The atmosphere can't be beat! The sushi is fresh and the service is wonderful. They offer a great variety of sushi items on their menu. The sushi chef's are very friendly and deserve a good tip.

I have enjoyed sushi all over the world, and consider myself an aficionado, but this place takes the cake for the absolute worst. The Ikura was mushy and warm, the roe should be cool and firm and explode in your mouth. The Uni was tough, old, and made me gag (Uni is also my favorite along with Toro and Fugu). The clam was soft, warm, and miniscule. This is the first time in my life that I have not been able to complete my meal. This is the first time I have ever been compelled to compose a review, but feel an obligation to protect my fellow sushi lovers. I am just waiting now to get sick.

Pros: Service: good waiter

Cons: The health department should pay a visit

★★★★★

Excellent food and service.
Great family environment.

Pros: Large variety and delicious food

Sushi Kim is one of the best restaurants in Pittsburgh, hands down. From all the friends and family members I have brought to Sushi Kim for the great food, they were amazed. The atmosphere was smooth and very elegant as we waited for our food and the wait staff was very friendly. We were greeted to our food extremely well by the beautiful little side dishes before our meal. The sushi was prepared in a wooden boat which was a sight to behold and the staff cooperated with all of our requests.

The second floor barbeque was also magnificent as it was all you can eat with fresh meat. The meat on the second floor was raw so it was self-serve but the waiters gladly helped us with preparing the food and taking care of us.

The overall experience at Sushi Kim is one of the best in Pittsburgh as it brings many dimensions to all of its customers. I had so many options from choosing between the first floor restaurant and the second floor buffet. My dining experience at Sushi Kim is excellent as it opened my eyes to the Korean culture and it brought me closer to eating delicous food everytime I go. I would recommend Sushi Kim to anyone who wants for great food.

Pros: Authentic Sushi, Relaxing Atmosphere, Quick Service

★★★★★

Sushi Kim is my favorite sushi restaurant in Pittsburgh. They have great sushi, excellent service, cool atmosphere and very affordable prices. The maki rolls are very large and filling at a very reasonable price. They serve a complimentary miso soup that is delicious. Be sure to try the salad with ginger dressing as well. The service is very prompt and everyone is really nice. If you are looking for sushi in Pittsburgh, Sushi Kim is your best bet. We love it!

Pros: Great sushi, great prices, great service!

Cons: None!

The first time I heard of this place was in 2007. My girlfriend and I were sad we did not find out in time to go. So, this year, when we came up for the annual convention (AnthroCon), we got our bearings and went to see if this place was any good as a local restaurant in Clarksburg, WV. The both of us were surprised at the variety on the menu and the quick service. The workers were friendly and kept check on us throughout the meal without being intrusive. I had always stayed away from sea urchin sushi due to bad reviews and bad process in fixing it, but at Sushi Kim, my girlfriend and I had some and it was superb! We came back the next afternoon with two other friends staying with us because we liked it so much. We just had to share our find. The workers recognized us as convention goers (so they knew the city's activities), and they chatted with us. They did not show an odd look one at our ears and tails we had on, and our waiter even picked up my costume tail when it fell off! We got smiles, quick service, delicious sushi, conversation, and the best green tea icecream ever. Also, it was much cleaner than some of the other places in town. My friends and I definitely will make it a stop during the furry convention so long as it stays in the city. I recommend this place to anybody if they have the taste for sushi.

Pros: food, ambience, cleanliness, polite workers

Cons: price range is a little steep if not with friends, little parking

I'm not sure why others have said the Korean food doesn't taste like "real" Korean food. I was recently in Seoul, S. Korea for a week - and after returning visited Sushi Kim and was surprised just how similar their food was to what I had while I was in Seoul.

Our waitstaff was wonderful and very good - they just adored our 9 month old son and treated us all very well.

I took my family to eat at Sushi Kim and we had a wonderful experience. We ordered Sashimi, and a few Korean dishes. The fish was fresh and the Korean dishes were delicious. The restaurant has a good ambience, the waiters and waitresses are courteous and nice. I highly recommend this place.

Pros: great atmosphere, reasonable price, lots of food, courteous waiters/waitresses

Cons: none

I've been there three times and for two of them I had regular meals and they tasted bad. All Koreans I went with said that their Korean food does not taste like Korean food. I haven't tried their sushi. Their BBQ buffet is good if you like meat and you eat much.

Pros: Friendly

Cons: Food

Sushi Kim is the only authentic Korean restaurant in Pittsburgh that hasn't been modified to a purely American palate. You will see and hear Koreans eating there . . . I took several Korean exchange students there for a break from McDonalds and they said that it was better than home!!!!! The first thing you experience is the aroma when you enter. I love it. If your hungry, your mouth begins to water. I like all the food.... some of the dishes are so strange and are unlike what you find in other places. But they are delicious. Koreans use alot of hot spice, and so if you like that, your a fan. I am getting used to it, and the kimchi is delicious. So are these little appetizers that they bring before your main meal. All kinds of strange things that you will never see at Fridays. I once heard a saying that "Minds are like parachutes. . . they only work when open". This applies here. When you start to nibble on these things they bring you, your eyes will pop-open. The taste is incredible. Why would you deny yourself this culinary experience? Life is too short!!! As for Sushi, they have a staff that is both friendly and efficient. The sushi bar is fun, not like the austere environment of a Japanese sushi bar. For those who have concern about Korean sushi, you should remember that the Japanese are really people who are genetically identical to the Koreans.....the Japanese migrated from the Korean peninsula and settled Japan eons ago, taking the best with them. The Koreans have maintained a less formal approach to presentation, which is comforting and fun. I love the place. Drink, eat, and be merry applies here. You will make friends too.

Pros: Authentic Korean Food, Comfortable Atmosphere

Cons: Not close enough to my house!!!!!

★★★★★

We were advised to get the "best sushi" in Pittsburgh here and they were right! Great selection of fresh fish, wonderful rolls and maki. The service was efficient and fast. On Mondays their kitchen is closed so it's just sushi and you get 10% off your bill. Great deal! If I'm ever in Pittsburgh again, I'll be stopping by for dinner!

Pros: Great sushi, prices, and deal.

Cons: location and parking

I have never had a bad meal at Sushi Kim. I think their food is great. I have never tried their Korean BBQ buffet, but I look forward to that one evening.
If you sit at the Sushi Bar, Michael is a common fixture behind the Sushi counter and a really friendly, funny person. He really makes the experience there even better!
I have always find their fish to be fresh tasting. Their kim-chee is delicious.
One word of caution.... They sell a bottled alcoholic drink there called "soju" it is $4.19 for a bottle ( about 12 oz ) in the liquor store . SUSHI KIM CHARGES $15.00 FOR A BOTTLE. When I questioned the owner about it, she was very short with me. I think their food is reasonably priced, but that is really a crazy mark-up on the alcohol. Will go back, will not order anything alcoholic there.

I have been to many sushi resturants all over the world, but I have to say this was the worst sushi I have ever seen I couldn't even eat some of it. The uni looked like it was from the 80's. The korean food was average so at least I didn't starve. I have never had to return sushi before. The atmosphere was good and service was excellent. I went there with high expectations after they have been voted best sushi for so many years. but the quality of the fish was below subpar. stay away...

Pros: nice atmosphere, good service

Cons: bad sushi

★★★★★

The korean B.B.Q buffet is the best I have tried in Pittsburgh. It is "all you can eat". Pittsburgh Post Gazette also highly recommended it.There are a variety of meats, seafood, vegetables, and korean side dishes. You cook the food on your table, and the atmosphere of the second floor is nice.

Pros: ambience, polite waiters, great price, karaoke party room

Cons: none

★★★★★

Fish is very fresh and the waiting time is minimal. It is not expensive, and Mr.Kim and the entire staff are very nice. It is my favorite place to eat here. I highly recommend it!!

Pros: inexpensive, great service, great environment

★★★★★

I love the long and beautiful sushi bar they have. The atmosphere is nice and cozy.... i love the gal bi barbeque and all those little side dishes that you get... Sushi platters are very good quality and inexpensive. i can't wait for the second floor to open for the korean style BBQ buffet... Anyone can fall in love with Sushi Kim....

★★★★★

talk about value and quality of sushi & sashimi!!! best sushi & sashimi i ever had anywhere in the state. sushi kim has done a superb job till now. mr. kim has come a long way to bring excellent quality to pittsburghers.
love the place and the people. don't forget to ask for special sashimi.... you never know what they will have for you.
great place.. .would definately recommend to anyone who is looking for a awesome place to go.

I had sishimi (sliced fish). It cost ~$9.00 and was very bland. I couldn't tell pieces of one type of fish from pieces of another type. Given its consistency and lack of flavor, the fish had probably been frozen and thawed. And on a more minor note, the soy sauce (which you needed if you wanted flavor) was not very good.

★★★☆☆

My girlfriend and I both love sushi and decided to get some takeout from Sushi Kim. I was less than impressed with the quality of both the fish and the rice. Both were very bland.

I have heard, through word-of-mouth, many positive reviews of Sushi Kim, so perhaps my experience occured on an "off-night". But until I feel like "experimenting" again I'll take my business elsewhere in the 'burgh.

★★★★★

Sushi Kim is the best place I have gone for food in the afternoon and the night and it feels like the food gets better and better after each day!! I love the exotic environment, the caring staff, and the cleaness of the whole restaurant!! Sushi Kim keeps me coming back for more and more each week! I would recomend Sushi Kim to ANYONE who hasn't gone because once they eat the exsquisite food, they will keep coming back for more!!!!!

Pros: Friendly Staff, Clean Interior, Very Good Food

Cons: , None, None

The sushi Kim was a very good sushi..I have ever had. The wait staff is very good and the owner makes sure that everything is in order. And also sushi Kim keeps the fish fresh and safely. I love sushi so I came almost sushi bar in the Pittsburgh. I have never seen the sushi restaurants keep flash fish like Sushi Kim. unbelieveble.. excellent fresh fish on there. I guarantee that they use most fresh fish in the Pittsburgh.

★★★★★

I've been to many different Sushi Bars in Pgh, but Sushi Kim keeps me coming back for more. Great service, great atmosphere, and great food. The best!

★★★★☆

The sushi was OK, but not stellar. I've had much better elsewhere in Pittsburgh.

The non-sushi selections are primarily Korean, and again I've had much better Korean elsewhere as well.
