i walk the dogs at the humane society on wed and fridays. i have seen that they do care for the animals. i have adopted two dogs and a ferret the society. i have heard all kinds of stories but have never seen any kind of abuse. not really sure. i do know that the people that run the place are not friendly at all!!! but why let the animals suffer just because of that. i did see some sores on the animals and brought it to the attention of the workers. they do have people who clean out the cages and try to keep it clean. so really not sure about the whole scandal of abuse. i do know that they seem to turn an eye when something is wrong with the animal like sores or kennel cough and don't like that. the general public does not see what goes on behind the scenes but this shelter is a kill shelter and do get paid for every animal they put down. GROUPS ARE TRYING TO HAVE THIS BECOME A NO KILL SHELTER AND I AGREE WITH THAT. NO ANIMAL SHOULD HAVE TO BE PUT DOWN JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE ALIVE!!! I RATE AN UNSATISFACTORY UNTIL IT BECOMES A NO KILL SHELTER.

I adopted a hamster from here, I had to wait a day or two, before I got him, t the staff was helpful and my kids enjoyedour new pet. I will always be grateful to lehigh humane society, I would always go back.

Please do not use this facility to adopt or surrender pets. Not only do they un-humanly euthanize animals, they throw cats/kittens against the wall, stomp on their heads, and don't sedate animals before they euthanize them. Lost animals are never given the chance to find their rightful owners. Many owners of pet have told countless stories how they went to the shelter to look for their pet and told it was not there. Later on it was found the pet WAS there and either they euthanized it or adopted it out. It is NOT funded or run by the county. It is run by a husband and wife. There is a local group is trying to shut them down. Please, please don't go there.

My dog got out of our fenced-in yard on a Saturday. We immediately looked for him in the neighborhood AND the shelter, they said he wasn't there! I had trackers go look for him at that same shelter....they said he wasn't there. After an entire week, I received a call from a person looking to adopt a dog from that shelter and said she saw my dog out on the floor to be adopted!!! We went over and sure enough it was him. We had gone there several times looking for our baby and they said he wasn't there. He wasn't there because they had him in an "overflow house" with the sick and pregnant dogs! We got him home on Saturday, on Sunday he started coughing and not looking well, it went downhill from there! We took him to the vet who said he has a bad case of kennel cough or worse it could be the super canine flu and turn into pneumonia! My dog is STILL sick! He had to have subcutaneous fluids, antibiotic injections as well as a cough suppressant with codeine in it. Oh, and not to mention the food supplements because he has no desire to eat! Thanks for turning a vibrant healthy dog into a sick, miserable, lethargic mess! He had been at that shelter the entire time, they had him since he escaped from the yard and even though they had our flyer, no one even cared enough to check for my dog! Say what you want, but this is NOT a good shelter! I wish I could adopt EVERY animal in the place and rescue THEM from that place!
