I had been going to Rau Animal hospital for 6 years. Its an expensive place but it was close by. Last year they misplaced my dogs ashes and that was upsetting but what happened on Sat was inexcusable. I had taken my dog there with a fever and trembling on Fri. Without any type of test the vet says it looks like an upset stomach. Gives me some pills and charges me 115.00. The next day my dog cant lift his head ,hes shaking horribly and has to be carried into Rau. Now they talk me into an x-ray to see if he swallowed something .After charging me 227.00 they than say that the x ray won,t show everything, I need to go to VCA emergency clinic and have an ultra sound done. Another 350.00. Why sell me an xray if its not conclusive ? Short story, I payed Rau 750.00 plus 350.00 at VCA to find out my dog needs antibiotics. The final straw, when I looked at my bill they had a 50.00 recheck charge! A RECHECK CHARGE ? They missed diagnosed him on Fri and charged me a RECHECK charge on Sat ! When I called today they tried to justify these charges, even the Recheck charge ! They are a money hungry business with incompetent vets !

My dog unfortunately left this world to early and we had to take her to Rau Animal hospital where we proceeded to have her cremated. Once Rau received her ashes they refused to return her ashes until the measly $500 dollar bill was paid

Between my best friend and I we have taken 9 cats to Rau. I can't say enough about them. The doctors are the very best. I deal mostly with Dr. Jane K and Dr. Neil S. They have treated our animals from something simple to tumors, IBS and kidney disease. I recently put one of my male cats to sleep. Their comfort room is such a great idea. Dr. Neil S. was very comforting. The nursing staff is also the best around, they take time to listen and are very patient. 99% of their reception staff is also the nicest around and very helpful. I would recommend them to everyone.

My one cat just became diabetic. I am starting her on insulin tonight. I received a call from the nurses asking if I wanted to make an appointment so she could show me how to do it. I take insulin so I am sure how to do it. She is going to call me in a week to see how I am making out.

This is caring. Thank you.

I've been taking my animals to Rau with my mom since I was about 6, I'm 19 now!..
They took special care when an animal passed away, made me feel comfortable...
and when my dog needed Abdomen surgery they took such good care of her she healed faster than expected!
they love animals and thats the best quality in a vet! :)

We have been going to Rau Animal Hospital for 13 years now. The Doctors/Staff are wonderful, they truly care about your pet. We recently needed to put our handsome Black Lab to sleep he was 13 years old. The love and compassion that our doctor showed to us and to our dog Max was unbelieveable. I highly recommend Rau Animal Hospital.

I've been bringing my animals to Rau for approximately 6 year now. The care from all of the vets and staff is wonderful. When we had to put our beloved dog to sleep last year, I cannot even express the professionalism and caring that their staff showed to my husband and I and our Latimore. They are just amazing and always go the extra mile.

I just moved to the area and was looking for a physical therapist, as my dog is unusually slow in recovering from knee surgery. I had had a consult before I moved and so I knew what to look for - namely, somewhere with an underwater treadmill. Rau had both the facilities and good reviews in general, so I went. I could not be more disappointed!!! I brought all the paperwork from the surgery and physical therapist in my old town and they weren't interested in it. Instead, I paid more than double what I paid for the first consult in my old city (which lasted an hour) for their PT (in 20 minutes, tops) to tell me all the things I already knew and show me exercises I already was doing. The only "new" idea she had was a pinching exercise, where she advised me to pinch my dog's toes to make her flex - not hard enough to hurt, she said, just enough to make the dog flinch!!! How horrible!!! She tried to show my twice, and both times my dog, who has never tried to nip anyone before, nipped at her hand - good for my dog! So $125 and 20 minutes later, I came away disturbed by a practice that seemed interested in hurting my dog and making money, rather than helping! The whole experience left me with the feeling that someone at Rau realized there could be extra money through PT and so took a basic course, bought the equipment (new teadmill located in an otherwise old, smelly, dirty adjunct wing), and rattles off the standard list of exercises for top dollar. If I hadn't been to a really wonderful physical therapist in my old city, my experience at Rau would leave me believing the whole thing is just a scam!

We have taken 7 cats and 1 dog to Rau over the years and they have treated each animal as if it were their own. All of our animals are adopted, inherited and otherwise in need of special care. Rau doctors and nurses have gone above and beyond to take top notch care of our animals.

PROS: Caring, competent, considerate, compassionate
CONS: They don't treat humans--my daughter wishes that she got this kind of care!

Rau Animal Hospital has several Veterinarians to choose from. They are caring and very helpful as are the many nurses. They also provide boarding and grooming services.

PROS: Many Vets, very caring
