I have been using Chef's Table for catering my office events for about a year or so now and I cannot say enough good things about them. They are professional, attentive and polite. The food is always great; I usually get the deluxe assorted sandwich platter with two side salads and cookies. My office guests are always complimenting the choices. I highly suggest trying them for an event.

This is a sort of depressing little grocery store right on south Street. Maybe in the day it was something special, but now it is kind of sad and run down. There are candy/cookie items, but everything seems overpriced and the selection isn't that great.

I don't know who shops here but if you want to spend way too much money on your groceries you should check out Essene instead. They don't really have anything that interesting or special that makes the trip worth it.

With cereals that cost over 7 bucks and chips at double their price at large chain supermarkets, don't expect to frequent chef's market as your neighborhood grocery store (unless you are a billionaire and you are used to that kind of thing). Most food staples are overpriced heavily, and merchandise get s little old on the shelves. On the pro side, they have awesome ice cream and other gourmet frozen treats to tempt the appetite.

Pros: hard to find gourmet foods

Cons: prices to be balked at

The chefs market is a great place just to walk around. Its like a food museum. They have great chefs displaying their items in little booths. The food is great. I love the sandwiches and appetizers they have. Its great place to shop for a great meal or just spend a few hours strolling through.

Chef's Market is, as its name implies, a market for chefs. You could spend hours browsing through the staggering array of food that this place has. Bread, meats, gourmet cookery, any number of delicious cakes that are mouth watering.
I could go on and on about it, but it's better to see for yourself and go to Society hill and visit Chef's Market.

I have had the pleasure of working with chefs on many occasions and have been astounded everytime. When i initially considered catering with them i requested a list of references and was handed a 20 sheet booklet. Everyone from sports teams to the largest corporations in and around the city uses them and for darn good reason there food blows everyone elses away. When you are in business for as long as they have been, 23 years i think, you are doing something right. i have also used them for many other events and have been completely satisfied every single time.

Pros: service, quality, Experience

Cons: none

Just had chef's market cater an event at our house. The food quality was OK, but the customer services was awful. Thank god I was able to make a run to Whole Foods to make up for all the stuff they forgot. There are much better places and values in Philadelphia, don't waste your time on this place!

I've never had their prepared food, but the produce and meat tend to be low quality, high price.

I always wondered why all over the city I saw bags from Chef's Market. Now that I'm in the Society Hill area often, I know why: impeccable food quality, quaint cafe area (inside & outside) to meet friends and neighbors, divine desserts and packed sandwiches, just to name a few. Daily the items change and the staff can help instruct you how to cook your fish and what great items accompany your dish so well that ya never wanna put your fork down.

Chef's Market, Philadelphia. They brought gourmet to town! I eat there daily and am NEVER disappointed. Hope they continue to have the new Gelati Cart out front. They really do keep the neighborhood going.

Chef's Market is the best kept secret in Philadelphia. Visit the store and see for yourself. It's run by local people who are usually at the store and who care about the quality of their products. The prepared food offerings (hundreds) change daily, baked stuff is just super special, their produce is fresh, flavorful and fruit is bigger than other stores offer. Its all there, fish, butcher, baker, caterer, appetizing. There's even lunch daily and a sidewalk cafe. If they don't have it, they'll get it or make it for you. They've been working hard at it for over fifteen years and they really are the best in town!

I've been in and out of CM for six or so years and I've always been satisfied. Sure, it's more expensive than Pathmark, but you also get a level of quality and service that easily beats any other grocery in the area. And the prepared foods are perfect for a quickie dinner.
