Balch's Fish Fry

Milford is a cute little weekend getaway in a lovely natural setting. I have eaten several times at Balchs and the food looks good but who would have guessed seafood mercury is a killer! If theres one thing I dont like in my fishits mercury.
I enjoy a little butter and lemon with my fish, but mercury?! I think not!
Just Say NO to Fish broiled or fried with high level of Mercury like tuna, bass, mackerel, tilapia and more. Heres an entire website devoted to mercury and how the Bush Administration tried to push the dangers of mercury poisoning under the. Have you noticed how many fish joints have sprung up in the last few years?
In the city "New York" I live in, there must be at least a 4 dozen. The other day I was having a conversation with a friends wife who actually thought that fish were a health food.
Say what?
Theres enough mercury in high fructose corn syrup that nobody is paying any attention to. Theres good fish and bad fish as far as mercury is concerned. Not all fish is safe. Again this is a FDA problem that is not being solved very efficiently.
So, what else is new?

Good atmosphere, Great service though in the end that is about all this place has going for them. Had the fried clam dinner with onion rings. Food was warm-to semi cold at best, not piping hot like I expected. (no they were not busy at the time either) Clams were rubbery tasting and the cocktail sauce was awful. The waitress said it is made fresh there. Quite frankly I'd have preferred a store bought brand over what the restaurant prepares. However, they did not have that option.

I will also say that they were not skimpy on the portions, therefore, I might go back a 2nd time and try something else.

Balch's is a one of a kind family owned restaurant. Not only are they friendly, but they truly care about their customers and will do anything to accomadate any special needs or desires. The food is delicious... whoever said it was "ok" must not know what good food really is. I could tell everything was fresh and homemade. Serving sizes were huge and prices were very reasonable. A great place to dine with family and friends!

Down to earth facility, food is fairly good and reasonably priced. Service is OK. The menu is straightforward, and in all, not a bad choice when working with a budget.

For those who just want to order a quick meal, Balchs Fish Fry is a good place in Milford to go to. You order at the counter and can either takeout your food or sit at a table. It's nothing fancy but good seafood.

PROS: Quick
CONS: Not Fancy
