...Hello Chinese Food Lovers...

...Most of my adult life has been lived in the Southern California where there is a broader mixture of people...I have had an opportunity to experience a variety of ethnic dishes...My favorites being Chinese and Filipino meals...The Cooks at the Chinatown Inn do not know how to prepare Authentic Chinese Dishes...I have dinned at that location in the past finding the cuisine less than desirable...But...Decided to give the restaurant a second chance...Once again I was disappointed...

...In addition...The service was very poor...A waitress did not return to my assigned table even one time...Only when I asked for the bill did she approach me with a very large smile as she said to me "you happy with food"...I looked at the half eaten meal I had purchased...My response being "it was fine"...As I made my way toward the exit the woman said to me "food good" and "you like food"...Again my response was "fine"...The woman then said "you left no tip" and "why you leave no tip" ...My response was "maybe the next time"...In an angry tone of voice the woman said to me "maybe I keep all your money next time huh"...I did nothing but exit the building...

Pros: Exc quality

Cons: None

The best Chinese restaurant in Pittsburgh. Venerable. A favorite luncheon spot. Crisp, friendly service. I recommend the daily fish specials with choice of sauces (ginger or black bean). Highly recommended.

I just love this restaurant. As a truck driver, I've had the chance of visiting many Chinese restaurants across this country and I have to say that this one is one of the best, if not THE best in the country! The fried rice is actually FRIED RICE, not yellow saffron rice thrown in the wok for a few. The vegetable egg rolls, as well as the chicken egg rolls, are crisp and they taste freshly prepared rather than flash frozen. The wait staff is very helpful, even if they are heavily accented. Most importantly for me, they were VERY accomodating to my potentially deadly shellfish allergy. I highly recommend this place to anyone who needs a fix for Chinese food in the Steel City!

Don't listen to that Tamara girl. If you go to a restaurant 10 minutes before they close you deserve what you get. The people are fantastic, the food is outstanding (try the chicken fried rice...best in the city) and atmosphere is superb. I hate people that go somewhere like a restaurant right before they close. It is a nuisance and is rude. She got what she deserves. She's probably fat, too.

Been there a few times late night and every time we were turned away. (They used to stay open until 5am years ago) The first time was @ 2.50am and they told us they were closed, I looked at the hours of operation and told them they were supposed to be open until 3. The begrudgingly served us. The next time we showed up @ 2.30 to make sure they were open and this time they turned us away... but in the back room there were many Chinese still there eating in the back room. Incensed I vowed never to return....
Well this last time (Sunday morning 13 may 2007) me and my friend Michelle attempted to be served one more time... this time @ 2.10 AM. We observed again, the back room full of Chinese patrons... SHE TURNED HER BACK ON US AND SAID THEY WERE CLOSED WHILE HER BACK WAS TURNED and we were turned away again. These people are r@cist and there are witnesses. If you wish to talk to me personally about this, my email address is goodemailaddress@hotmail.c0m and my name is Tamara. I will be glad to talk to anyone on the phone concerning this behavior they continue to display.

WE HAVE ALWAYS HAD GOOD FOOD AND GOOD FUN THRU THESE YEARS. WE HAVE SOME FAVORITES, WAR SHU GAI, GENERAL SO'S CHICKEN,BEEF & SHRIMP TRIO & CHICKEN WAR BAR. THEY ALSO SERVE THE BEST WANTON SOUP & EGG ROLLS. WE DO HOWEVER TRY SOMETHING NEW OFF THE MENU EACH VISIT. WE HAVE HAD FAMILY MEALS, BIRTHDAYS & SPEC. OCCASIONS AT CHINATOWN AND WE JUST LOVE IT.
