TLA is really cool. They have a pretty sweet selection and accepts trade in's. They have nice people to work for there as well and I really like the monthly membership because the location is awesome. The only problem is that the 25 plus tax monthly membership is a little high for just two movies out at a time. Other than that it's sweet and I was even able to trade in some old dvds for a good price and get credit for the video store, which I used toward my monthly bill.

I have shopped at all the Philadelphia TLAs, and have the same complaint with all of them - it is difficult to rent the movie you are interested in because the stock is not big enough. Despite having a wide selection, there are usually only one or a limited number of copies of each movie. Leads to frustration and ambling around the store for long periods of time.

TLA is the best video store I have ever rented from! They have a huge selection, including excellent foreign film and gay and lesbian sections. They also have a porn section if you're into that. Movies are $4 to rent for 3 days (I think, maybe more?), and 5 days for older releases, and when you rent 2, you get a 3rd for free. They have a new policy where if you return a movie the next day, you get a $1 credit. The staff is very knowledgeable also, and there's a section of staff picks that is fun to browse. Unlike other video stores, all you need is the name of the movie you want to see. The only downside is that sometimes movies are out since they might not have as many copies as the mainstream video rental places, which can be maddening if you've been looking forward to seeing something! I suppose that's what allows them to carry so many movies. TLA is frequently one of the locations where you can buy Philadelphia Film Festival tickets. They also have a small store in the front where DVDs are for sale. Note that they have a few branches in addition to this one, in the South Street area, the art museum area, Chestnut Hill, Bryn Mawr and New York City.
