as good as NYC

by elizabeth s. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,067

I was strictly a NYC girl. My best friend kept raving about Walnut street theatre in Philly. I did give it a chance - impressed is not enough of a compliment!!! The show was incredible= the costumes, the set designs. We had great seats. Beauty and the Beast - the transformation into the prince- how did that happen right before my eyes?!!! Everybody - check it out - go in for a show here - you have a wide variety of restaurants to do dinner too.........the only thing was - the parking lot is not big enough ..........but since the show was sooo good - i didn't mind!!

beautiful local theatre

by Samrat M. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 264

Walnut street theatre is a great loal theatre which adds a touch of class to center city philadelphia. Its shows are very well done and very entertaining. Its a different sort of entertainment for especially Philly residents. The prices are also very reasonable. Parking is available right next door. Its also right next to south street so its a good place for a nite out.

Stars are born here!!!

by Michelle H. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,237

An truly amazing place! We have had season tickets for years and watching the cast grow and become better actors and to know what shoes they were in is such a treat. Jeff Coon and Christopher Sutton (I had to say their names) are .....I'm speechless. breathless...can't say enough. Go see Chris in Finnian's Rainbow before it's gone!!! Try once and you will never go to Broadway again. It's closer, it's cheaper and BETTER!

Very satisfied subscriber

by Anonymous

We've been subscriber to the Walnut Street Theater for almost 3 years and love watching productions here. They put on 5 productions each year and the subscription package which includes tickets to the 5 productions is only $80. (The tickets are for Thursday night and not the best seats but still a bargain!) The theater is also in a great location and is definitly within walking distance to a lot of restaurants.

Top notch plays

by penny b. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,855

While this theatre does have the bradway plays they in the same format, the seating leaves a lot to be disered.
The seats are small, crowded and very poorly set up. Also, parking nearby is also non existent.

Great Classes, Great Facility

by Melissa S. | insider Insider | Rank: 14,186

I love the Walnut! I've seen many shows here and enjoyed every one. The classes are also great for all levels and are pretty inexpensive compared to other classes in the city, especially for the quality instructors. All actors should at least take one class at the Walnut

Theater Classes here are great!

by Adua T. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 1,993

I've never actually seen a show here, but I've taken classes here and the classes are great! If you are an actor looking for tips or a newcomer beginning o act...this is the place for you. The classes are taught by renowned teachers and are excellent

PROS: Great Classes
CONS: a tad expensive
