First and last time I'll be getting food from Lucky's.

I had it delivered by DiningIn and picked it from their list of Mexican restaurants. I figured it was the best pick of the list since I have a soft spot for any restaurant in the city that isn't a chain. They are generally much better than chains - no frozen food, better flavors - yadda yadda....

BUT NOT LUCKY'S - blah Enchiladas Verde's with sub-par pieces of chicken. It was like they were trying to mask the fact that they used the worst pieces of chicken with spice. Not to mention there was nothing else in them but chicken, not one slice of pepper or onion . Last time I checked enchiladas had more than 6 confetti sized pieces of cheese that resided only on top.

Complete garbage.

And the rice was definitely from a box.

Cons: The Food

I have planing to try this place but I end up go somewhere else. Finally I went in. it's worth it. It's reasonable price and food is very good. I don't like their guacamole dip. I have been there many times and I will go back again.

I'd been meaning to try Lucky's for a while but when I'm on South St I usually go to el Rey Sol, the Joint, or Manny Brown's on Sunday for their Taco Special. So I'm rarely in the area and looking for Mexican food elsewhere. I finally got a chance to stop in Lucky's last week though and I was very satisfied with my meal. The prices were reasonable and the ingredients were high quality and fresh tasting. They also offer a nice selection of imported sodas. The service is a bit of a mess though, there were only 3 or 4 other customers in the restaurant but is was still chaotic. I had no idea where to order or when to pay. Some signs with some directions would go a long way. The food was prepared quickly though so I can't complain too much. I don't think I'll be stopping in that often because I still prefer el Rey Sol overall, but Lucky's is a nice alternative that I'd gladly recommend to anyone looking for Mexican food in the area.

Pros: Good food, good prices, plenty of seating space

Cons: Has plenty of good competition in the area and the service isn't great
