8th Street Music Ctr

I've been here a couple of times to buy oboe reeds - the staff is always really helpful but they don't always have what I need - therefore, I'd strongly recomment calling before stopping in; they're always happy to order things but their selection focuses more on breadth than depth (though I imagine for popular instruments like guitar they have everything you could possibly need). Staff is very knowledgable and pleasant. Note that the store is now on Arch between 10th & 11th (used to be nearer 8th st, hence the name). And I second the earlier reviewer, parking & traffic are hellish down there, particularly on weekends - walk there if you can.

PROS: Helpful staff, able to get anything (though may take a few days)
CONS: Traffic/parking a challenge

i wanted to buy a saxophone and i went to this place. i wasnt sure which one i wanted and the people there were able to help me pick the right one. i was able to get a good deal on it and they also had deals for service and maintenance in the future.it was a good purchase from a good store.

This is a very popular music store for Musicians in the PhiIadelphia are. I am in a performing group (a capella & percussion) and we come to 8th Street Music for some of our instruments. The only thing is please do not leave your car in the tow-away zone even for a second, because I"VE BEEN TOWED!!! Aside from the towing, the place is always busy, the staff is really nice and the prices are also very good.

PROS: Great Musical Instruments, nice prices
CONS: Hard to find parking
