" it could have happened during an office visit. That alone sounded suspicious, I mean, how can anyone be that sure, without even hearing me out?
All I was looking for was a little sympathy and compassion, and to make sure the staff was made aware of it, just in case it did happen there, a very real possibility. I wasn't there to make accusations or threaten legal action, but that was clearly on their minds. It was obvious at that point that they'd been down that road before...
At this point, it's a real possobility that I may have to put a three year old lab down because of this injury.
Beware.

I took my cats for a dental cleaning. I received an NSAID for pain control for the cats. The med was for dogs and I was given 2 syringes for the med. NOTHING was explained to me for dosing. My cat received too much med and nearly died. I took the med back for some instructions and the techs could not figure out how to draw up the med. I have never seen back since- so buyer beware!!! My cat was also treated by a vet I had never seen before and they did not even tell that a new vet would treat my cats.

I have gone here for almost 12 years now. Dr. Showalter is a very kind, compassionate vet and fully explains everything! I had to put my oldest dog to sleep over a year ago and the staff was so kind and respectful. I also have a rat terrier I take there as well..great vets,staff, couldnt say enough!!

Neat & very tidy place & have excellent verts & staff.The pricing seemed to be little higher but worth spending for good quality care.They do explain the options & the pricing so that one would get the exact picture of how much we would get in our bill & thats very good.

A well maintained facility, clean and comfortable waiting area, and wonderful vets and staff. In an emergency with a beloved pet, we were given excellent information and options, as well as a sympathetic ear. The pricing was explained carefully when we were given options, and payment plans can be put into place if cost is an issue. This facility also takes some forms of pet insurance. I can't say enough about the care our pet received here.
