We ordered a ceiling fan on 12/23/2010 and were told 6-8 weeks because it had to be ordered, and of course, we had to put a deposit down, which apparently we will never be able to get back. After 8 weeks, we called and were then told it would be longer because of the bad weather. Then we called again, a month later and were told once again, it wasn't here because of the bad weather. Now here it is, 4/26/2011 and no fan. We tried to call the Monroeville store and the recording said the phone number was no longer in service. The other store phone just rings and rings. Worst experience ever!

We ordered our light fixtures 1 month ago today and were told that they would be in in a few weeks. When we called him last week we were told that two of our fixtures came in broken and that they would have to be re-ordered. He told us we would have them before Christmas so we will see if he is a man of his word or not. Knowing what I know now I would never do business with Electra Lighting.

BUYER BEWARE!! Like many others, I wish I had thought to check the reviews on this place before we decided to buy a light from here. We purchased a new light for our entry way around the end of July. We were told by the owner that we could return the light and get a refund if it did not fit or if we did not like it since were ordering from a catalogue. That was very important to us as we are younger and first time home owners so that we did not waste our money on something that might not fit or be too big and bulky. Reassured many times that it would not be a problem as the owner said he "would have no problem selling this light if we didnt like it". The owner told us we may have our light by the beginning of the next week but most certainly in 2 weeks. 2 months later and the light finally came in. We called in between that time frame and were met with very rude workers including the owner himself. He told us that he never said our light would be in in that amount of time. We also came to realize that on the bottom of the order sheet is small little paragraph saying NO REFUNDS, NO RETURNS,EXCHANGE ONLY. Orders can take up to 20 weeks. Not what he told us in person. I will say that when the light finally came in it was very beautiful and fit well, as he said it would. But the customer relations aspect of this business is horrible. I feel that since we are a younger couple that we were taken advantage of. Read everything, be aware of contracts, and be prepared to wait. If he tells you something in person, have him sign off on it on your order form.

The owner is the rudest person I've ever run into ,a real smart alec. I know I'll never see the ceiling fan, ever. How can this horrid place stay in business? NEVER NEVER NEVER do business with this company. We have been waiting three months for a light that I doubt we'll ever see. We paid for half of the light in March. We were told it would be in in two or three weeks. Nope ..check out other reviews. It just gets worse and worse. I am turning them into the Better Business Bureau. We have asked about the light multiple times. We are told the manufacture has it on back order. I doubt that it has even been ordered.

I worked for the guy!!! The worst boss I have ever had. He was late relieving me most of the time and always late paying me my money. Two weeks in a row, he tried to not pay me at ALL!! The guy says he doesn't scream, however that's all he does!! He also froze me to near death, made me handle all the disgruntled customers, and picked on my thin appearance. Even though he knew I have internal organ problems. What a creep.

I don't know how this guy stays in business or what he is selling but it sure isn't lights. My experience was the same as countless others on this site. He will only take cash as a deposit and you never get any lights. Every time you call he is very rude and says they will be in next week and he'll call you. He puts you on the defensive and acts like you have no business calling to ask where your lights are. He is nothing but a con man and needs to be put out of business.

I would like to say that this is a great store. All of you who keep bad mouthing the buissness are being rude so please stop. Orders are getting back orders and Companys will not allow you to place orders unless you have a certain about of money in orders. The reason people are being asked to pay up front is that because after a few weeks people are cancelling thier credit cards when thier order doesnt arrive even though they are still in contract and I am sure that the owner is stuff with theses lights that he has no need for. People please focus on the good in life and not the bad it will do you alot of good. If you think the owner is a crack addict you must have no idea what crack is.

Just like so many customers here me and my boyfriend ordered a fan from here DEC 1st 2008, Liz was our salesperson, she told us it would be in in 3-4 weeks, it has been 14 weeks and still no fan. Ive called a few times, the first time they didn't even have our order. the second time they said it was back ordered, and the third time a rude man got on the phone and basically told me i was wrong, and there was no refunds surprise surprise, he said it takes 16 weeks, they supposedly tell people it takes this long? that's BS! i would have never bought from them if they would have told me that. I have no clue how they are still in business, there is definitely a trend here. i have 2 more weeks then I'm going for my refund. and they better give it to me.

Went to this site to see my first terribly unfavorable review based on an encounter I had with owner Mike Free last month. AND the review had not even been posted!!!Today I met in the parking lot of the Monroeville store, waiting for it to open under "reduced hours". It never opened and while I was waiting, other defrauded customers pulled into the parking lot, including a lawyer pursuing ANOTHER class action suit for customers like myself, who have been bilked out of money, yelled at, treated like dirt, experienced prolonged and failed delivery of their order merchandise.If this guy pulled these shenanigans back in '07 and was taken to court, WHY was he allowed to open up again?? I am calling a lawyer and magistrate tomorrow!!!

The woman working at the store in Monroeville actually locked us out and closed the store when she saw us coming!! Why this company isn't already out of business, I have no idea. It is most likely because the person who owns it is a thief and gets innocent shoppers to basically hand over hundreds of dollars straight to his pocket. This was THE WORST experience I have had as a consumer.

No wonder this store has so little business!! Their "terms of sale" -printed on the receipt but not mentioned/emphasized otherwise, are abominable if you are a consumer shopping for interior products which must almost need to be seen in place before you can decide whether they work well in your decor!
Even internet stores (not to mention big-box stores) have more gracious, consumer-oriented policies in regard to return. My advice: the only advantage this store has over internet stores IS in-your-face customer service, which they don't provide anyhow. So if you have any indecision about a lighting fixture or other product, do not purchase it here!

Like many other customers, we ordered and paid for, in full, a chandelier from Electra Lighting in Monroeville. Liz happened to be our sales representative and told us it would take 4-6 weeks for our light to come in. Again, like so many other unsuspecting customers we called after 6 weeks to see what the hold-up was, only to be told by Liz it would be 2 more weeks before our light would come in. When I spoke to the owner, Mike Free, that same day, he informed me that all the other fixtures from that particular manufacturer were shipped to him but ours. When I happened to mention this to a co-worker, she giggled and told me to look Mr. Free and his store up on the internet and to also check out his rating with the Better Business Bureau. Our story is pretty much the same as everyone else's'. I called the manufacturer 18 weeks after we paid for our chandelier and found out Electra Lighting and/or Mr. Free never placed an order with them and immediately called the credit card company to have the charges reversed. They agreed to reverse our charges since Mr. Free failed to produce our merchandise within the 16 weeks stated on our 'contract'. And how ironic that 2 days after the charges were reversed, our order was supposedly filled. I would like someone to tell me why this man is still in business. Isn't there any way to shut this dishonest business down? We also placed a call to Corbett's office to inform him of yet one more scam by this thief. Hopefully our dealings with this business is over. And how much can he be paying Liz to take all the abuse she takes from dissatisfied customers, although she is an extremely unpleasant lady.

The owner is a detestable thief. Heed my warning, do not make a purchase in this stable, you have only yourself to blame for what befalls you if you do. My experience is the same described above so many times. A nightmare, a consumer's worst nightmare. If you are compelled to do business with these beasts, it'd be better just to throw your money into the toilet of the place.

I ordered two lights from Liz at Electra Lighting on March 20, 2008. I had to pay in full for them. I called to see where my lights were in April because I was told that they would be in around 4-6 weeks. I received one of my lights on May 5 and was told that I would get a call when my other light came in. I called in June when I didn't hear from Electra Lighting and was told that my light wasn't in yet. I called a week later and told that my light was on backorder. Mike told me that if my light is not in by July 20th, then I would have his apolozies and a refund. THAT WAS A LIE!! I called the manufacture of my light and found out that is was in stock and could ship in 3-5 days. Once I found this out I called Mike Free and asked him when he ordered the light. He told me that he ordered the light on May 20, 2008. Lie, Lie, Lie. It is now July 24th and I still haven't received my light. I have called him everyday starting on July 20, 2008. That was the end of the 16 weeks that I was supposed to wait according to my contract. I got lies, lies, lies. I am fed up with this company and filed a complaint with Tom Corbett. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM. THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY AND DO NOT PROVIDE YOU WITH YOUR MERCHANDISE!!!

We were told that it would take about 4 weeks to come in it is now July 2008 and we still did not recieve the light fixture for our kitchen. My husbands credit card was charged and I had him call his credit card company to tell them we never received the mechandise and they stated that we needed to find out the store policy and if the stores policy was to pay up front then we should do that. What a stupid rule. What ever happened to the customer is also right?? So we paid up front and still no light. I called again today and was told that the order had a purchase order number on it and I asked what does that mean and the clerk told me that it meant that it was ordered and on back order. I decided to look them up on the website and to my surprise I found the articles of other customers that have not recieved merchandise but did pay up front also and were told they would and would not get a refund. Do not buy from this store. They are dishonest. After the fixture doesn't arrive within a reasonable time-frame, Mr Free, the owner will tell you it is back ordered. After numerous phone calls to the store, I finally called the company that makes the lights that I ordered. They said that they never received the order. After about 10 weeks, and many phone calls to them (Mr Free also shouts at you), I gave up and went into dispute with my credit card company. He told them I never came to pick up the items after I was contacted. I was NEVER contacted. A reliable source told me he apparently doesn't pay his suppliers and now has difficulty getting lighting. Hence, he keeps people waiting. And we have all paid IN FULL.

After numerous phone calls to the store, I finally called the company that makes the lights that I ordered. They said that they never received the order. After about 10 weeks, and many phone calls to them (Mr Free also shouts at you), I gave up and went into dispute with my credit card company. He told them I never came to pick up the items after I was contacted. I was NEVER contacted. A reliable source told me he apparently doesn't pay his suppliers and now has difficulty getting lighting. Hence, he keeps people waiting. And we have all paid IN FULL.

My husband and I purchased a ceiling fan 5-26-2007 from Electra Lighting. The owner Mike Free was very friendly and showed us the display of ceiling fans. We informed him that we needed a ceiling fan to go in our bedroom over our bed. We really liked a particular ceiling fan on display. Mr. Free told us about how he stood behind his product and informed us of the technical issues regarding the fan. Mr. Free asked us our ceiling height and we informed him that they were pretty low. Mr. Free reported that this ceiling fan would definitely work for the average 7-8 foot ceiling. He measured and told us that a 6 foot person would be able to stand under the ceiling fan. Mr. Free told us that if we had any problems that he would stand behind his product. He never told us that we should be sure because there were no refunds.
The next day we had a certified electrician to come and in install the fan. The electrician looked at the ceiling fan and the directions included and informed us that there would be no way that this ceiling fan would be able to safely hang over our bed. The electrician reported that anyone who knew about ceiling fans would have never sold us this type of fan knowing the height of our ceiling.
On 6-2-2007 we tried to return the fan. The sales representative explained that not only were there no refunds, but even though the receipt reported exchange only, we would not be able to exchange the item until the owner, Mr. Free, returned 3 days later.
We called Mr. free 6-4-2007 and reported the problem, and he reported the certified electrician ??did not know what he was doing.? We told him that the electrician showed us how impracticable and unsafe the particular fan would be if he installed it over our bed, but Mr. Free reported repeatedly ??it will work.? We told Mr. Free that we did not understand how he could spend so much time telling us about the ceiling fan and how it would work even on the lowest ceilings, but now refuse to even hear the situation. Mr. Free continued to put us on hold. We told Mr. Free that our electrician said that we needed flush mount ceiling fans, but he reported that he did not have any available in the store and/or for special order.
Mr. Free refused to stand by his product and indirectly deceived us by telling us that he knew about ceiling fans and the appropriateness according to ceiling height. The merchant refused to allow us to receive a credit receipt on the day we returned the merchandise. There is no way we could use a credit exchange because he does not sell the product that we need for our particular ceiling i.e. a flush mount ceiling fan. In the end, as a business, Mr. Free was deceiving and unethical regardless of the no refund policy, which he never explained implicitly or explicitly. Now we are stuck with a fan and out of $500. I have contacted the BBB and the attorney general. If you have problems with this company you should records dates, conversations and anything else. But save yourself the trouble and keep driving/wlaking if you see the store.

ordered a shade for fixture and was told it would be 1 week to 10 days,
stopped in and an arrogant lady said that was not true it takes 4 to 6 weeks

8 weeks later no shade, spoke to Mike, Owner and he refused to give me a refund and told me read my contract. He is a very poor example. He needs to go to customer service classes. He was screaming at me on the phone and told me to go see who ordered it. I think they lost the order anyway.

I lost hundreds of dollars! Please never shop here, I can't believe they are even allowed to do business... I spoke to the owner about it, he didn't care, very unprofessional & hung up the phone on me. Product is cheap and overpriced!!!

I love shopping in this store, they carry so many different variety of chandelier & other lighting supples.And they have displayed it very beautifully so one gets ideas on how it would look. The prices are from mid to high.They have huge stock. I spend hours looking in this store!We bought lot many lighting goods from here for our house.
