I spent 4 years in this school and cannot convey how inadequate it was. The history curriculum was abhorrent and left me ill-prepared for college. I found the teachers to be relatively disengaged in their students and one teacher was even emotionally abusive to some of the other female students. Though there was one or two quality teachers at this institution, they never lasted long, moving on to better opportunities. The principle and a few of the female teachers had a clique that consisted of sitting in a car during the students' lunch break where they smoked cigarettes and gossiped about students instead of supervising them. They all smelled like a barroom floor for the rest of the day. (Very inspirational for the students!) Finally the school's althetic programs have an "everybody plays" approach which discourages competition and effort. The school is extremely deficient in basic materials for the tuition it charges. This is not a quaity private education, it is a big sales pitch to give them money so they can pretend to educate your child. Most of all, they have NO interest in the social or emotional development of the students - they just want them to get higher SAT scores so they can put good numbers in their brochures. It borders on being an academic scam.

St. Joe's prides itself on its Cathoic education and its private school atmosphere. While there are indeed many redeemable traits for the school, for the most part I would argue that this school is not worth the tuition it charges. The classes are extremely school and because it is a Catholic institution they do not receive the funding necessary (as a private or public school would) to compete with these institutions in the way of technology, science and access to national programs that give students exposure to more experiences prior to college.
