I don't know this area well and don't have a car; I picked this place because I could get there without a car and the price seemed reasonable - $20 for a haircut (I called before setting up an appointment). I was doing a donation so I needed the ponytail cut off and some styling done. When I measured the ponytail at home I thought it was 14", but with the angle that could have been wrong so I wasn't surprised when the stylist, Filomena, said it was 12". That was fine; I needed a minimum of 8" for the place I send it to so I told her to cut 9". The final haircut seemed short but I figured it was just something I'd have to get used to; this is always a major change for me. Then when I got back to the house and took the ponytail out of the bag so it could dry it it seemed long, so I decided to measure it. It was 13" - 1" longer than the stylist had said was there when she measured it, and 4" longer than what I'd told her to cut. I should have hair that's about shoulder length; instead it doesn't even come to my chin. And it's longer on the left than it is on the right. The bangs are also too short, but the stylist didn't ask me how long I usually wear them. She also didn't ask where the part was, and left my hair with no part, just brushed back somehow, which means she didn't even notice where the part was before she started. In fact, the only thing she did ask about was the length of the ponytail, and she got that completely wrong.

After I discovered the length discrepancy with the ponytail I decided to ask for a refund, so I went back the next day. The person I talked to, who I assume is the owner, said she doesn't usually give refunds; she kept talking about how there can be miscommunications, and how hard it is to cut hair after a ponytail donation, and how Locks for Love needs 10" anyway. I told it wasn't going to Locks for Love, I have another place I send it to - this was my 3rd donation there. Then finally she said it would grow back anyway. I was thinking I was going to have to call my bank to dispute the charge when she pulled a $20 bill out of a drawer and handed it to me.

I understand that in any business things get screwed up, but to argue with a customer about it just makes things worse. There were better ways my complaint could have been handled - like, ask what happened, *listen* to what the customer says, apologize, refund the money, and then talk to the person who screwed up so they don't do it again. Don't give the customer a hard time - that not only doesn't help customer relations, it could hurt further business when they tell other people about their experience - like I'm doing here.

So, to sum up - a poorly done haircut and poor customer service. I won't go back, and I don't recommend this place to anyone.
