I have not been to Del s for a couple of years so I had to give it a 2 star rating for the type of food and service I had at the time.It was definitely not the old Dels food I knew growing up!!Because i am an inner city Pittsburgh girl

The only reason I even gave it one star is the owner was trying so hard. The food was terrible. We were looking for a restaurant for my son's wedding rehearsal dinner. Had reservations, it didn't matter. From the appetizers to through

This place is NOT a restaurant; it's an over priced, glorified Pizza Shop/Roach Motel. There are no chef's in the kitchen. They all pretty much got their culinary degree's from the County Jail. The owerners must get some kind of kickback from the city because that's pretty much all you have working there. And drugs?? Well, whatever you want you can find it at Del's. And Jessica was right, everything is microwaved and NOBODY wears gloves. They wipe their sweaty faces with their bare hands then touch your food. The ACHD really does need a spy to see what really goes on there. The IRS would have a field day. Nobody gets paid overtime because they get paid CASH. And the walk-in cooler (none of them) have safty latches. On of the servers was actually thinking of having someone shut the door with him inside just so he could sue the place. Or at least maybe, get it shut down. And if your handicapped, better bring a potty chair or wear a diaper because the bathroom is in the basement. And turn your hearing aid down because you know when Marrianne is in the building. The woman does nothing but scream. She's nasty even when someone compliments the servers performance. She will find something negitive to say. They best way to become one of her "pets" is to be gay and talk about, in detail, your sex life. I would not want anyone with a clean living life style to work there. "Sand in my toes, and coke up my nose" was what she likes to sing. I could go on and on, but you got those die hards who still believe in her. To those I say "work for the c#*t just one week. See how she treats people. She how filthy the kitchen is. And don't leave your wallet inside your coat or you might just leave with money missing or a new pet to take home "

The food was okay and the atmosphere was comfortable. I still think that Alexander's is the best Italian restaurant in the city.

After dining at this establishment and then reading all of the reviews, I really don't understand how this place is still in business. The only reasonable explanation I can think of is that it must be mafia owned and operated. That's the only explanation that makes sense. When we walked into this place we were disgruntally greeted by a waiter who definitely had an "I don'rtgive a f@#$" attitude right off the bat. He told us that a hostess "might" be around in a few minutes to seat us. After a few minutes he came back and said "I guess I'll just seat you". Gee thanks douchebag! Lucky for us, he waited on us too. :)First he brought us some bread. The bread was very dry, bulky slices that I had to literally smother in butter just to stomach. Then, he brought me the french onion soup that I ordered. The soup was luke warm and had a very bland taste to it. I asked the waiter if he could bring me a soup spoon since all I had was a teaspoon. He said "Oh, you mean the more rounder spoon?"....I'm not kidding!!! It's not called a "more rounder spoon". It's a soup spoon. You are not a waiter and your restaraunt knowledge would not qualify you to work at McDonalds.Lastly, he brought me my Fetuccini Alfredo, which was the cherry on the top. Once again, the dish was luke warm and the alfredo sauce litterally had the consistency of water. I ate about 5 bites then asked for the check. I told the waiter that I might have been able to eat this has they had soup spoons. The head chef at this place should be absolutely ashamed of his work and should really consider changing occupations. If I was the owner of this place, I would be doing a major overhaul on the entire staff! AVOID THIS PLACE!!!

Absolutely, by far the worst restaurant experience i have held witness to in years. Upon entering Del's (which was very crowded at the time) we asked a 50 something man in a waiters uniform if we were to seat ourselves. He was leaning against the wall and nonchalantly told us someone would be around to seat us...eventually. After 5 minutes of no one coming to seat us, the man acted very off-put but continued to seat us himself. He actually ended up being our waiter. We were given mediocre bread, so bland that we had to cake butter on like icing followed by soup. We inquired about getting soup spoons and our waiter stared at us like we were speaking chinese before telling us they didnt have soup spoons and proceeded to hand us tea spoons. -Thats right, not even table spoons. Our entrees came next...completely horrible. Fettuccine with alfredo sauce thinner than water was what we were served. Had Del's known what a soup spoon was, they would have served this dish with just that. We ended up complaining about this and it was removed from our bill. All the while this is happening there is a crooked poster plastered on the wall next to our table reading "Pop the question at Del's, you bring the ring and we'll do the rest." Let me tell you, if that ever happened to me...done deal we would be broken up.

All the negitive reviews are so true about this place. They must be getting illegal inspections every year. the kitchens are filthy. There are critters everywhere, including the bread. The owners are just nasty. I haven't figured it

Worst food I have had in Pittsburgh so far. Service was horrible, the waiter was very rude and could care less about his attitude. The food was just as bad. The chicken in the chicken diablo was totally tasteless and the pasta primo tasted like bad garlic. Do yourself a favor and go a few blocks down to Alexanders.

I have been going to Del's for years. The food is decent, not the best Italian, but OK and you get lots of it.
This last time I went, with a friend, both of our wine glasses were filthy! Not just a smudge here or there, but filthy--looked like they hadn't been cleaned at all from the last person using them. Our waitress, Kelly, was totally inattentive and we had to wait to get a different drink, wait to get our order in and she never came back to see if everything was OK or not--which it was OK, but not what we ordered--so we just settled for what we got. She walked by and happened to grab an empty beer bottle off of our table, but never asked if we wanted another. She brought our check and then didn't come back again for another 15 minutes to pick it up. I left a 10% tip--hoping to maybe make her change her tactics--well it did, when I received my CC statement--she had added a few more bucks to the tip!

Wont go back!!!

I have to agree with Michanty. He/She is correct, right down to the bugs in the food. I worked there for five years.

I really don't know why I stayed so long. When I started working there, the food really was great. But due to rising food costs and the brother/sister owner taking money from the business on the sly (and trying to hide it from each other - like the other one wasn't doing the same thing), they've kept raising prices, and buying ingredients of lesser quality.

It's not worth the price or risk that your entired meal will be ruined b.c of bugs or a ranting Italian woman.

I worked at Del's for a little over two months. This was the third restaurant that I have worked in, and I started working at Del's because it was closer to my home. Anyway, initially, I liked the restaurant and the relaxed atmosphere. However, during my third day of training, one of the servers "jokingly" told me that the restaurant was full of cockroaches, mice and rats. The server said it jokingly, so I didn't pay it any attention. After working at Del's for a week, I realized that the owner, Maryanne, was a loud, disrespectful and obnoxious woman that was derogatory and down right disgusting to the employees for her own sick enjoyment. After watching Maryanne yell at some of the employees so fiercely that they were brought to tears, I decided to at least stay on her good side. Maryanne told me things like, she receives an illegal inspection each year. Although I was on her good side, each and every day, from the day I interviewed, at least one person quit or was fired. Some days, multiple people were let go or quit. All of the cooks are paid under the table, hence the fact that if you ask for anything, your server tells you that it will be a fifty cent, dollar or two dollar up charge. Not a single thing about this restaurant is legit or legal.

Each time a customer had a complaint, the servers were to bring the issue immediately to Maryanne or John Del or Pizza John. One of those managers would then just comp the entire bill and often times give free drinks to the customer. To many customers, the comp of an entire bill sounds great, in case they had an issue with the food. However, after about five weeks of working at Del's, one of my customers found a cockroach baked into their lasagna. Maryanne comped their entire bill, got them free drinks, made them food to go and then gave them dessert. As a customer, if I find a cockroach baked into my lasagna, the last thing I want is more food from your establishment. The last straw for me also occurred that evening. I went downstairs to the basement to get some napkins, I saw a few mice (or rats; not really sure the difference) running around. I immediately ran upstairs and left the job. I urge you to not eat at this place because it is so disgusting and the staff is treated like absolute crap. I have already contacted the Allegheny County Health Department, Better Business Bureau and the Department of Labor and Industry, but I really want people to understand the disgusting nature of this place.

Pros: Wish I could get this place a 0, but I had to give them a 1

Cons: Mice/Rats, Nasty Food and Hostil Work Environment

I used to go to del's frequently but haven't been in 2 or 3 years until tonight. The atmosphere was way too loud, the pasta sauce tasted gross, service was slow and horrible. It was deff. not worth the money I paid. If you have a family it might be a nice place to go if you want to pay for over priced food, but i will never go again! I will just stick with Olive Garden, it's cheaper and tastes better!!

sauce. I have been disappointed time and again with pasta selections. I can't decide if it's that they don't strain the pasta enough or the sauce is just that watered down. If you want a great pasta dish, stay home. Wedding Soup out-of-this-world, everything else I can honestly say is delicious you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu(that doesn't contain sauce) with the exception of pizza. Sunday Brunch you can't beat it if you can get seated. The last 2 times I attempted to go I end up turning around because it was to packed. I grew up loving Del's. I had my communion party there many moons ago. Great family friendly atmosphere, friendly, presentable and prompt wait staff.

Went Sunday morning to find the best Brunch without leaving the city!! Standard eggs-bacon-etc-but then you can have some Chicked Marsala-Mafalda sauce-salad-fruit-croissants & the list grows!!! All you need after that for the day is a small snack before bed!! All that for under $10

I live in Rosemount MN, left Pgh in the late 80's. I make sure I get back to Pgh every year to fill the pickup with Mancini's Bread, Stuff from Leonard Labriola's ....and to eat at Del's. They still have the best lasagna, meatballs, wedding soup, and the cold antipasta plate is great. After reading some of these other reviews....what kind of kool aid are yuns drinking??

This place has great Italian food and a wide variety of food on the menu. I also liked the kids menu..they are able to make thier own pizza and then they cook it for the kids. They have a great vibe there too. The service is good as well.

This place has great Italian food and a wide variety of food on the menu. I also liked the kids menu..they are able to make thier own pizza and then they cook it for the kids. They have a great vibe there too. The service is good as well.

Oh my. Go here if you like ice berg lettuce for your salad, really greasy food and marinara sauce that tastes like metal. Oh it was so bad.

This restaurant was really good for the money. Nothing fancy, but clean and friendly atmosphere. It is a Kid Friendly place. Affordable and good. We liked it better than the Olive Garden.

of the handful of italian restaurants in Bloomfield (pittsburgh's little italy) Del's is at the bottom of the list. Recommend D'Amico's.. especially for their veal dishes... Alexander's for pasta

Great Italian food, great value for the large portion with a friendly atmosphere.

Pros: excellent food, great portion size, great value

Cons: parking difficult, very busy

Several years back, Del's was home to some of the best Italian food in town. Not so these days. Over the last 2 or three years, Del's food and service has steadily declined in quality.
The salads are wilted, the soups are briney, and the entrees are bland. Not to mention an atmosphere so loud you cant hold a conversation with your companions.
With so many other excellent Italian restaurants within a few blocks, I don't know why anyone would suffer through a meal at Dels.
