I'm shocked by the reviews on this website. Are they put there by competitors or by people who don't know what real tailoring is? Steve seems to be the only person in Philly (outside of the tailors who work in-house at Boyd's) who actually knows how to band a hem. He's done a great job with my complicated stuff (lining a coat, lengthening sleeves on a vintage garment) although that takes some time because he and his staff are willing to take the time to do the job right. If you have good stuff, I would only trust it to Steve. If you want a hack job done fast and cheap, go to your local dry cleaner.

Pros: Actually knows how to tailor

Cons: For big jobs may take some time

I have been a loyal customer of Steve's for over three years, but after being repeatedly treated with unprofessional and untimely service, I am going elsewhere for my tailoring. Steve's has rarely turned around my tailoring on time, and it once took him over three months to shorten the straps of one of my dresses. When I finally got the dress, the straps were altered unevenly and were too short. I came into the store this week to pick up a dress I dropped off two weeks ago, and it was of course not ready. Steve told me that it would take several weeks because he was busy, and that it was one of those jobs that he just didn't want to do! Giventhe premium prices he charges, I will gladly take my clothes elsewhere aftr this experience.

I brought numerous pieces of apparel to this shop after one very strong recommendation online but was absolutely appalled at the quality of service. Either the original reviewer is the store owner or related to them somehow or even mixed up in who they went to because this tailor, as nice of a man as he is, has no business tailoring. I have gone to numerous tailors throughout my life and never had such a problem. Sometimes I have been to places that don't do the best job but it is still adequate considering the price, but. not the case here. Not only is he lacking any skill in this trade, he charges to dollar. I don't mind paying $35 to take in a pair of dress pants if it is done right, but $35 dollars for the wrong color of thread and disproportionate hemming, no thank you. Don't now anything about his cleaning ability but if you need something tailored, look elsewhere.

Pros: None that I experienced

Cons: Overprice, poor quality work
